Beautiful work. The only observation is to be careful with the miter saw. The piece between the blade and the stop-block has to be secured, whereas the off-cut can float. If the former gets pinched, it can create kickback.

Nice job! I think I'd start with Boeshield Rust Free to reduce the iron oxide (just because I keep it in my shop), then onto sanding and paste waxing, just like you did. Rust Free would work well in your miter slots, but would still require a bronze wire wheel (softer than iron, harder than rust).

I have the Milwaukee ROS and decided to go with the 150 Festool sander for faster rough sanding. First thing I noticed is that the difference in vibration is minimal. After 15 to 20 minutes of sanding the switch failed and I had to finish the project with my Milwaukee sander. Festool is in for repair. Don’t think I will be buying many more expensive green and white tools.

Hello, yes I purchase my wood between the Woodsource in Manotick and KJP. I find the quality of selection at the Woodsource better than KJP. This is primarily due to KJP’s pallets of raw wood being picked through for the best pieces by customers. I do find that KJP has more exotic selection though and I love the fact that you can purchase tools as well.

I don't get the Festool is only worth it for "pros" argument, as a DIYer doing house renovations I wish I had invested in decent tools sooner. A TS 60 was my first upgrade into Festool, the time it saves in quicker, more accurate cuts and dust cleanup is worth it over the few hundred saved from the DeWalt saw I was using prior. I also have that same DeWalt sander, I dislike the vibrations and the dust collection is terrible (dust is a huge issue if you don't have a dedicated workshop and have to sand in your living space), the power button is mushy and often difficult to turn off once started. Wish I had just gone with a Festool from day one. Buy cheap, buy twice..

I have this sander and love it. You nailed it saving time. I'd spend $1000 or more on a sander if it saves me a good amount of time sanding. Price is only a con for this sander until you actually use it. Then you feel like you ripped festool off. I have two festool sanders (this one and an RTS 400), a tracksaw and one of their dust extractors. Working within the festool ecosystem has saved me a ton of time and frustration in the shop. Everything works together well. Great review, thanks! Subscribed.

The TS-55 track saw and a dust collector were my start down the Festool rabbit hole about thirteen years ago. You won’t regret the purchase (though your wallet might). It’s great for breaking down plywood sheets and beats trying to wrestle them to the table saw, and with careful measurement yields very accurate cuts.

You gotta find a hardwood distributor. They sell to dealers etc. they will let anyone set up account just tell them your a business. I set mine up so I just have a card on file with them instead of setting up credit with them: Instead of paying 8 bd ft for maple I pay 1.80. Not a typo cherry is the same. Even exotics are about 5 dollars cheaper. Walnut is about 15 though I find that cheaper creatively through private mills. Awesome board! Hope the information helps.
