I too, can relate to having limited skill and equipment and therefore congratulate these people on a job well done for what they had to work with. I also congratulate them on combining the skills and knowledge of several people in order to finish this project. We don all have to be expert before using what we have, just willing to put forth the effort.

I can relate to having limited tools, supplies, and knowledge yet wanting to make wrecked furniture usable again. Supporting your interest to learn through comments: After brushing off debris, wipe down with water containing a small amount of a cleaning agent such as dish soap. If clamps are not available to hold cracks together while the wood glue dries, wrap with a wide rubber band or rope. A heavy object may also work to hold the parts together. Sawdust and CA glue are fine for filling small voids such a knot holes but lack the strength needed for splits that won't come together. Use epoxy glue for these situations. And, be mindful of the difference between "repair" and "restoration". When using the word restoration in a video title people expect the piece to be returned to its original state as closely as possible. There is nothing wrong with repairing a piece to make it usable once again. Good luck to you.

It was Ready for the Burn Pile but You Rehabilitated it and made it Usable. Adding some wood to stabilize the back was a Great idea. I think Some of Your Viewers are being a little too critical about the Quality of Your work. But You do what You can with what You've got. Where are You from?

I do chair caning and have saved more than a few antique chairs. It really is very simple, just requiring patience (and well I soaked chair caning). I don't think I will watch the rest of this post!

he didnt even wash the dirt off.....not a good job either it didnt originally have a wooden seat......and you could see grit in the varnish

Sad to see this chair not restored with rattan weaving and give it the respect of originally. This video is a strong disappointment. I will not subscribe to 4th level craftsmanship.

Sadly this is not a restoration, as the author states in the title. Slapping Super glue and sawdust is a bodge, as for nails, dowels should be used. However if screws are used at least sink the head down and dowel the hole to hide the screw head. Saying that they can only use what they have, is a poor excuse, there was plenty of wood in the background and the worker totally ignored the fact that the back and seat were originally woven and not cheaply covered from wood, thin foam and what looked like curtain material.
