I am a 300 level mechanical engineering student in Nigeria and I have in mind to do my masters in the United States, GOD willing, I would also like to work over there after concluding my program, in lieu of this , do I need to be COREN certified before leaving Nigeria, or can I just join ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers) after my arrival in the U.S? I have felt like I'm not too smart, and that has got in the way of me pursuing a PhD. That was until I read a discussion on Quora where someone said PhD is not a measure of smartness, but instead a measure of resilience. I haven't even begun my masters degree, but I feel positive about going for a PhD after my second cycle of studies.
