Here I am watching this thinking I'd find the ultimate solution for water resistant filament in a fishing application. You clearly have more knowledge than me on Fusion 360!!! I'll trade some of my competitive fly fishing secret for Fusion 360 skills...😅 Anyhow, I am actually looking at re-working a reel seat option AND making spare spools for one of my reel. I mostly use cassette reels for still water competition fishing but my river reel is stupid expensive and the spare spool are over 200 each. At this point I am debating prototyping with the 3D printer and once I am ready just getting PCBways to machine the parts...
I love watching projects like this
Hey Lexie I love that hook! So good
So cool!
Fantastic, LOVE the orgids! I would also buy the file.
Of course this is all hindsight as I haven't checked any connections yet and simply went looking to see if anyone else had a similar issue before I delve into it myself. If there is an error, best practice is to ask yourself, what could have changed on its own... It WAS working before... Most errors on any machine are from mechanical movement so that will narrow it down. Bed heating error? check where the wire connection moves. You can even do this during a print, wiggle the wire, and see if it errors out. You might even be able to see the heat drop out on the display.
would love to print it. if you have it shared or sell it somewhere.
👍 Great job! Sell the file, make some money for the filament. 😊
Good work, very clever. 😊
I caught a 9lb bass on Ed Zonneveld's other fly reel. Its on his Cults3d page. It is his Center Pin design and its very sturdy and quite impressive.
Nice! 9lbs😮
@@LexieEclectic Also FWIW this was the first time I fly fished in 5 years because of seeing the designs on this video, so thanks.
good project. :)
You didn’t had to go through all of this all you had to do is put a butter knife in the fire wait till it got hot and make a few wide split in the bottom of your basket or used nail by holding the nail in the fire with a plier and make hold at the bottom of the basket and you’re done . Baskets are made of plastic hot knife go through it like butter . You can shape the basket with the hot knife anyway you like .
Well done, great stuff :)
My Fusion360 skills are pretty basic compared to what I'm seeing here. Where did you learn how to use all of these different tools?
So I learned how to 3d model in university. I briefly learned Autodesk 3dmax for one year and learned how to use Solidworks when I did my major. So when I switched over to fusion 360 my Solidworks knowledge was applicable to Fusion. For the very complicated organic forms modeling I basically learned a lot from UA-cam tutorials.
Where did you get the we bare bears mug?
So I think we purchased them from amazon like 7 years ago but I couldn't see the item available on amazon anymore. There is a listing on Hot Topic's website for the exact mugs I bought. Google search "we bare bears stack mugs" and the listing should pop up.
These are great. Thanks for taking the extra time to video and share them. It occurred to me that the two pieces of the mug shelf might go together more securely if the joint is overlapping. Do you think those solid hexagons are thick enough to split their height, alternating top half and bottom half? If the other side is printed so that the pieces interlock when you slide the two sides together (which might be difficult I now realize.. I wonder if a tiny gap would be needed) they would already have some vertical support. It would also provide considerably more gluing surface. I don’t know if I’m explaining it clearly.
Thank you :) Definitely agree about the overlapping joint being a better idea than the way I chose to do it. It was a case of me printing out the first prototype, realising that I should have used an overlapping lip joint but deciding not to remodel the joint and reprint the shelf because it worked well enough and I didn't want to use up anymore filament lol.
@@LexieEclecticthere was certainly no need to keep refining yours; you have an excellent solution. :) I’m just trying to wrap my mind around whether the alternating half tabs would work and was seeking your input. I suspect I might need to print mine in quarters so strength is a concern.
After coming across this video, I went back and binge watched most of your other ones. 3D printing + functional/practical prints + fishing + watching the design process??? Yes, please!
Thank you for the kind comment! Glad that you enjoy my videos:)
Im currently printing the Mug shelf. Very nice design. Hoping it comes out well on my machine.
@@Camaro45th Thank you! I hope it comes out well too and that you enjoy it😊
thats so cool! i just got my 3d printer last month, I've been wanting to learn blender or f360 since
That's awesome! I hope you have fun learning both. I find Blender to be a lot more complicated and less intuitive than Fusion but also a lot more powerful (especially when it comes to organic shape modeling). Thanks for the positive comment :)
Really enjoyed your video… your projects are giving me ideas! So glad you showed how you modeled them too.
They look amazing!Good job
Some ideas for improvement based on my experience: - backpack hook needs a lot more rounding, otherwise it's hard to put something on the hook + it usually damages the cloth itself. - adding slot for finger so it would be easier to take wallet out - adding holes on the bottom to give yourself a way to clean it when inevitably some dirt or garbage falls down. - making holder for keys magnetic to make it more accessible from both sides - mug shelf probably needs some edge on perimeter otherwise at some point there is chance of breaking mugs - spice rack should have a way to hold individual parts between each other, and maybe some gluing to the wall of the cupboard (or additional legs on the front), or I can see chance of disaster when all the spices will slide out. - spice rack should also have some angle to spices bottles, like commercial ones, otherwise it's, again, easy for them to fall out. - spice rack also can be printed one hex at a time in vase mode with thick nozzle, then glued together.
@StasZubenko You are more than welcome to download the cad files and improve on them. I've also added images of measurements for each Printables model if you want to 3d model the parts from scratch instead. I've added a link to my Printables account in the description.
3d printing custom things for my space is my favorite thing ever. Great job!
Fun projects.
I ran into the same issue while working with Elegoos support. It was my fault. I did something stupid while tinkering. They were very gracious about it.
Fascinating to watch your process Lexie❤️
Your first bait thickness is ok you just needed to add the wieght in the rite location and also hooks and rings add a little weight to great works
Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind next time I make a bait.
That's super engineering stuff! I love your hobbies, your passion, your creative mind, your honest way of telling us about your struggling and the journey of getting the final solution through several iterations. Absolut fantastic, thanks for sharing, keep on! ❤ (I very much envy your skills using F360, fun to watch, like an art. I used Onshape so far it works for me but yeah, 3D design needs a lot of practice which you seem to have in your vains.)
Thank you!😊
Functional prints are what I enjoy the most, so you are always on my list to watch. I really appreciate the fact that you go over everything that went wrong. I also feel like I learn something new in every one of your videos.
Thank you! Being thorough and informative is definitely something I aim to achieve in my video so hearing your feedback means a lot!
interesting, thx

Great recap!
You really did the whole thing. Very cool.
I need your help...😢
Hi, sorry but as I have mentioned before in a different comment, I am unable to help you with making a hybrid reel.
@@LexieEclectic ok but your videos was nice
Hello, just like you i am very passionate about fly fishig reel. I have some questions about fly fishing reel. I am from india. Here we use it but there is no adjustable drag system. I want to make a hybrid reel. Can you help me?
Hello, thank you for your interest in my channel and my related work. I've never designed a fly fishing reel myself, I've only ever made 3d printed fly reels that other people designed and posted on thingiverse. So perhaps your best bet is downloading their designs off thingiverse and looking at how they made their's. You'll find links to their designs in the descriptions of my previous 3d printer reel review videos part 1 and part 2. Hope this helps.
@@LexieEclectic Thanks for your reply. But how to make a drag, break system For fly fishing reel? What kind of things(washers, bearing, nut 🔩 etc) should I use for it? I want to make it like spinning fishing reel drag system.
I ran out of time to see everything but shortly before the end I remember seeing your colorful booth! Very cool, I'm excited for next year as well
Thank you for visiting my booth and your kind comment. Yes the sheer amount of cool booths to see was unbelievable, I wish I had more time to see more.
It was a pleasure to meet you at open sauce this year! Hope to make it out next year as well!
