Here is my utopian plan: confederation. Israel and Palestine exist as sovereign states but they form an EU type of organization with common currency and borders. Both sides already live side by side in both war and peace, so full seperation is not a solution. A land swap can be done if Israel wants to keep settlement areas. Jerusalem can be divided and you can call them as in their original names "Yerushalayim" and "Al-Quds" instead of West and East, while Old City is an internationally protected area open to visits for both sides. Inclusion of Palestine in the same organizations Israel participates (such as OECD, EBU or European sporting organizations) can also increase social cooperation between both sides. A political, economic and social integration without the erasure of their identities can be path for peace.
