Family Flow Trail on a Kidsrideshotgun Bike Seat

Took a quick family trip up Bentonville with our Kidsrideshotgun bike seat. Took our 3 year old daughter down the Family Flow trail at Coler Bike Preserve. It’s a really easy Green rated trail that is meant for fun for the whole family. We had a blast! That being said, I rode at a safe speed, wore protective gear, and have ridden the trail several times prior to know what to expect.
Can you not put the bumper cover back on or is it necessary to put it back?
I am not sure why you would want to leave it off but I suppose you could.

How do you keep the rear auto breaking system from tripping when you have something connected in the receiver? My bike rack constantly trips it and it is really annoying.
You can temporarily deactivate it in the Honda sensing settings. It drives me crazy!

Any idea on what’s the towing capacity for the HRV?
Honda doesn’t recommend towing with the HRV. I’ve read online that it can roughly tow 1,500 pounds. Just a matter of if you trust what Google says. lol the one in the video is not being used for towing.

The car is not being used for towing. I stated in the video that it will be used for a bike rack. Also the reason why there is not trailer wiring.
My question is why do you have to reprogram the ECM for the DTE? Is it just because there is additional fuel left in the tank compared to the stock tank? And what would the DTE be charged to? Now i have a 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn 4x4 with a procomp 6inch lift.
The DTE will be off because it is programmed for the smaller tank. The fuel gauge will reflect the right amount of fuel in the larger tank. To get the correct DTE, you will need to reprogram with Alpha
@calebjones032 I have a 2019 big horn with hemi, the part numbers you provided is absolutely everything needed correct? And they should work on my big horn?

You could but it will make installing the hitch more difficult.

None of them broke so I didn’t have to replace any of them.

The lower section, yes. Otherwise the hitch will not fit correctly into place.

I no longer have this truck but it was 450+ depending on if I was in the city or on the highway.

I did not install a wiring kit on this install.
Dude you are the man for making this vid. Its a shame Ram puts such small tanks on their Rebels. Also the BS you had to go through with wrong parts being shipped.

Honestly not sure. It would probably be a lot more trial and error. I would suggest a cheap cable routing tool off of Amazon.
I got a 2021 eTorque with the small 23 gallon tank. My evap canister went bad. Tank won't fill normally. I'm thinking of upgrading to the 33 gallon instead of putting money into the 23 gallon setup, once the weather warms up. Super stupid of them to offer different size tanks just simplify the supply chain and put a 33 gallon tank on every truck.
How much load can it carry ? Can it tow a small trailer ?
Honda does not recommend towing with the Civic. The load rating is only 150 pounds I believe.
What about the wiring harness, have you installed that and have a video ?
No I have not. A wiring harness was not needed for this install.

I can't tell from the video, but is this model number 11640 a 2" model or do you need to weld in an adapter to get to 2"?
This is not the 2”. You will need a 2” adapter
Does canister just pop in with clips or is it bolted? Mine seems to be plugged and was trying to see how complicated it would be to swap

Nice clean work, was worried you were going to scratch that new car up. Anyway, if you are worried about how far back the rack sits looks like you have about 3-4" there you could cut off the attachment and bring it closer. I'm looking to buy one of these hatchbacks but need to carry an EBike and want a hitch type carrier since I'm short and no way lifting a heavy Ebike up to the roof. Still may pass on it but this gives me hope just not going to do it myself(I'd scratch it all up). Your smiling daughter was a nice addition to video.

I`ve been checking the net. looks like I can get a adaptor to work between 11/4 to 2' receiver you like for 2' bike racks I already own. or what ever. cool

Did you tow any trailers with this hitch? I have this same car, i just bought this same hitch and im hoping to pull a seadoo spark with it. From what i can find online, this civic has a tow rating of 1100 lbs. But theres alot of conflicting information out there when researching what this car can tow.
Honda doesn’t recommend towing with the Civic which is why there is so much conflicting info. I used mine for the bike rack only. Sorry that I don’t have an answer for you.

The 2022 is the previous body style but I am sure the process will be very similar. And by caravan, I am assuming you are wanting to tow another vehicle with it? I would not recommend that with this class of hitch or vehicle.
I just finished this swap in my 2019. My truck suddenly had the fuel filling issue. One thing I noticed is that the small recirculation line with the blue locking clip. Just pull out the blue clip and just push the white button on the opposite side and it pulls right off. Don't pull out the white part, just the blue clip and squeeze.
Got a fuel fill issue on my 2021. Been dealing with it through the winter. Once it warms up here I'm going to do the same swap.
I’m assuming yours doesn’t have a kick sensor to automatically open the back door? I know sometimes these hitch installs can block the sensor
No, this one is a sport trim and does not have the kick sensor.
None of them (in the US) have that

I believe the process would be similar. If I recall, the hitch part number is the same for that year as well. I’d double check with etrailer or another hitch site to confirm.

Easy install except reinstalling the bumper cover. Those little tabs are a bugger to get snapped back into the main bumper cover. The newly installed hitch makes it difficult to apply pressure from underneath. Any suggestions on how to get that center clip reinstalled?
It’s pretty tough… No real tip just patience… lol
hey caleb i understand honda does not recommend towing but were you ever told by anyone what this suv could tow, i own a honda (HRV 2023 LX Awd) myself and simply want to tow a light travel trailer that will never exceed 750LBS, but im afraid to void anything and also worried if id harm my vehicle structurally

No, they do not recommend towing with the HRV. We only put the hitch on the car for accessories such as a bike rack.
i hitched a uhaul 6x12 trailer, with a 2k lb hitch and ball, and a medium load, and drove from FL to UT with no problem other than it totally killed any semblance of mpg. drove the same hrv back from UT to FL with a different uhaul 5x8 with a heavier load and had no issue there either. the 6x12 uhauls weigh ~1800, or 1900 lbs empty. with a load, that will exceed the 2k hitch class, so it's not advisable to do that like i did, but 750 lbs is nothing. what is more important than trailer weight is tongue weight, which is the downward force that is exerted on the ball of your hitch. this is the weight that would be relevant in a frame bending situation. sometimes it can be difficult to figure out what this max is for your vehicle, especially when your car isn't a truck and those numbers aren't advertised. one way is to look up your car's maximum cargo capacity and that is essentially it. just remember to subtract out the weight of passengers and anything else in the car that isn't going to be on the hitch. then you must calculate the tongue weight of your trailer, and this is fairly easy, but not always exact, so it is best to have some wiggle room in your plan. the tongue weight is typically 10-20% of the trailer's total weight depending on the wheel base. a trailer with four wheels spread in a front and back manner will have a much lower tongue weight than a two wheel trailer with the wheels all the way in the back, if that makes sense. which it should, just simple physics. that all being said, towing a 750lbs trailer should be no issue structurally.

@@user-mh5tm3xp9e ; well, i wouldn't recommend going to the 2k lb limit on an HRV. i have done it out of necessity, but if i had any other choice i wouldn't have. i just this week did another run from FL to MN with about a 1500 lb load. i just torqued the bolts down as tight as i could. 23 lbs does seem light, and i figure this isn't a situation where over torque is a problem. just remember the max cargo capacity and tongue weights are more important.
What if it has a banjo? Are you just cutting that off at the caliper and connecting old hose to wire to the new hose? Also would this work with Dot fluid?
Yes. Just cut the banjo off(make sure you have another banjo connector, the OE ones are not reusable) and tie the new one to it using the wire. It should work with all fluid types.

This fuel tank is meant for the DT body style truck.

They do not make a 2” hitch for the Civic.
What were those weird vent like things on the sides of the car under the bumper? Anyone know?
I believe those are to allow air to escape when you close the door. Otherwise the pressure could break the glass or a persons eardrum if they were sitting in the car.
