St Wilfrid's School 1953-2009
Decided to film a tour of the old school building before it was all knocked down. Hope this brings back many memories for anyone that attended or worked in the school.

Broadcast Media assignment. Brief was to film a poem.
Thank you for sharing your video,It was a delight,to see,the old school again,I am a very old Wilfridian,who attended there,from 1976-1979,my name's Mark Hanson.
So many memories. Class of 88 to 93. Anyone remember the bunker and the tiny cricket cages. Trackers, was it? Where we used to hide for a sneaky fag😂 The youth club run by Lyn was awesome. My kids were split between the new and old buildings. I remember parents evening and sitting opposite my old RE teacher Mr Crocker. That was fun. The new one is lovely, but doesn't have the 'A' building charm. Grandkids are going there next.
9 years later and still not continued…
I have been able to rewalk the paths of my childhood and school years thanks to this. I was 2 years old when we moved into St Wilfrid's when my father Michael O'Reilly was appointed the first Head and lived in the flat at the very top of the old house. T he grounds were our playground, the daffodils filled a bank every spring where cars were parked, the wonderful trees have stayed in my mind. I was a pupil until I sat my O levels and have seen the stairs I walked up, the classrooms where I was taught and, so poignantly, the door to the office of the Headmaster, my Dad who died aged 52 in 1963 when I was 12. Memories never die. Thank you so much.
Brought back some memories for me……
I was very moved by this video. My father was the first headmaster of St Wilfreds - Mr O'Reilly. We lived in the main house on the top floor in a flat. I was a tiny child but later went to the school. many many thanks.
Hello,my dad knew Mr O'Reilly,as he started,at St Wilfrids,In 1953,he spoke very highly of Mr O'Reilly
and said that he had suffered from malaria,I visited your dad's grave a few times at the friary, with my dad,to pay our respects,my dad's name was Michael Hanson, and I attended there from 1976-1979,sorry I sent the first message by mistake, hence why It's not complete.
Memory lane right here, thank you so much for capturing all this and sharing it
Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant that's one of the best footage by far well done to you and thank you for sharing this wonderful memories of the school as for me I left 1976 wish I stayed on like you do, as a radio presenter for the Crawley Radio Statio Runway Radio I would like to interview you if your up for it, so many memories with a lot of history like the Air Raid Shelter : Old School House plus seeing the classroom's around the school plus the lovely garden infront of the House thank you once again 😀👍
The courts are still there now! - year 7 student 2017
Wow it looks so different 😂 I’m in the recent st wilfrids and trust me it’s so much better some of the teachers are still here too 😂
Was at St Wilfs from sep 1971 til 74 and part time in the sixth form ( I was working on a farm) . Compared to other schools in crawley it was fairly free thinking. Remember Mr Ward the Drama teacher and Tony weaver. and Allison our economics teacher( Cant remember many others) Used to park my old land Rover by the Youth wing. Wasnt trusted to put it in the staff car park. Mr Blake who I thought was a good bloke always very helpful, sadly taken away. Long gone local building firm of Longleys built and extended the original school and most of Crawley. They did a good apprentership scheme and many lads joined it. Never went back to visit, no point school just a small part of life but Rob Smith and the Cure did put it on the map!
i remember mr weaver xx
I used to play this on my college radio station in the early 90s. Great tune

Spitfire brought so much love - literally
I went here in the 60's for 5 terrible years. I can't believe its been demolished, surely not the old house though??????
theres a new house complex in place of the old house (go and check it out on google maps)
I remember this, I have never sen the new buildings from the inside, I noticed that it even has it's own road now at the entrance where the youth wing used to be. Apparently Mr. Crocker has since retired and got married. Everyone remembers him! "I'll hit the roof!" - Ben Goddard (class of '99 - '00)
WHERE'S THE WORK IN THESE R.E. BOOKS!!
Mr Crocker hasn't retired currently still my RE teacher
+Lauren Brownhill mine too he's strict lol

Wow so much had changed but did bring back so many memories it's funny how I had forgotten the layout of the school ............ Class of 1983
Wow, thank you so much for filming this. Brings back a lot of memories. The old building with the chapel was beautiful, it is a shame they knocked that down. (Class of 1992-1997).
Did you know Mr Allen
