Saw Little Charlie and the Eager Beaver Boys open for Joe Ely and the Clash Amarillo Texas been fan ever since
When I started first playing guitar we would differentiate between the sound (coming from the specific equipment used) and the tone (which comes from the player's hands and is his identifiable tonal signature). I don't recall when that shifted and everyone suddenly spoke of the "tones" which you get from this guitar and that pedal. Might have been the time when suddenly even all the small players had a pedal board because of all the different effects they thought they needed. I guess marketing people wanted players to believe that tone is just a matter of equipment (meaning money spent) rather than ability (meaning hearing, taste and practice, practice, practice). I listen to Anson play a few licks at low volume and think: Man, what a tone! You can immediately identify him by his unique tone. Tone is one of the things that distinguishes a true master from the rest of the crowd. Anson is a true master - classy, tasteful, unique and an absolute tonemonster. I just love listening to his playing.
These guys deserve a huge following, super unique sound, can't get enough of it.
This is an excellent interview (one of the best I've seen) from start to finish. During the interview James was questioned about high points in his career. He mentioned playing at the once called Mosque in Richmond, VA. When James was nine years old, he was taken there to watch Kris Kristofferson (RIP 09/28/24) perform; only later in life to find himself playing on that very same stage. Excellent recording (both video and sound) of James playing the song Jackie on a 12 string.
🤘🏻
Killer picking
Went to high school with Anson in Plano Texas. Hung out listening to him play out in a barn somewhere in a field. Think is was his grandfather's place. He is a super nice low key guy and loved to just hang out. Even after he got sorta famous I would see him at a club playing and he always remembered me and we would catch up. Now we're 70 years old. Haven't seen him in a long while but hope to see a show this year.
Brent!!! Hope that all is well! I miss seeing you, my friend! - Larry Garvin, Nashville
I have met Kevin 3 or 4 times, love the gourds and Shiny Ribs. Great down to earth guy.
I was on that bus from the ATX to the Club Dada live show. Soooo much fun!❤
Love these guys, can't wait to see them in Cincinnati October 2nd!
I’m gonna be there!
My 2 year old son and I are steady jamming you boys! Love from Maryland.
INCREDIBLE PC OF MUSIC THANK YOU ERIC!
✌🏿
😁
I was lucky enough to live on the same road where Bill Kirchen played a regular Thursday night gig in Annandale, VA. I was there almost every week. He and his band were always great!
Gary is a cool guy
Called into you guys today. Major thanks to Sean for his time and giving me a tour!
Charlie was gorgeous, talented beyond belief, charming and I remember telling his mother Kay that she had done such a great job with both will and him. I had a cocker spaniel named Charlie and a black one with long ears called Will Sexton. LOVEDt him to death.. "I Am Not Impressed" one of my favourites.
Your guys' sound is so unique and inspirational. I cant wait until you guys make your way up north. Much love from Montreal
Bobby is a beast. ☝🏼
made for early fusion
Shinyribs is a national treasure, really one of a kind.
Who's the host?
Anson 'The Poet'.
Is the foot switch “clicky” or soft touch?
Soft touch
Great video! Thanks for posting!
What a beautiful guitar! Wow! 🤯
Only I thought I got was 3 being the TS808
Sat at a table backstage at Antone's in 2011 with Eric Johnson and David Grissom for about 30 minutes. Both of them were very welcoming and I was almost speechless to be in the presence of such greatness. Unfortunately, none of it rubbed off on me, but I keep trying.
Anson is a legend.
Great interview, great guest
I saw anson funderbergh and the rockets featuring Sam Meyers back in the 80s. Amazing shows!
A great artist. Saw him at DelFest today. He was outstanding.
A legend, and a nice guy!
❤ from Oregon
This kid doesn't know who Levon Helm and The Band are? Yikes. I'm just gonna be glad that he's trying...and giving a platform to one of the greats.
Knowledge comes with time. Give 'im time. Anson is Da Man! (yet so humble about his legendary status....)
seems like such a cool dude, and even got the same name as me haha
Great interview with a living legend. Thank you.
I went to elementary school with Marlon
may want to change the title of the 7th chapter to 'Remembering Stevie Ray Vaughn' (not Stevie Wonder) , this is a dynamite interview and Charlie is a legend who has imo never got his full due, incredible talent as a songwriter and guitarist and a genuine down to Earth wonderful human being , thank you for posting and sharing this
Its a pleasant surprise to discover the "Rikshaw Billie's Burger Patrol" and my "neo-taste". Just to put you in the context of what I am talking about...I am a female, former singer, located in Germany and not close to the range of your age from any point of view. I guess, I am just into honest art of any form in any time. Keep it on Leo, cause your music is already exploding our Planet, for good ;) Can't forget to mention my respect, for the professionalism of the interviewer 👏👏👏
Wow! My jaw dropped when he played those BB King licks! What a tasteful player!
Anson is a legend. I couldn’t help but laugh when he downplayed his guitar skills - the guy’s playing is about as slick as it gets. The kid interviewing him reminded me of Chris Farley playing himself on Saturday Night Live when he interviewed various celebrities.
Hahaha he doesn’t consider himself a master. No way. He’s the cleanest player I’ve ever heard.
That's a dream guitar right there. Sounds awesome. Rock on.
Les Paul? Not SG?..
They were Les Pauls ‘til mid 1963.
I have most of Eric's albums, but does anyone know the title of the acoustic performance he did at the end of the interview?
Amazing, highly talented guitar player and inspiration for the Butthead cartoon character.
