One time only Oldtimers Meet/Treff at the Höchst Scloss Fest. The cars were all parked along the Main, with owners happy to chat with those admiring their babies. The Schloss fest has been going on all week, but today is the last day. Hope you can get out their tonight or this time next year.
Historic Steam Train in Frankfurt

What a fun sight to see in Frankfurt! When this wonderful old steam train stops at your station. This was in Griesheim and a group had chartered the train for a day trip. The train is often in the city and offers short trips, specialty events like the Teddy Bear ride, the Santa ride, etc. or longer rides to towns like Königstein, Rüdesheim, Michelstadt, and more. Luggage Storage Facilities, Frankfurt Airport - Terminal 1 & 2

Wondering where you can store your carry-on or luggage so you can go into Frankfurt for a tour, or just because you don't want to carry it around with you on a long layover? This video will show you where. In Terminal 1, it is by the Arrival Gate B-1, and in Terminal 2, it is by the Arrival Gate D.
Luggage Storage at the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main train station)
Переглядів 122Місяць тому
Store your bags at the luggage storage facility, like the airport has or in a locker at the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) in Frankfurt. I made a mistake about the pricing on the lockers where you pay electronically. It is 4 € initially, and then another 2€ when you get back. Basically, 6€ per day. They look a lot cleaner though and are new.
75th Berlin Airlift Memorial, Wiesbaden - 15-16 June, 2024

Great memorial this weekend in Wiesbaden. If you get a chance to go on Sunday, go for it. The Candy Drop was so much fun for the kids and you could tell they had worked really hard on getting all those candy parachutes made. The Berlin Airlift exhibit is inside and is huge!. This was the largest humanitarian effort ever undertaken, and it always amazes me what they did. Most of the gates are cl...
Full Laser Light Show for the EURO 2024, Frankfurt, 12.06.24

The Games begin on Friday and Germany is ready for them, with parties happening in all of the cities where games will be played. Frankfurt has a fan mile along the river and a huge, floating screen in the middle of the Main. The party began here last night, with a great laser show, and it seemed half the population of Frankfurt was there to watch it.
Gutleut Kasern in Frankfurt

This rather large structure was built in the late 1800's when Frankfurt was run by the Prussians. It was used by the Prussian military, then the German military, and finally by the Americans. Had hoped to go inside, but this was closed off to the public. I know many of you may have come through here when it was the 21st Replacement, or perhaps you worked here. A quick walk around inside the main train station in Wiesbaden. It is a beautiful station built in 1906, with 10 platforms. When I mention Rossmans being open every day, I do mean only the ones in the train stations, not the ones that are in the city. Sorry for the confusion. Various S-bahns and regional trains stop here, including the S-8 and S-9 that go to the Frankfurt airport, as well as th...

I was with Co. D 17th. Inf. LRRP stationed at Gibbs Kaserne in 1968. We were an Airborne unit attached to NATO and trained with the German Paratroopers and the British in another part of Germany. We were a spec op company, highly trained and participated in some NATO ops ie. attacking a German Nike Missile site unannounced. Also, counterinsurgency training and an op against the British. We redeployed back to Benning in '68 where we spent time in the field training and also with Marine Recon in the swamps. We also trained for a short time in crowd control for a political convention. After several months training and maintaining our jump status by jumping with the cherries from jump school, my entire company received orders for Ranger School. I think it was the first time ever an entire company got orders for Ranger training without applying. We were all accepted, but I chose not to go as I was sick of training and told the Old Man, "Just give me my orders for Nam because that was where everyone was going after Ranger school. He was surprised I didn't want to go to Ranger training because of the reputation of being a Ranger commanded much respect, but as I said, I had been training the entire time of my enlistment and wanted to get going to the real thing which I ended up in Nam in January of '68 with A Co. 3rd. Bat. 503 Inf. 173rd. Airborne Brigade in the Central Highlands.

This country is increasingly in the grip of paranoia. In 2003 I was able to go inside Drake - and take pictures - , at a time when it was already used by the police. Nobody complained then. And some trivia from way back then: In the late 50s Elvis Presley most likely attended a change of command ceremony at Drake. And some scenes for Elvis first post-Army movie "GI Blues" were shot in front of Drake and Edwards
