93-95 jeep grand cherokee speedometer fix, and dash removal
Переглядів 30 тис.6 років тому
This is how to remove your top dash pad and speedometer cluster, to fix your old speedometer , The reason I just change the memory board and not the whole speedo is so I can keep the miles right for the jeep , Most of the time when the memory board goes bad the mileage meter will still work, That's what my jeep did, mileage was still working just the speed part was not,

There ain't anybody tells you how to get the rear foot pegs off
How did you get your foot pegs off on the back of the thing
saved me a bunch of work by taking the top of, thank you.
Where can I buy that memory board?
They suck I can’t hear them after 15 mph
Aren’t they falling off without the clips or screws?
My Buddy bought these bags and bracket kit he did like you said and cut the brackets down to get the bags tight up against the bike, he had them for a few years and no problems at all and he rides non stop all year around
Where did you get your bags??
Thanks from France 🇫🇷
That's my boy. Gd job big chief 👍
I replaced my leather bags with hard bags - I also, put trailer LED lights vertically on the hard bags to brighten up my break lights and running lights. I also painted them to match the bike
I appreciate the video. I had to a access my gauge cluster on my 94 ZJ. This video truly helped
Ur camera skills sucks tho man not getting a good view how u doing it
I am trying to fix the heater core in a 94 grand cherokee zj, can you helpe by anychance?
Dude how do I unplug the dammed thing
Thanks life saver
I have them, Brackets dont line up.
Yes is there a way to just purchase the memory board? Where do you get a replacement one at besides the junkyard? I have intermittent failure of the speedometer and also the odometer at the same time but the trip meter up above in the center top still works but my analog one down below in the gauge cluster intermittently stops working and the speed also stops working when I'm going down the highway. I have already replaced the vehicle speed sensor, no joy!!
Our speedometer goes backwards? Can we do this to fix ours or do we need a new one.?
The same with mine…🤪 I’ll try to fix it this days…Let’s see what happens…
@@carmaniaoficial8584 You never answered back lol
@@itachiankoku2042 sorry, bro. I replaced mine and everything went well after that. I bought a pre-owned one on eBay…
Did you do the same process as above (just the board) or did you replace the entire assembly? And thanks for replying back after a year lol
@@itachiankoku2042I replaced the entire assembly…
They look decent to me.. I like the look better than the leather bags.
I just got that same sys for Christmas. Saturday Im hooking it up. Running the positive straight to the Battery, did you ever have a problem with battery draining? I have a 2020 street Bob sime people were saying to get a cut off switch, but the less I have to splice the less chances of a bad connection. Thanks for any response,.
I put mine on a toggle switch, It will kill your battery. some people hook it up to key switch but i like listening to my music setting around the fire or camp ,
I taped my toggle switch to bottom of my seat , its easy to turn on or off setting on the bike and you can not even see it been that way for 3 years now and I ride a lot , all up and down the east coast from NY-FL Kays
@@johnthecarguy1267 I put mine on a pre wired push button switch and used a heat gun and some 3M and found a nice place under the seat on the LH side. Came out very nice.
You look with the set of wings at the back
Ya the look funny
We bought a good instrument cluster off eBay for my 95 Grand Cherokee. Watched the video from John and all went super well. The hardest part was disconnecting the wire loom connector. Nothing major. The speedo now works again! Thanks John
How did you disconnected the wire connector? im afraid of breaking it
My boss mc420 system lasted 5 years on my 06 Softail Delux. Then....the speakers just fizzled out. No complaints what so ever. I put my stock pipes back on....what a difference... you can HEAR your Boss ! Lol
Did anyone find a solution to the turn signal issue? is there a bracket available or blinker bar . Need something for a 99 Harley Fatboy?
Thank you John. I am working on this at the moment. Some mishaps of note. Had trouble getting the plug loose due to two keeps which were a huge pain to get off... Then the second on flipped off and ended up down in the dash. I used my phone to locate then reached in to recover. Putting it all back together... Should be driving it tomorrow.
No joy. Now oil guage and speedo are not working. Lol
My 95 JGCL w/4.0 isn't like this. It has one complete circuit board and the speedo, tach and gauges don't come apart separately on the back. If you've ever worked on a gm from the late 80's it's like them. If something goes wrong on the back you have to change the whole circuit board.
Perhaps they are a multiple bike fit bracket system that you adjust to your particular bike. The bags themselves look good bro. Thanks for the video.
Just now got some for the sporty and I also gotta get a relocation kit for the turn signals
Thanks for the video
Nice informative video dude. Thanks. Not sure if you are doing anymore jeep videos. I needed to change the light bulbs in the speedo so your video was very helpful. Only thing is, what's the best way to UNPLUG the cluster and completely remove it?
Mount the saddlebag brackets behind the quick release stubs for the sissy bar and do away with the spacer on the peg mount. It will bring the bags closer, Thank me later
he would have to grind off the thickness of the saddlebag mounting tabs. The quick release accessory brackets wouldnt be wide enough.
so did anyone learn where to buy a new speedometer memory board?
Go online and find a used one. Swap the memory board. Try DEADJEEPS.COM. I got a new looking used fan control unit from them today. Headed out to swap it now. Pulled a connection from under dash trying to find out where it's from. LOL
Between hog tunes brackets and offer up. I’m at 200 for quality “American” brackets and oem bags stretched with lids. Still need hardware though. But I have no gap and it looks like it supposed to. But I almost went the eBay route too. My little bit of patience and scouring paid off.
How does it look? Any pics I can see. I’m looking for bags for my softail but hate that gap
@@pichan78orellana90 I wount up trading the bike in for a glide. But full transparency. It was my main transportation back a forth to work 45 miles round trip and the bracket on the left bag broke few hundred in. Hog tunes. Hard hat full rain suit and water bottles in the bag- not much weight.Never tried a return, so I don’t know if they would have honored it or not. I would like to say they would.
I had the same problem on my fat boy I’ think a wide fiberglass fender fix my problem.
How are they holding up I'm wanting some for my dyna
They are holding up good . best $250 I spent
I bought stretched bags off amazon I bolted them right to the fender and put docking hardware on after so it pulled it right to the fender doesn’t leave a big gap and get rid of that spacer on the foot peg that will being you in more so u don’t have so much of a gap
Picture?
I love how you set them back far. gives a sleak look like a Harley should have!
Thats how they are made. You cant mount then any other way
Hello looking at getting a set for my yamaha v star.. How are they holding up ?
Thanks for this video man I've been looking for a while on how to do it without taking the whole dash apart this really helps thanks man
Damn Kye.....spray is for pest control....you're dealing with monsters little feller!!
Thanks. I have to pull my dash. Couldn't find those top 4 fasteners.
Look under the defroster grill. Your 4 screws are under that.
I've heard its not a bad board but rather a poor electrical connection with that board. Possibly just cleaning the board and putting it back in place will be enough to fix the issue. I have yet to do this, but I will be when it is warm again.
snoopdogie187 did you fix
Still winter here. Without a heated garage, I don't want to get into this project. I'll also be replacing the heater core while I'm in there because that isn't easy to do.
@@snoopdogie187 How about now? hehe Having erratic speedo issues, but i've got a garmin gps everse camera so theres no hurry for me to fix this yet.
Not yet. Its not a high priority for me.
how about now???
OK, so where do you get a new memory board for the speedometer??
Nice vid man. I have a problem with the speedometer not working and erratic needle movement on my wife's 95 Grand Cherokee and this was very helpful. Were there any obvious broken or burnt circuits on the circuit board that wasn't working?
I'll have to try this, mine didn't work at all now with new speed sensor it works every so often for like half a mile then stop then randomly works again then stops
Beat him again
Big Chief is way better
