Pulled it out this morning and threw it together. Needed to bring some heat to the channel. I hope you enjoy!

Post Malone's Congratulations KEYBOARD COVER!
What has really been annoying me is that I'll work on something so hard and then when I take it out to a rehearsal or go play it live the reaction is like, "we get it- you can do that well but its not really what we want", or from the perspective of non-musicians its like I was born "talented" and im just having fun now. It took me MANY grueling hours of focus on this one little thing to get it! No one wants to root for someone who is already at the top- they either want to mooch off of them or bring them down. Then from my perspective, I don't even want to be one "talented" guy demonstrating how great I am to a bunch of passive listeners or followers- I want to collaborate! I want to create things together with other creative people.
Great point, that’s happened to me before. A lot of people don’t realise how much work goes into the smallest details in some performances 😅
You paid for this?
No money was spent in the making of this video
Fantastic video man! loved it
Thank you! 🙏
Someone once told Vladimir Horowitz, "I would give my life to play like you." Horowitz replied, "That's what I did."
Classic
dude - i relate to everything in this video, thanks so much for giving your thoughts on it, it helped to change my mindset!
Glad I’m not the only one 😅
Best thing about music is it’s all subjective and often the more simple stuff sounds better than the technical difficult stuff. Eg Frusciante’s super simple solo in Wet Sand sounds infinitely better to me than anything from eg polyphia, despite their skill levels being insane and demotivating me more
Dude you nailed it. The simple stuff is so good , that solo is a great example. So much feeling.
@I could say a lot because it’s such a fun topic to go deep into but you covered a lot in this lad, appreciate your vids
Dude... I have no idea how I stumbled upon your channel but damn I needed this video rn. Been experiencing the things you talk about for so long and it's slowly killing the passion I had. It's so easy nowdays to want to BE a great musician while really it's better for yourself, and for your music, if you just DO great music instead. Seems obvious maybe but it is very difficult to remember when you are constantly surrounded by people showing off their chops and skills in your face every day. Either way great video, enjoyed it a lot :)
I’m glad you can relate! I found my passion diminishing with this trend as well, and I still fall into it sometimes. You fall into this never ending grind. It’s almost like you have to keep reminding yourself to come back to the present.
its so easy to demotivate yourself with the internet, just not with music content, anything skill related really, material stuff too if you care. then you got the news... shit. social media really is just a net negative for me. I deleted and tried to block everything
Too true, it applies to most things
but my narcissistic delusions of grandeur! ;(
I know, the truth hurt me too 🤣
Awesome video man 🫶🏻 You can tell that you have a true connection with music and the piano und that you‘re a true musician.
Thank you! That means a lot 🙏
Only 300 views is crazy man love your enthusiasm ❤ and thank you for these tips man! This is really high content keep it up!!
Thank you! It’s my own fault, I had a lot of momentum on the channel in June but I wasn’t consistent, so I’m just in the process of rebuilding haha
I've been playing since i was a kid . Ive only been consistent for about 2 years, but I feel like I'm stuck in beginner-intermediate purgatory. Any tips or guidelines?
Yes you are exactly the kind of person I help. I have heaps of advice and videos on the subject, coming in the new year I’ve got one titled ‘How I went from beginner to intermediate on the piano’. Join Unlock the Keyboard and keep an eye out for my programme next year, it’s aimed at solving this exact problem. For now, learn your chord extensions if you haven’t (7th, 9th, 11th, 13th).
I nave a keyboard newbie question: does it *really* matter what fingers i use to play the notes so long as they get played? i have a sub to another tut and it gives finger cues but sometimes i say hey wait a sec i can play this with say my thumb instead of my index
80% yes (most of the time). I explain this in the course if you want to understand it properly. In short, there are 88 keys on the piano but only 5 fingers on a hand. So we need a system to move more fluently up and down the keys, otherwise you will get into ‘dead ends’ or play twister with your fingers 😂. This system is called ‘Fingerings’.
Expanding a bit, the fingerings listed are generally what the composer felt would be appropriate, but if there’s something more comfortable you find, try it out! The most important part is to be consistent every time you play the piece; if you find a different finger more comfortable, always use that fingering when you practice.
@@zeBugMan thank you that's what i suspected, thanks for the encouragement
I am a beginner and i was fascinated by your cover of Chamber of reflection. Is your tutorial beginner friendly or is it for intermediates
Do you mean my course? It’s perfect for beginners! You will learn a lot. I did also make a tutorial for chamber of reflection, it’s late-beginner, it will be helpful on some way.
Thank you, I really needed this! Keep up the good work. I just get on your course, wish me luck :)
Awesome, good luck!!
Been swallowing these pills for the last few months. But ultimately I think the climate for music will always be larger than the industry can afford. Sucks now that there really isn't any money in it, and while that's not the driving force for any of us to be doing this, it makes it harder to justify to others as we age and mature. I think the musical journey is something that only a few will understand. It's a way of life. It sucks having to minimise ambitions to get your responsibilities taken care of.
Yeah man it’s too real. Even now I err on the optimistic side and pay the price (literally 😅) . Anyway we choose music because we love it.
Summary: leave your ego at the door. So be humble towards: 0:10 Your learning curve 3:12 The music, harmony and band 6:38 The basic techniques 9:00 The potential of your instrument 10:28 Your peers, team and collabs.

Didn’t know you were a musician 🤣
Good video thanks for this, i can feel your genuine want to help. Will be applying these!
Thank you I'm glad you see so. It took me a lot of effort to make the course 😅
bro is looking radiant
so good! these type of videos alongside your piano tutorials would be amazing
Thanks mate! I’ll consolidate them inside my skool community but keep them on two seperate channels so I can grow my personal brand and unlock the keyboard alongside each other
what an amazing cover !!!!! thank you
Thank you ! 🙏
backdrop goes insanely hard
I’m leaving this space in 3 weeks 😭 so I gotta make as many videos here as possible before Xmas

Sheets please?
I don’t make sheets but I can make a tutorial
@@joshbottz I have a friend that will make me sheets from your video lol it will be more simple. It will cost me $ but i don’t mind. I can share with you after if you’re interested. Edit: I think many ppl will benefit from a tutorial video anyways
Go for it bro! I’ve never worked with sheet music, it doesn’t resonate with me but I appreciate it. Good luck learning it I’m glad you want to learn my arrangement!
Fucking awesome mate, I love these arrangements of guitar songs made to work for a piano solo. Another one I would love to see a rendition of is Coconut Skins by Damien Rice.
Thank you! I really appreciate it. Making King Krule arrangements on piano taught me new rhythmic patterns for that exact reason.
@@joshbottz do you happen to have sheet music available for this?
@@spicy6892 Nah no sheet music but I make piano tutorials. I am planning to make one for this song at some point soon.
🎷
this is so beautiful
Sound really nice. I love this song

That’s too kind man thank you
love your covers man keep it up
Thanks man, I haven’t made one in a while, maybe I’ll get back into it

Please, please forgive my jaded initial knee-jerk reaction: when the video started, I thought: "Oh great. Go all-in, risk everything, and six years later, you will have 1400 subscribers." =( Then I kept listening and realized a few things. 1: You have amazing advice and production. 2: You're still "showing up every single day" and making content, which is truly inspiring. 3: Even if you are starting out slow, your channel still showed up in _MY_ feed out of the blue. That realization helped me feel better about now being the best time ever to fully commit. <3
Thank you! 🙏 that really means a lot. To be honest actually, I stopped uploading consistently on this channel for the time being as I’ve been focussed on creating an online keyboard course and building another channel more niched down teaching piano tutorials. But I’ve got such a massive list of ideas for this channel and I’ve got the skills now to make the UA-cam thing really work out. You’re getting me hyped up to return! (Probably November).
