So sounds great setch! Thanks for the hi hat's brother!
@@ericpaulinjazz thank you Eric! And you are welcome!
I have a Catalina Club in Blue Satin Flame with the 20 inch bass drum. Everytime I play out, I get compliments from either the sound person, club owner, musicians or fellow drummers. It is a fantastic bargain and the tones are superior to much more expensive kits. I couldn't be more proud and happy to play Gretsch.
man, loved that lick between FT/BD that you do at 4:02! brilliant
Art is so hip!
Yes! Thanks for this.
@@user-wd4uf2sm5d You are welcome!
awesome !!!
@@SimonLopezPsymon Thank you!
Talk about comparability ! Great demo to show how great both these brands are……
Thank You!
What album is this off of?
It is Yotam Silbertstein's "Resonance" album from 2010
Still miss that kit
I miss it, too! Hope you are doing well!
@SetchOnDrums you too sounds great ,dig your videos .peace
Toms sound edible😋😋😋😋
Masterful drumming. Excellent player can make any drum set sound Beautiful.
Thank you!
I studied with Joe - he was a friend and mentor - thanks for honoring his memory with this fine rendition, Greg Burrows
@@rhythmfield Joe was an exceptional drummer, I am sure he was a great teacher as well. You are lucky to have had him as a friend and mentor.
tama kick sounds a lot better
this is super helpful. thank you
Glad it was helpful!
that was very nice and inspiring, thanks a lot
What's the cymbal on the left side? It sounds great too.
That’s a very light 22” Istanbul Agop Signature cymbal. You can hear it more in this video: ua-cam.com/video/UXTBpDBq60I/v-deo.htmlsi=rpCejfB2dUXvs7Ba
So hard to decide. The tama has more definition but the gretsch blends better.
Amazing
I just love this stuff.
Excellent playing, as usual, and a good choice of a solo!
Thanks a lot!
Gretsch, little warmer Round sounded ! Just ordered the Gretsch 140th Edition 🎉
Nice work, is that the istanbul agop 19" signature ride?
Thank you! It’s an Istanbul Pre Split 20” Thin Crash from the 90’s
Ok.. I’m going to do it now!! Haha you inspire me man. Great playing 🎉
Thank You!
Cymbals????
14” Istanbul Agop Mel Lewis Hihats 20” Istanbul Agop Special Edition Jazz Ride 22” Istanbul Agop 30th Anniversary ride
@@SetchOnDrums thank you so much 🙏
More high frequency definition along with the rest of the frequency bandwidth with the ludwigs
God I wish I could play swing like this.
Surely sounds like Stan Getz to me, could you identify the track? I love it. Great drumming, thanks!
Thank you! Yes, this is Stan Getz and The Oscar Peterson Trio playing “Three Little Words”
What's the song?
The song is called "Workout" from Hank Mobley's Album: "Workout" 1962
So awesome!! Got a new subscriber from Mexico, cheers! 🎉
Thank you!
Thanks for posting. First I love ride cymbals. Second I love Istanbul ride (and crash) cymbals. I have a few each of the other well known manufacturers and i like them, but I love Istanbuls. The mix of stick definition and wash is perfect for my ears. Of your super collection i think i like the Traditional ride cymbal, especially for your piece of music. Cheers. Bill.
I love them all. The 22-inch Traditional probably stands out the most to my ear (in a good way). The Pre-Split crash is a close second; it has just the right amount of dryness for this style of jazz. An excellent collection, my man!
Ludwig is fuller. They undersize their shells by 6mm and they’re easier to tune. And they’re cheaper. Ludwig all day over Gretsch.
I just love it!
I have this kit in copper sparkle. The only change I've made is to upgrade the hoops from 1.6 mm triple flange to 2.3 mm flange. Adding a 2" riser to the bass drum makes them sound much bigger. The quality is excellent. They are made in the DW factory in Taiwan to Gretsch's specs.
Excellent! Thanks for breaking this down. I will try to learn it.
Thank You!
Love this!
Nice man
Thanks!
Channeling Eric is heavy stuff.
A true student, well done!
Thank you!
What Istanbul series is that ride from? It’s gorgeous
It’s a 22” Mel Lewis ride
The first one seems to have the darker, less disturbing wash
Thanks for the video!!
You are welcome!
Bravo
The perfect interlude to my workday.
These are 2 fine sets of drums. Neither set sounds like one drum is out of place with the others, and both (from seeing this and the other tuning range videos) have equal versatility. Strictly on aesthetics, I like the centered lugs on the Gretsch a little more than I like the imperial lug on the Ludwig, but I actually prefer the smaller profile lug more than either one. Lugs wouldn't deter me from playing either one. I'd go Rail consolette over post through kick as well, but if the drums sound good, that's what truly counts.
Can't stand jazz
Tuff shit
big differences, great video brother!
Thank You!
Awesome! Keep up the good work, btw what sticks do you use?
Thank you very much! I mostly use Vater Manhattan 7A Nylon these days.
@@SetchOnDrums Thank you!
That was sweet!
Thank You!
22" 30th Anniversary was the one I liked the most
