LARRY DIXON SR MEMORIAL MONTAGE
A collection of footage and stills from Sr's career, wonderfully put together by Cole Coonce. Tracks included are San Fernando, Lions, Irwindale, Orange County, Ontario and Indy. Cars included are his '55 Chevy, Fiat roadster, the Fireside Inn roadster, the Smirnoff dragster, the Howard Cam Rattler, the Larry & Pat Dixon front engine fueler, the Real Don Steele car, the Howard Cam Rat and Larry Minor's first entry into asphalt drag racing. One of the clips shows Sr racing Dennis Wilson from the Beach Boys in his Yellow Cobra getting a introduction to Larry Dixon horsepower. Also shown is what not to do when the throttle sticks in a Fiat and the front wheel breaks. Hope you enjoy.

I don’t imagine that’s a cheap experience, but who wouldn’t wanna take a ride in a top fueler especially with Larry Dixon as your pilot, one of the greatest top fuel drivers of all time imo.
I’d definitely be up for this, especially with Larry Dixon at the wheel, one of the all time great Top fuel pilots.

Does the engine on this motor cycle have 2 magnetos or electronic ignition? Just in case one fails?
It has two complete ignition/magneto systems to help burn the amount of fuel necessary to make 10,000+ horsepower
@@LarryDixonRacing I had a 1946 1,200 cc Harley Davidson Knuckle Head. I installed a Joe Hunt Magneto. I ended up cutting off the voltage regulator mount on the Knuckle Head. So the magneto would be installed in line with the engine. I couldn’t use regular silicone core spark plug wires. They just wouldn’t produce a spark on the spark plugs . I ended up purchasing clear copper stranded core spark plug wires. When I tested the magneto out of the Knuckle Head engine. Using the stranded copper core spark plug wires. To test the Magneto I used a drill,a wood dowel and electrical tape. I couldn’t believe the amount of spark the magneto was putting out. When riding my Knuckle Head. At a 4 lane road at a red light. Any vehicle next to me with their radio on. The Joe Hunt Magneto put out an intense magnetic field When I would rev the engine. The magneto’s magnetic field would cause unbelievable interference to the vehicle’s radio. Causing the vehicle’s radio to put out this extremely loud whining sound. It was hilarious and the person in the vehicle next to my motorcycle. Would generally shake their head and laugh.

Ultimately, insurance. If going 0-250 in 3 seconds isn’t enough we do have a single seat car you can drive if you want 0-300 in less then 4 seconds.

Let me first say that I think that car is absolutely awesome and I think it's GREAT that you built that and allow people to have a top fuel experience that will elude 99% of us. Going 250 in 3 is something I would LOVE to experience(I doubtI can afford it though.) I was simply asking if the reason for no full run was liability(insurance) and you answered that. You get a 10/10 from this guy brother. Keep doin what you're doing! 👊

@@FaithFilled1111thanks for the words. We have a top fuel car that we have licensed and had people enter nhra events. If someone wanted to drive the top fuel car, you would basically go through the licensing process and with that you would get to make a full pull several times.
