WHY YOU SHOULD GO TO THE MOVIES ALONE
I'm hoping Dennis Quaid gets a bunch of roles come in and finds something equally good for his talents, under used actor, same for Demi Moore
for some reason on Letterboxd, every movie just has the most interesting and colorful posters that look so creative. I wonder why those just aren't in promotion. My only guess is that the posters don't fit the tone of the movie possibly.
I am the lowest of the low when it comes to my collection Im stuck with my xbox 1 (doesn't play 4k) I mostly only buy dvds I get all my media from charity shops I have one shelf thats in my room thats wedged between the bed and the wall (tv stand type thing) said bookshelf has 1 layer visible (the top layer everything else is stacked with books) I store my dvds as a tower on the floor As shinji said "i am the lowest of the low"
The Ending was rather Poetic for Elizabeth. I saw the movie the night it opened. Not a fan of Body Horror, but the Acting was OUTSTANDING DFemi Moore most certainly gave the Performance of a LIFETIME, and she evoked a bit of sympather from me when Sue did what she did to Elizabeth.
I can already tell this is going to a banger like 1 min in. Always a treat finding an up and coming channel.

This is far more better than the story article I’ve read about the Miami mutilator.
Far too many 'modern' horror/elevated horror has forgotten one thing: entertain the audience. Horror movies used to be scary but also fun. A lot of these modern horror movies take themselves way too seriously and seem to be more interested in impressing pretentious filmmakers than actually entertaining the audience. I've seen better horror movies on low-budget films on Tubi and even short, independent films on UA-cam.
never experienced 4DX but i DID see Dora in 4D at a museum when I was 9. I'd rather do that again than go see fucking Twisters and get flung out of my seat.
MAKE WHAT YA DO LOOK EASY CANT SEE ME THEY ALL GET QUEASY
It's fucking amazing.
18:44 *Всё было идеально, кроме машины. Этот Шевроле портит всю атмосферу 80х. Я конечно понимаю: бюджет, содержание, поиск. Но даже какой-нибудь Ford Probe или Mazda 323 была бы лучше...*
that's fucking amazing!
the movie theater where i lived closed for good a few months ago and it sucks so much but i did go see beetlejuice beetlejuice in the town next to me which is like 25 minutes away from me and it went very good with no issues at all so thank god for that
How can a sex-ploitaion film effectively do battle with…sex-ploitation? How can actresses who radically conform to beauty standards (via plastic surgery) be integral exemplars for young women? Why would any integral actress participate in, and promote, a sex-ploitation/Roman Colloseum flick? Will this movie stop women of all ages, from the natural desire, of wanting to appear beautiful in public? Will a sexy girl running around in her underwear make viewers think differently about sexual assault? The trailer for ‘The Substance’ promises titillation galore for teenage boys and dirty old men, under the guise of ‘social critique’. How far is this tactic from the films produced by the American Social Hygiene Association, at the beginning of the 20th century? The males will leave this film with ‘flesh on the mind’ and the females with ‘cosmetics on the mind’. Which ideology or cause, could justify prostituting images of a woman’s nubile contours, to over a billion viewers? Successful actresses build their career on character, rather than contours (i.e. Angela Lansbury). Filmmakers who genuinely love women, provide opportunities for their feminine strength of character to shine. Misogynistic filmmakers expose bodily contours and then proceed to tear them apart for the viewer’s perverse delight. My favourite Demi Moore film is ‘One Crazy Summer’. I would like to see more films like ‘Howard’s End’ or ‘Trust’ where the women are given something edifying to do… While the filmmakers are patting themselves on the back, for simply reinforcing ‘the male gaze’, here are some valid criticisms: “But for all its feminist diatribes, The Substance is still a movie that is 80 percent extreme close-ups of Margaret Qualley’s arse. In nearly every other scene, the camera lovingly pans over her spandex-clad exterior, in sequences that are shot like ‘90s Viagra commercials” (Inverse.com). "The Substance’s presentation is as shallow as the very thing it’s critiquing. There’s no compassion, and certainly no catharsis - just more hagsploitation and a sense of déjà vu." (Hannah Strong) "An overuse of stale horror conventions in an already predictable plot-combined with decades-old, thoroughly unchallenging ideas about women’s relationships to their bodies-leads to a film that claims to support its protagonist, while treating her like the butt of the joke at every turn...I will not deny that Margaret Qualley is great to look at, but Fargeat undermines her film’s satirical point by catering to the same male gaze that the script claims to despise so deeply. Fargeat isn’t quite sure what she wants to say about women’s relationships to their body and images of their body, so she falls back on simply showing us that Margaret Qualley is hot.” (Paste Magazine) 'After two hours and 20 minutes of flamboyantly repulsive variations on this well-worn theme, even the strongest-stomached and most feminist of viewers could be excused for muttering, We get it already." (Slate Magazine)
I’ve seen it twice 🫶🏻
Same!
Woah what this is underrated as hell why am i only seeing this now
Old anime comes with dvd so cant get blue ray but thats ok
@1:44 you're so funny 😊 I cannot wait to see this!! All the reviews have been raving about this film breaking barriers in Horror.
That Fight Club menu you showed is actually from the Blu-Ray. the DVD has a completely different menu
Watched it three times already and can't wait to watch it again
All great horror movies are comedies, starting all the way back with Frankenstein. As far as Dennis Quaid goes, he's the magician's diversion. You need a character like that in this film, someone who's absolutely over the top because it makes all the other craziness seem a bit more believable. I can almost hear the director behind the camera saying something like, "Let's do it again Dennis, only this time make it even bigger and broader. Go completely out of your mind this time." He, and everyone else, nailed it. Regardless of genre, this movie's a masterpiece.
Bride of Frankenstein is one of my FAV Movies, and NOT The Sobstance is added.
We're seeing this with my film class tomorrow. Curious to see how this goes
Be sure to remember that all the truly great horror movies are comedies, to the point that I believe that horror is actually a subgenre of comedy. And this goes all the way back to Whale's Frankenstein. If you remember it's a comedy, you won't be tempted to barf.
@@bearwoody That's actually sound advice, thanks man
I saw it last night and was the only one in the theater, it was creepy.
Legitimate question. I am very keen to love this movie. May I ask if the film's agenda is attacking men or the so-called "male gaze"? Or does the film have a more sophisticated take on what has recently become a trend for just dismissing men as simply predators? I felt her first film was very harsh on men, and had a simplistic, broadbrush approach to the subject matter...
It's complex, like the unrealistic beauty standards imposed by society, which some people have internalized as their sole measure of worth, gambling everthing to appear youthful and desirable despite the consequences. It's like a mix of "Death Becomes Her," "Neon Demon," "Reanimator," and the greatest hits of Cronenberg..
@ATSinclair11 thanks for that. Part of me hopes it addresses the notion of self objectification, not just the objectification from men. That would feel like a more a balanced film.
@@MikeS-hs4vh The film addresses the internalized misogyny / self-objectification that is the result of women who are told by this culture that their looks equal their self-worth, and that youth is everything. So, that self-objectification doesn't come from nowhere.
I ACTIVATED halfway through the movie 🤮 Really enjoyed it thoroughly though 😂
Saw it last Sunday, it was brilliant

Saw it twice. Mind numbing craziness. No throwing up, but got queasy for sure. My fave film of the year 💯👏🏼!
I upped you, I saw it 3 times. INTENSE is an understatement
One thing about Demi Moore is she as an aerobics instructor often played into the same desires that kept her back. Which shows her decision to do the substance and her ultimate fate also being partially in her hands.
That thumbnail, I love it!
I don't think I've ever said to myself. . . . . . . I don't think so. . . . . I would have to be dragged. . . . . .I don't like pus.
The shrimp scene was the most disgusting part of the whole movie for me. But not by much.
I love your style man!
Keep making videos man. Your channel is sooo underrated and you deserve more recognition. keep doing what your doing and never give up♥👍
Great movie, can’t wait for it to win zero Oscars because the academy is too good for horror movies. Also I’m liking the Peggy representation
The end was awful. It should have been unbelievable to the characters. I say, walk out on the final half hour.
Most graphic film ever ? Your kidding, its like watching the elephant man, 2 characters in costumes and a silly blood spraying scene.
The killing herself scene is what got me, surprised they did pull the camera
This is the only movie I´ve seen where I hear people saying "you are not ready" and it actually turns out I was not, loved it
I watched this film at my local theater while it was completely empty (no one else bought a ticket) and that certainly was an experience
same here sorta (there was like one other person in the screening of the film)
Just watched it today and it’s definitely one of the most unique movies I’ve seen recently. Also very excited to rewatch it. Thank god we finally got amazing horror after a lot of so-so releases this year
There was a point near the end where a guy in front of me started clapping and cheering while simultaneously a couple and a guy to my right walked out of the theater
Perfectly describes this movie.
а есть перевод?
You also got the poster!!!
Hey Jackob it's your viewer from India and the things are also same here. Bollywood's highest grossing movie of the year is Stree 2 which is a part of universe and a sequel. And the next year is also filled with lots of sequals/franchise movies/remakes. Though we have Malayalam industry which is making good and original movies for us Indians.
I watched this movie and then immediately went out with the boys after. I just sat there drinking while completely traumatised💀
Yeah I needed a drink after this shit. I loved it, but it gave me anxiety. I put my sweater over my head and leaned forward to think about what I just saw. THAT is what cinema is about. People say it's the best movie of the year, but I'd put it up there with the best movie of this decade.
@@ryanleclaire3948 If this is the best film of the decade, then 2030 can't come soon enough.
