It makes me so happy that these people, who never knew each other, and were thrown together on this little sci fi TV show, all remained friends throughout their entire lives and in many ways remained a family. RIP Guy, Jonathan, Mark, Bobby, Dick and Irwin. Thanks for the memories.

Is the box labeling on front or back any different between the red and yellow light versions. If the box is sealed, how do you know which version you have.

When that landing gear came down in 1965, I was hooked for life.

In all of sci-fi no other sound compares to the engine sound of the Jupiter Two! It's unmatched and has that unearthly, yet immense sound of power! No other ship can match this sound which I can listen to all day! The best sound ever created!

Great seeing Veronica Cartwright in this! I've heard that there was an episode planned in the original series which would have had Veronica making a guest appearance as an alien princess, but for some reason it was scrapped. A shame . I think it would have been great ! Both sisters were beautiful teenage girls at the time, and Veronica's intense but disarmingly charming acting style would have provided a good contrast with Angela's more carefree , spontaneous style.

The Jupiter 2 was always fascinating to me but the star was Robot B9 hands down. Everyone wanted to have a friend like Will Robinson had.

As far as I undertsand, John Williams wrote both Lost in Space themes, but very little of the incidental music, for which Allen simply lifted music from other sources. I believe the only episode where Williams wrote the full score was "The Keeper" starring Micheal Rennie (not coincidentally one of the series' best episodes (and its only 2 parter)). Also, if I'm not mistaken, most of the in-flight sequence here is the Gemini 12, not the Jupiter 2, the former having no lower deck as is apparent.

It's truly amazing sound effects as well as visual is simply out of this world.Lost In Space Stands tall superior even to this day. Super technology way ahead of its time. The effects of the Jupiter 2 flying through space or across the horizon landings take offs is incredibly realistic. This In 1965! How amazing is that! 👍🌟💫✨🎆🎇

The flashing light you see in the top bubble of the Jupiter 2 filming miniature was created by a rotating mirror set at a 45 degree angle to reflect outward the light from within the model. It was spun by the same motor spinning the fusion core lights. I believe this rotating mirror was supposed to represent the Astrogator up inside the top bubble.

Diabolical dwarfs! The very first time I ever saw a color TV we went over to my uncles house for a party one night and he had just bought a new color TV and on it was, no kidding, The Great Vegetable Rebellion! I'll never forget that. I only watched a few minutes of it. There were so many people there and so much was going on,.. it was my favorite TV show and it was on color TV! and I could have cared less. It was a party, man! and it was the 1960s. Who's gonna miss out on that?

Not only is it the Jupiter 2 , I'll go as far as to decipher it's the Hero Jupiter 2 , because when Greg Jein saved the pod-dropper J2 from the Fox trash bin, we see that it still had it's reddish paint from it's use in City Beneath The Sea. This 4ft Jupiter 2 is all silver in 1979, so for that reason it is not only the Jupiter 2 , it is the Hero Jupiter 2. It's been common knowledge for 30+ years that the Jupiter 2 model from LIS was used in the show, Soap. And here it is. 👍

No disparagement on the actors in this series,they played their roles well but I liked the first season better when the camp was not present better than the rest. Although,there are some scenes that are memorable in later years. Taken purely as comedy,the latter years were fun. As a kid,all the Irwin Allen series were 'must see TV' for me.
