On our recent Avalon Waterways Tour to Peru, we stayed at the Sumaq Machu Picchu Hotel. It was a great hotel, just 20 mins from Machu Picchu. The rooms were beautiful and the restaurant had great food for both dinner and breakfast! Casa Andina Sacred Valley Hotel & Room Tour

We stayed only 1 night at this Casa Andina in the Sacred Valley as we headed to the train to Machu Picchu. The room was comfortable, heat only, there was no air in the room. Amazon River Cruising- Delfin III Cabin and Ship Tour

The Legend Paracas Resort, Peru - Nazca Lines

After completing our flight over the Nazca Lines, we stayed overnight at this beautiful resort called the Legend Paracas Resort. Nazca Lines in Southern Peru

To see the Nazca Lines, we drove 3 hours and 30 mins from Lima to Paracas in southern Peru. The airport currently only serves the small planes that fly over the Nazca Lines. The plane only carries 10 passengers and 2 pilots, so everyone had a window seat! Casa Andina Premium was the hotel Avalon used when we were in Lima. It was a wonderful hotel, great breakfast, excellent service, but the rooms all had very worn out carpet. This was May 2024, I hope they change it out soon. Also, Avalon booked standard rooms for us. The two beds are doubles, very small for tall Americans! The Nieuw Amsterdam is a beautiful ship. We did Amazon ‘lite’ (compared to your adventure) on HAL earlier this year and loved it. I’m amazed at the interior of your river boat. We passed so many of them and I’d never have guessed they were so well appointed on the inside. Great video, nice channel! Subscribed 🙂
Yes, the ship was amazing. We looked into HAL, but thought this would be more up close and personal experience. Thanks for subscribing and watching our videos.
I believe HAL makes you sign your drink receipt in order to be able to control your drink package consumption! HAL limits you to 15 TOTAL drinks per day, before staring to charge the cost of the drinks! (You get NO credit for port days when you don’t use your drink limits!) Celebrity, although they also have the same limits it is not “strictly” monitored! Only if you become drunk and disorderly will they monitor your drinks! Yes! HAL hopes to embarrass you into adding more tip on EACH receipt you sign! I just BOLDLY cross out the added tips line and carry lose $$ to personally hand to a deserving server! Regrettably HAL has turned nickel and dimming the guests into an art form! They are not subtle, like most cruise lines! It’s a shame because overall HAL can be a lovely cruise line with beautiful ships: not glitzy but elegant!
@horacioyrausquin4601 Yes it does help keep track of drinks. On Virgin now, no signing, they just scan wrist band and drinks show up. No feelings of having to tip. A lot more enjoyable experience. Thanks for watching our videos.
@@WHATSNEXT-TRACY_SCOTT Same on Celebrity Cruises, your consumption is recorded every time the bar swipes your card, they don’t make it obvious. I have found that with the drink package they don’t monitor your bottles of water, HAL does and it’s included in your limit!
@horacioyrausquin4601 Yes, the water is definitely annoying and cans of soda also. If I remember correctly.

I sailed on her within the first 3 months of her first sailing! It was surprisingly chaotic! Hopefully, 🤞 HAL has had enough time to improve and get better organized. Let’s see!

@@WHATSNEXT-TRACY_SCOTT Will do, thanks! The Grandeur and Explorer are sister ships so they should be equally amazing. We are also going to do an MSC Explora II cruise in January. It is one of MSC’s luxury cruise ships, which is supposed to be on par with Regent. Our travel agent turned us on to those and she really likes both Regent and Explora. We look forward to a comparison, but we already think that Regent will be the winner. Explora does not offer free laundry and free shore excursions, so they are already losing the competition as far as we are concerned. Time will tell.
MSC Explora looks very intriguing. We are booked on Silver Sea in December. Really interested how it compares to Regent.
@@WHATSNEXT-TRACY_SCOTT Yes, we were actually booked on the Sun Princess just to experience Princess for the first time. Our travel agent mentioned that we should check out The Explora II because she loved The Explora. We looked it up and the dates aligned perfectly with our Sun Princess cruise, so we cancelled the Sun and booked Explora II. Both ships are very new, and we can get on the Sun Princess and do that anytime. Explora had a much better itinerary that is not “cookie cutter” and can get to smaller ports since it is a smaller ship, so we decided to check it out. Silver Sea looks like something we should also look into.
We have found that we like the smaller ships and longer cruises. Yes, the smaller ship go to different ports, which is nice.

The Eurodam experience was not all that great. Too many passengers crowding the chow hall, too many children causing a ruckus, too much sales pressure to buy jewelry, art, photography packages. I felt like I stumbled into a time share condo seminar.
Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry to hear you did not enjoy your cruise. We really did not have that experience on the Eurodam. Not sure how long your cruise was but we have found that if it's 10+ days, there are not as many kids. Thanks for watching.

We have never sailed on Regent before, but will be on The Grandeur and The Explorer in the next year. Both for two weeks and both in Concierge Suites. You mentioned that laundry is complimentary for Concierge Suites. Is that the same for all categories on Regent? Thanks for the video. D

It is a treat for sure, different then other cruise lines.
Regent has very inconsistent food and crew members blame cruisers for every issue that comes up, as they have a lot of bad attitudes. Definitely their chefs and cooks need better training especially in cooking consistent dishes. Also the crew needs better attitudes in dealing with cruisers.

Sailed the Caribbean on the Grandeur in February of this year. Excellent experience from start to finish. Sailing again with Regent in February and September of '25. Don't mind paying a little more to get a little more👍

We're going on Grandeur in a month, but thinking about booking for a cruise on Navigator a year from now (July 2025). I understand that Navigator will be going in for refurbishment at the end of 2025, so not surprised that she's looking a bit worn.

Mi was scheduled to be on the Navigator but it’s been changed to the Voyager, so that might be good. It’s my first cruise in 35 years. I chose Regent because my sister loved her cruise and I need a small ship. Thanks for this info

Great tips. We’re sailing from Miami next week Friday!! What time do you suggest getting to the port to check in. We’ve booked the splash of romance package. Also we hope to change some of our dining times… should we go to guest services first thing??
We arrived at 12:15, they gave us our wristbands immediately but then sent us outside to the line to wait. It was actually 1:30 that they sent us inside through security to a large waiting area. We waited 30 minutes while they boarded the suite guests. We boarded at 2:00. Yes, go to guest services asap, also know that the app is great for changing dining. No, we tipped the naturalists on the last day. Not all of them, only the ones we were with most often. It worked out that we had like the same 3 throughout the trip. Not saying that was right but I can say we did not notice tipping throughout, only on the last night. I don't remember a weight restrictions, it was a regular commercial plane so I would say it's normal. Yes we snorkeled. Yes, they provided the wetsuits, etc. I believe it was offered 4 times. Entertainment is non-existent. HAL cheaps out with comedians. I want to see live shows: singing and dancing. Last Call is excellent, but the Broadway show is like nails on a chalk board.

I’m thinking about taking this trip with Avalon. I’m interested in Macau Picchu and altitude sickness😢also, how many flights of stairs and walkability factor of Manchu Picchu
We had already experienced altitude sickness in Quito a few years ago. This time we were prepared with Diamox. We took it for 6 days during the trip. Machu Picchu was tough for some on our tour, but everyone made it the first day. The second day a few decided to skip the tour, but it was actually easier. I never heard a number of steps but after the initial climb (guessing 400 uneven stairs with landings for resting) the stairs are spread out with plenty of stopping between them. Please keep an eye our channel as we will continue to add more content, including Machu Picchu, Delfin III and other hotels that Avalon booked for us. Thanks for the reply! I’ve subscribed. I’ve read that some people say that Diamox can have bad side affects. Did you find this to be true? I’m a little paranoid about the altitude. Was extremely tired on a trip to Breckinridge a few years back. Want to avoid if possible. Thanks 😀
By the 4th day of taking it I started feeling nauseous, Scott never had any side effects. I would take it again bc an upset stomach was better than the constant headache and shallow breathing that occurred in Quito.

Great question! This cruise was round trip out of Ft. Lauderdale, it went to Half Moon Cay, Jamaica, Mahogany Bay, Belize City, and Cozumel.

You can actually walk / wade over to Sunset Beach at Low Tide, there are a couple of narrow channels waist deep at best. Also Fox’s live in burrows under neath a couple of those Gazebo’s / stairwells. And believe it or not Manatees have been living in the Summer under docks on the back bay side of where you are. They swam by me a couple years ago and really freaked us out.

We did not get into the hot pool or the hot tub. But, as we recall, there were no jets running. I don't know if there is a switch to turn on jets or not:( Sorry, and thanks for watching.
