McFarlanes 7 inch DC Multiverse Adam West BATMAN figure Repainted & Reworked!
Finally got my McFarlane 7 inch Adam West BATMAN in and I think he rocks! And yes, I repainted his blue costume parts to match the cape and did some other stuff too! Take a look!
The figure out of box was not bad, but it has several issues I had to address...one, the cape was too long, so I trimmed that down by nearly an inch or to the top of his boots.
Next, the blue costume parts were very much the wrong shade of blue! Almost an oceanic aqua blue, not the shimmery purplish blue of the cape material. So, mixed a color with water based acrylics, using specifically,
Extreme Sheen Metallic paint SAPPHIRE blue DPM17 by Deco Art,
...and mixed that with...
Createx Water based Pearlized Pearl Plum 5314 ...and
a few drops of Vallejo Model Color Black 70.950 to tone it all down a bit.
Mix that right (ie EXPERIMENT!) and you get pretty much the shade of the shimmery cape material.
Then, since I did not take the figure apart, except for the head which I removed with hot water, I masked off the cape, and spray coated the freshly repainted figure with Mr Hobby Mr Super Clear MATT spray. That seals it in, and matt coats everything, grey parts of the costume especially!
I then touched up the few shiny parts with Intermediate Gauzy Agent Shine Enhancer, which adds gloss in layers, and took some of the matt out of the cowl area that is black, to match the sheen of the material, and really, seriously glossed the yellow utility belt, and belt bat emblem.
I also added a little gloss to the chest bat area, so as to make it look more like it did in the show. It was not flat, but a little bit glossy.
I didn't have to repaint the face, which was well painted.
I did gloss the eyes, which I did not repaint, and that was it!
EASY PEASY!

Mattel's Jurassic World Thrash & Devour - T REX - Repainted! With Jurassic Park figures & Raptor
Переглядів 37814 днів тому
After a decade or more of not having a decent T-rex model or figure, I finally snagged an inexpensive one and after a fairly quick repaint, I have a fun one back in the collection again! The T-Rex and Raptor figures were both repainted by hand, no airbrush used, with some washes of Vallejo Light sand over the body, some Orange Ochre washed here and there, and some dry brushed areas with Burnt U...

      Took me a while ole buddy. I ordered him directly from McFarlane, then...I saw them at Walmart. Coulda had him several weeks ago. Not sure what McFarlane is up to with that. Offering figures through the site, making you pay in full for them there, then distributing them out to other vendors BEFORE shipping to the site buyers. Not a good practice if you ask me. Almost makes me want to simply wait for any of their figures at stores now. No sense pre-ordering any. No advantage at any rate. But yeah, I got him!

    Which Batman is sitting in the Batmobile with his arms neatly tucked in? I thought the Kenner Batman figs from this line couldn’t sit in the car without their arms sticking out, lol. On a personal note, I too disliked this movie for killing the Batman franchise and was happy when the Nolan era got things back on track, but now that I’m older and have my own kid, he loves this one and I am seeing it through new eyes. Time heals all wounds and I have to say, Batman & Robin is really a lot of fun and sort of endearing in it’s over-the-top zaniness. I actually like it better than Forever because it’s more consistent in tone and knows exactly what it is. Forever tried to straddle the line between dark and camp and it’s kinda awkward at times. B&R is just straight up 60s Batman with a 90s veneer, lol.

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023 7 днів тому

      Totally agreed! The car came with it's own model scale Batman figure, so he fits right in. No figure would fit this kit. As for the movie, isn't it strange how, as just another movie now, not THE LAST ONE OUT, Batman & Robin is just a wacky episode! Good call! I enjoy it, and even enjoy the characters. More than I used to.

    • @spencer6891
      @spencer6891 4 дні тому

      I thought it looked a little small to be the Kenner one! It’s amazing they made the Kenner one such that the figures couldn’t fit properly inside. Looks like a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing…or the vehicle department not knowing what the figure department was doing. Lol. Anyway, yeah, we had B&R on again last night and my wife said “this crazy movie gets better every time I see it.” 😂

    The big problem with this tank was that it was very underpowered. They lost more of these to mechanical issues than to allied fire. For info they had stopped using Zimmerit by the time this tank was built. They found it too time consuming, expensive and they realized it just wasn’t needed.

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023 18 днів тому

      I had learned some of that, that the Maybach engine was essentially the same one running the Tiger I and Panther models, and that this tank, being so much heavier, wore it out. The Zimmerit thing I had not heard. I am not partial to it on models, so I didn't bother adding it, but that is interesting. I wanted a clean model of the Tiger II to go with my large scale Tiger I and Panther G, so this was fine. Thanks for the comments!

    I want to paint the black cowl, gauntlets and boots on Batman to match the suit like the 6-pack version. What color paint would you recommend? Maybe Vallejo Blue Gunmetal?

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023 25 днів тому

      No! Lose the terrible and inaccurate plastic colors! Heat and take him apart, paint all armor and body with Vallejo "Oily Steel" and darken the skin of the face a bit, The BELT IS GOOD! Leave it alone. Get him a nice, pleather wired cape, spray all the repainted parts with Mr Hobby Mr Super Clear Matt spray, let dry, gloss coat the belt, knees, elbows, arm blades and eyes, and put him back together! VOILA! He will not only better match your repainted Robin, he will look like he did in the movie! It was the lighting that made him look bluish! He was a solid, overall graphite color. The clear matt coat will not kill the sheen of the metallic repaint, it will enhance it! Trust me! Spray Robin too! You'll see! De-Toys them immediately!

    • @decadentdave
      @decadentdave 25 днів тому

      @@LesWalker2023 actually looking at the movie and photos of the costume prop the Sonar Suit is actually a dark gunmetal gray. Oily Steel is much too shiny silver like Leadbelcher. Needs to be darker like Rubber Black only metallic. Maybe mixing Rubber Black with Metal Medium would work. EDIT: I remember now that Metal Medium is exactly the same as Pearl White and mixing it with colors actually lightens the base color several shades so I am thinking Folkart Metallic Charcoal Black would be a perfect match and still be metallic.

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023 25 днів тому

      @@decadentdave Depends on the light. That's why I'd spray it with a matt coat. Kills the shiny and makes it more dark toned like the movie. Note mine in the video. It is brightly lit, but in lower light, it looks pretty dark. Just saying. But, if you do mix with a flat black, it will tone it down also. I just stand by the Oily Steel shade. Some repros, especially the Hot Toys figure of Batman are way too dark and glossy. And why HT and McF makes the gloves boots and cowl darker, is beyond me. Ever since I first saw the movie in 1995, it was all one shade of graphite.

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023 25 днів тому

      JUST went online and had to really search for some unfiltered images, and found four that all are from different sources, and when taken in, the Sonar suit is A. Lighter than it looks in many photos and images, B. has less color, and again, is more a graphite shade, but not a dark one, and C. wavers between shiny (probably polished or oiled for photos) and a more matte with a soft sheen look. So, I know I have not missed this one. See the video of my custom made 1/6 Sonar suit, and my video of the McFarlane figure repainted. Both, painted apart, look the same colorwise. Same shades, same finish painted nearly a year or more apart. Trust me. If I could share the pics I have, you could see it at a glance. However it comes out, best of luck to you on it!

    I don’t have the 6 pack one I have the Batmobile version. I replaced the cape with the GPslot wired pleather cape. The Batsymbol is gold. I want to repaint it yellow but should I base coat it white first so the yellow hue comes out correctly or can I just paint the yellow over the gold?

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023 26 днів тому

      I would at least paint the white in. And when you do the yellow, if using Vallejo acrylic colors, mix deep yellow with a small bit, a drop or two depending on how much you mix, of Wood Grain brown. It needs that to make the golden yellow hue you are looking for. Then, paint that in over the white, in at least two coats so it's rich. Thin coats. Not thick and gloppy. When totally dried, TAKE YOUR TIME, and rim the black back in on the bat and outer rim. When that is dried, coat it with a clear glosscoat like Intermediate Gauzy or at least a nice clear gloss varnish. But thin! You can always layer. Let me know how it goes.

    Excellent build - the best I've seen, so far. I love the attention to detail on the mechanical sharks' rough hide. Rewatched the 4k recently, and discovered another gem (hiding in plain sight): the side view shot of the mechanical shark, snapping away at Quint's legs, reveals some damage to the shark's gill slits (bleeding). Perhaps the shark stabbed itself on the broken planking, after destroying the ORCA's stern, injuring itself?

      Thanks for the kind words. I used some two part epoxy putty and made teeny teeth laid out on wax paper. When they hardened and set up, I simply trimmed them as I applied to the mouth, for size, and glued them in place with super glue gel. Was not hard, but took some time. Practice first, then give it a go. Oh, you do have to trim out all the old teeth!

      It is fun to get these in the mail! Thanks by the way! And glad to have you aboard! Repainting this one is so easy, if you choose to do so. No need to repaint the tunic, but the green has got to go! Get some of the paint I show, it is cheap at Walmart and Hobby Lobby places, and some good hobby spray, Mr Hobby Mr Clearcoat Matt is what I suggest. Really coats and preserves your paints. And if you take him apart, arms, legs, diaper, etc., and repaint the greens, then spray and put him back together, the satisfaction is guaranteed! Give it a try if you feel adventurous!

    I actually came across this video by accident I wasn't looking for it. I did see the first part liked and subscribed but haven't watched yet. But I did watch this final built model. The paint work is just fine and the look is just like the real Bruce. The face is exactly as I remember those eyes as it pops it's head out of the water. That's a great model you have there. I'm in Australia so I'm not sure because I'd like to know where I would look or search for this to buy. I also have in mind to scratch build the shark but of course not that animatronic version. I couldn't make those parts. That's in the case I can't afford to buy it especially I can only buy from eBay and overseas will cost me a lot in exchange rates and custom charges. I know of Jaws since 1975 I was 8 years old as I watched Bruce scare the living daylights out of me on the big screen. I was taken by my sisters although the only thing I can't remember is if I knew what I was up for. I can remember that like it was last week. It's the best of Steven Spielberg. The Shark that was uncooperative at times to the Shark is working. It's a classic. Your right that Shark did a great job than those CGI versions. Yes they are ok but Bruce was magic back in the day. I'm happy that he was salvaged from some dump sight and restored for all to see. So well done on a fantastic mechanical miniature version. I just remembered I do have a model of a shark and dive cage with a diver with camera by Pegasus models. I haven't built it yet I'm trying to work out how I'm going to set it up as to make it look like suspended under water. This is a Trickey model. I'm not a professional modeller just amateur. So Wonderful model build the colours are exceptional. I'd like to know what greys you used although there's so many grey colours. Excellent work.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️

      Good hearing from you! And thanks for the kind words on my work. As for the actual model, I think the only place you can get it is through Stannarts. That's www.stannarts.com and David Stann is a great guy, so ask about how you could get one. Get into his site, and ask a question in a comment or something. I know he would want you to have one if you can get it. Tell him Les sent you and maybe get through. Best of luck, and enjoy it if you do get it! I will comment later on the colors I used once you get one. No point in all that now. (BTW, I did not ever use white paint as a color though! I used "White-Grey" by Vallejo for the lightest color and "Ivory" for the teeth. I think I used "Red-Black" thinned down as a wash for the gummy parts. But, no use of actual WHITE on the entire model!)

      @@LesWalker2023Thanks for that reply. Much appreciated. I hope I can get through to stannarts and speak to David Stann. Depending on the cost I'm not sure I'll be able to buy it. It looks like it will be an expensive model. I'm wondering about the scale.The killer for me is the postage and currency exchange as mentioned. I'd like to buy that if I can. It's no matter about the colours. Your right about the white. I believe also it's a very light grey almost white. You said you had to make some parts. If I do get this great model I know I'm going to be confused by the mechanical parts. But It's impressive representation of how the actual shark worked. Thanks again. Super work.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
