Tale of Two Halloween Crypts
A comparison of the similarities and differences of my 2023 and 2024 Halloween ground crypts. The main difference was how the lid of each crypt was powered to open and close.

Halloween '24: The Other Side of the Yard
Переглядів 205Місяць тому
The ancient portal with lightning and demon was the highlight of this year's Halloween display, but the other side yard had an assortment of props especially for visitors in a hurry to get the next house and more candy.
Ancient Portal with Lightning & Demon
Переглядів 2592 місяці тому
A Halloween display that begins with a series of spooky video clips spliced from Atmosfx company videos, followed by thunder and lightning effects, ending with an appearance by a Spirit Halloween animatronic (Hell Spawn). The entire sequence orchestrated with Light-o-Rama hardware and software lasted about eight minutes and was run continuously on a loop for the two-hour trick-or-treat. The lig...
Froggy's Fog Bubble Juice Tryout

Party Tombstone 2 0
Переглядів 2004 місяці тому
Sometimes you try to entertain others...sometimes yourself. I haven't given up on the party tombstone mostly because it's nonsensical and makes me smile. But I've made a few changes from last year to make it more engaging for everyone.
This Skeleton Is Bad to the Bone
Переглядів 2794 місяці тому
It was love at first sight when I saw a skeleton playing a guitar and singing on another UA-cam channel. The maker of that skeleton wasn't interested in selling his creation, but he did provide guidance for me to make one of my own. I'll tell you before you ask where I bought the board that allowed an external audio source to move the skeleton's mouth: audioservocontroller.com. And this is the ...
Demon Footprints

I was really happy with a Halloween display effect last year featuring ghostly footprints walking across the yard from a crypt. However, not many people noticed it. This year I'm creating a jump scare based on the same but supersized effect.
Halloween: Carving Stone Walls from Styrofoam
Переглядів 6306 місяців тому
I need to hide a large Halloween prop in an open yard and decided to place it behind stone walls carved from blocks of styrofoam. The blocks were free from Tractor Supply, having been used as cushioning for trailers during delivery to the store. Some stores will gladly give away the blocks; others keep them for return to the company. I used three inexpensive hot wire kits from Amazon to do most...

Tree-Size Halloween Lightning Bolt
Переглядів 8267 місяців тому
Trial run of a 30-foot lightning bolt made by joining three 10-ft. sections of three-inch PVC pipe. Looks pretty good. "Full Scale" in this case means it's the final size I'm going to use on Halloween. The PVC will be painted black before Halloween.
Werewolf Moon(s)
Переглядів 3929 місяців тому
My first Halloween photo op will feature a werewolf with cornstalks and a large full moon in the background. I tried a couple ways to make the moon, first planning one with internal lighting but finally deciding to project a moon image onto a large, sturdy circular screen.
Mausoleum for the Performing Arts
Переглядів 40911 місяців тому
Nothing special here...just one of manyHalloween mausoleums found on UA-cam.. This one was made with 1x3 boards and sheets of rigid foam insulation. During the recent trick-or-treat, the mausoleum housed an amusing punk rocker skeleton bought from Costco. Not sure what its future use will be.
Lightning Bolt Prop--Proof of Concept

I want to add some storm effects to my Halloween display, including a lightning bolt. I'm trying out one way to make the prop combining two examples found on UA-cam. Those two examples: ua-cam.com/video/gFftzla2APg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/4XrgGPtlUzk/v-deo.html
Pepper's Ghost in a Hearse
Переглядів 4,1 тис.Рік тому
The Pepper's ghost illusion is one of world's earliest illusions, based on the reflection of an image from a transparent surface such as glass, plexiglass or even heat-shrinkable window film. My goal was to use the technique to create the image of a ghost inside a prop Halloween hearse. I had intended to use inexpensive window film as the reflective surface but chickened out and replaced it wit...

Absolutely killer prop! Great job!
Thanks. Always a pleasure to hear from a fellow Halloween Forum member.
Dude, I did not know you could actually win halloween 😂
Absolutely amazing! I live near an old trolley line and was planning to do something similar next Halloween. Your attention to detail is superb!
I bought a "Wolo (847) Siberian Express Air Horn - 12 Volt Electric Solenoid Operated" from Amazon. The sound of the horn was great, but my small air compressor didn't have enough air storage for a sustained blast.
How well would this work with C6 LED lights? Lights too big?
I've made a couple trees with c6 lights to help with brightness when trees are farther from the viewers. No problems.
Time to send my enemies to the phantom zone.
This is so fantastic! 🎃 Well done!
Thanks. I appreciate your ideas.❤
It's actually much older than the Superman movie...the Ripley's museums had them MUCH before then.
Mindblowing as always! Not sure my wife is going to want to see this, cuz now it means more work for me next Halloween! 😂
Would be hard for you to top your innovative display this year.
Love the photo op with the moon behind it...
You outdid yourself again!! Very unique elements (the glowing crypt, the walking feet) and of course in awe of the lightning!! Bravo
Thanks, MM. I especially appreciate a compliment from a fellow haunter.
Your ingenuity and creativity are incredible! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for showing us how you made them. I built a coffin based on your older design and it worked great. I did run into a similar problem on another wiper motor project where the angle of the prop made the weight too much for the wiper motor. Where did you get the actuator from? I need to find some way to create the same motion with more power.
I bought a 12" actuator for $42 on Amazon. It is slow and loud--took about 15 seconds to fully open the crypt lid. But, it had the power to do the job. You can pay more for faster models. I tried to use an elastic band to give a wiper motor a power assist on the upslope. The assisted pull was enough to tug the lid upward, but I just couldn't get the resistant motion consistent using the Picovolt.
Great idea. It w ould have been nice to see them lit up at night.

Love it! Great setup!
Awesome job
I am extremely happy to present to you, your masters degree in Halloween design, and display. I look forward to every single video that you post, wanting to see where your mind and skill will take us all next.. happy Halloween 🎃
So many cool props! You're going in my inspiration collection of videos.
My favorite prop in this video was the broken monument with the infinity ladder. Great concept!
Thanks. Children especially like the infinity illusion.
That came out great. Thanks for laying out how you made it. That seems like a great alternative to hollusion material because its still clear during the day unlike the hollusion material that really only looks great at night.
This is incredible! If you don’t mind sharing which Light-o-Rama package did you use for this? They have many many options. Thanks!
This page from LOR has most of the parts. Unfortunately you have to assemble the AC-to-DC controller yourself. You'll need an enclosure, power supply, mounting plate and CMB board. On top of that, you'll need LOR show software. All told, you'll be out a couple hundred dollars. You could use one of the preassembled controllers--say, one with 16 plugs--but because those connectors are AC, you'd have to attached a 12-volt AC-to-DC adapter to each plug (they're not expensive but are bulky). store.lightorama.com/collections/controller-kits-assembly-required
Your creations never disappoint and I can't wait to see your next project. Awesome work as always 😁
So well done. happy Halloween. 🎃
Sweet.
I can see this being a great diy project for a train enthusiasts.
I think many of the comments regarding the ghost train project were from train enthusiasts, including kids. The train is returning in 2025.
@ghostofautumnwood6379 i just watched your completed ghost train setup. Very awesome. Would love to have seen that in person.
Nice job. The motion of the lid is cool.
Moving on the roller bearings gave it a great sound, too. This year, with a different crypt and heavier lid, I had to use a linear actuator to move the top. Neither the movement nor sound were as satisfying as with this version.
Awesome!
I Just LOVE IT ! The best yet ! Family Friendly !! HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃
I realize this video is 11 months old and hope you still monitor your channel, how did you make or purchase the Hearst wheels?
The wheels are decorative and don't support any weight. The hearse rests on iron pipes bolted to the frame. I don't remember exactly where I bought them, but you can search "decorative wagon wheels" to find something similar. Earlier this year I saw some good looking wagon wheels at Tractor Supply but don't know if they're still in stock.
thanks, I had planned to support with pipes also, I build a nice infinity mirror a few years ago and have wanted to put in a Hearst. The wheels are what is holding me back.

How did you make your exterior gold frame?
I bought picture frame moulding from HD and spray painted it gold. www.homedepot.com/p/Ekena-Millwork-20-in-W-x-24-in-H-x-1-2-in-P-Ashford-Molded-Scalloped-Wainscot-Wall-Panel-PNL20X24AS-02/205957859
This is awesome. Nice ingenuity to get it all done, too. Do you keep your speaker by the bolt or somewhere else?
I haven't decided yet. Will probably experiment with placing speakers near viewers and by the bolts.Time running out.
@@ghostofautumnwood6379 yes it is. Doing a spider and still haven’t textured it. Time is awasting!
What 😆😝
Wow. Amazing. Love it. I was wondering if you would share or possibly sell the sequence you made. I’ve bought everything for this but I’m afraid I might run out of time.
Hola qtl
Dam good job loved it.
I have an idea for your "sitting up in a coffin" stunt. What if you have a realistic-looking corpse mannequin lying in a coffin, and then have the reflection of the corpse superimposed over it. Then when you have the ghost sit up, it will look like it's literally leaving the corpses' body.
That's a great idea...unfortunately it wouldn't work in my setup because the space is too narrow. The casket would have to sit over the space that houses the television. However, if you had a casket in a room setting--like a funeral parlor--you could place the television and reflector behind it.
@@ghostofautumnwood6379 What if you had the television embedded in the ceiling out of sight, so its light is projected downward towards the plastic, instead of upward? You might have to invert the image so it is correctly oriented towards the mannequin. I know that's a lot of work with a heavy television, but I wonder if it would work
@@maskedmarvyl4774 Maybe. A possible problem is that while some of the image is bounced off the reflector, some of it also passes through the reflector and onto what's behind it...in this case, the coffin. One might be better off covering one the hearse openings with Hollusion material and projecting the ghost onto that. However, that means the hearse should be viewed from just one side.
This is gold. Thank you.
awesume job!
ITS YOUR TIME
Just found your channel. Do you have any plans of adding voice over to your videos?
I don't.
What force were the servos? 25kg?
I used a HobbyBots 935MG for the arm and a HS-425BB for the head. You'll have to look up their specs. Truthfully, I know little about servos and made my purchases based on advice.
Great work, what software are you using?
