Visiting Banff, Lake Louise, and Yoho National Park (Vlog Guide 2024)
In this video, we’ll be taking you with us to the Canadian Rockies to explore Yoho National Park, Banff, and the iconic Lake Louise (May 2023). Starting from Vancouver, we’ll cover over 2000 km on the road to get there, and we’ll make sure to let you in on some of the best things to do in this Canadian gem and how we managed to make it budget-friendly.
We embark on a three-night journey, spending the first night in a lovely little cabin in Golden, BC, overlooking the stunning Purcell Mountains. From there, we step out of our comfort zone and give ‘van life’ a try by sleeping in our makeshift camper.

Hi guys, welcome to our channel! This time, we’re taking you on a journey with us through the Canadian Rockies, exploring Yoho National Park, Banff, and the iconic Lake Louise. Starting from Vancouver, we’ll cover over 2000 km on the road to get there, and we’ll make sure to let you in on some of the best things to do in this Canadian gem.
We embark on a three-night journey, spending the first night in a lovely little cabin in Golden, BC, overlooking the stunning Purcell Mountains. From there, we step out of our comfort zone and give camping life a try by sleeping in our makeshift camper, our proud Lexus.
[Montage of scenic views and clips from the road trip]
We leave at 9 AM on Friday, taking off from Vancouver eastwards in the direction of the legendary Rocky Mountains. Along the way, we pass through Fraser Valley, a lush stretch of land just outside metro Vancouver that’s known for its agriculture. From here, the snowy peaks reveal themselves far off in the distance. As the road winds through a beautiful mountain pass near Hope, we eventually shoot out into a long stretch of BC’s interior region.
So far, we’ve covered 2 microclimates, passing lakes and wineries, We continue on for another two hours till we finally reach beautiful Golden.
Pulling up, we find solace in the cozy Mountain View Cabins (which we highly recommend). With spectacular views over the Purcell Mountains, the cabins are located just outside of Golden, offering a peaceful atmosphere. We arrive late in the afternoon and are greeted by a large family who invites us over to their bonfire. They generously share smores and even a sip of whiskey while we admire the spectacular mountain views, slowly enveloped by the crisp glow of golden hour.
The cabin has a rustic charm, and once the camp goes dark, only a DVD player for entertainment. We rummage through their selection and settle on a nice 80s creature feature. In the morning, we wake up to the buzz of the surrounding forests and enjoy a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs crafted in the shared kitchen.
