Not for beginners. I've used Learn and Master Guitar (First) then Guitar Tricks (second) then True Fire (3rd - 2025). Thankfully just for a gander I always do the beginner courses over to see their foundation for beginners. True Fire is the WORST of the three. The Tempo and pace is just way to fast for an absolute beginner to learn anything meaningful. You'll just get frustrated at the pace they go, and say the hell with it. Guitar Tricks & L&M guitar go slower. Way more beginner friendly, if you've never played guitar before. Or you can try Justin guitar (it's free). Other than that True Fire seems decent enough. The site is still poorly laid out, others do it better but it's workable.

The teacher and motivation means allot, some of those teachers looked dry and boring.

I have used Playground Sessions for the past 4 years. I learned lots but lately since the original owners left they have quailty control issues. Before there was hardly any errors in the sheet music. Maybe one error every 6 months. Now every new release has multiple errors on each song. I will be cancelling my subscription amd going with Piano Marvel for the next year.

I think $39 is beyond reasonable for such a comprehensive course. I was delighted to save even more and get the Pianoforall course on Udemy for just $20. Compare this to Stephen Ridley's hype-filled, overpriced set of "shortcuts" and "secrets" for nearly US$2000 and it is a tremendous course and value! I am an experienced piano player with lots of built-up frustration due to having many holes in my technique and concepts. To make advancements, I decided to go back to the basics.

Curious if you would comment on OTHER COURSES that would be in the chord / lead sheet STYLE of teaching that PianoForAll uses here? Are there any SERIOUS COMPETITORS TO CONSIDER in that arena?

I wish someone would make a piano learning app that works like the old computer game Mario Teaches Typing. Remember that? It was a Nintendo Mario brothers computer game in the 90s for teaching kids to type on a keyboard. It would show you a hand typing the letter the correct way and you just imitate it until you can do it fast. Then gradually add more letters and then words and then whole sentences. I still make all the complicated finger motions to this day the way that game taught me. I don’t see why they can’t make a piano learning app that does the same thing. And I wish they’d do a better job of teaching you to count the rest and read the rhythm, not just the notes. The rest should change colors as you play through the piece too. And it should have you practice reading groups of notes that aren’t necessarily a song, so you actually learn to pay attention to what’s written, and actually learn to read the score, instead of just memorizing a song by ear after you struggled through it a enough times to know what it sounds like so you don’t need to read the notes anymore. There doesn’t seem to be any piano learning programs that do these things and it drives me crazy that no one makes one.

So which software do you recommend for a kid learning piano alone?

Which of these Apps can be used on a PC?

Pianote is my favorite. I use it all the time. I also use Simply Piano. I think that they complete each other. I also have a subscription for music sheets and another one for scores. Scores teach me how to play my favorite songs. I just love the piano. I just don't like to search for hours. It's my way. You have to find yours.

My first week playing piano marvel love the program.

Justin Guitar is my favorite along with the Guitareo. You may find both of them here on UA-cam.

Started on Playground Sessions. Switched to Piano Marvel. Why. Because -- no way around it, you (a) need to know how to sight read, and sight read well. And (b) you make slow/steady progress with a METHOD. Yes. You have to play Twinkle, Twinke before you tackle that rock song or classical piece. Piano Marvel is HONEST in its approach. It doesn't dangle a bunch of popular songs in front of you that you're not ready for. There is a reason that MUSIC TEACHERS USE PIANO MARVEL and not the others. True -- it doesn't have loads of pop songs. That's not their focus. Use this program to sight read, practice every day, after a couple years you'll be able to read whatever sheet music and play whatever you want. There are no shortcuts to learning piano and you have to crawl before you can walk and play music that his congruent to your skill level.

Please make an update with current state + add offline (one time purchase) options.

How about “ultimate guitar”?

Having the finger numbers is good, but I need an app that shows the note name as well. I tried Real Piano Pro (Android) but it does not work with my midi keyboard. Any suggestions? I have an iPad as well but this app is not made for iOS. Simply Piano is good but no names on notes.
