Painting MYSTERY minis with Eldritch Foundry!
Love the scenario and build. Really cool and approachable 😊😊😊
Wonderful stuff!
Thanks so much!
Nice work
Really creative use of the available materials!
I also really enjoy those platforms! I'm also now imagining how the rest of the glasses can be used... maybe for a waterfall's sheets of cascading water? Crystal or ice walls? I love when I see something so creative that it gets me thinking more creatively too!
Thanks! The rest of the glasses definitely went back into the stash so I can try to find another use for them. Those are some great ideas though.
I liked the mist flowing from the glass platforms. Exquisite work as usual.
That was my favourite part of how it turned out too.
Awesome really like the use of the champagne glass and I get my glue and paint from the dollar store nicely done ✌️
The painting looks great 😊 Love how you kept it approachable 😊😊😊
Love the offwhite effect in contrast to the stone color !
Looks great! Love the red on the roof and the door. I’m glad you gave the goblin the attention he deserves.
Great technique painting is my weakness good job 👍🏼
I love the idea of clipping a huge plastic plant! That turned out really cool!
Love having these on our table. But it’s a lot easier to cut the mats if you flip them upside down like The Gamesmith did in his video from 2020.
that reference of heroes might and magic ahaha so many memories ! I have the Spyder and the red dragon from Epic Encounters ... they are stunning ! love the color scheme you piicked for it ! keep it up !
how do you strip the primer from the wizkids minis ? I painted the gold dragon not long time ago, it is majestic !
Thank you! I soak the minis in isopropyl alcohol and scrub them with a brush to get the primer off. I wouldn't use that method on any mini with the softer, translucent plastic though.
@@dungeonsanddrybrushing thank you so much for the reply ! have a great day and keep it up !
The dollar store is a treasure trove for sure! Nice!
Board looks great, but how much of the actual adventure is going to be played on this board, really not much of course it is reusable, good job...
Totally fair! In my home games I probably wouldn't build anything for it at all, and just use Theater of the Mind. But that wouldn't fit the challenge so I just went for it!
That is really cool!
Please do more these videos!! The five room dungeon concept and the dollar store dungeon ones, this was entertaining and informative.
Thanks for the feedback! I've got a few more on the way, and will definitely be taking that into account.
Beautiful walls! I'm new to TTRPG's, DMing, and crafting. Yep, diving into everything all at once! One thing I'm a little concerned about is do you experience issues with the walls falling over and, if so, what's the easiest/cheapest way to solve that problem? Oh, and at the end of the video, you asked about our favorite monster... looking through the Monster Manual I would say the Ettin is something I want to use in the future. Sounds really cool and I've not heard much talk about it. Seems very underrated.
Hey, welcome to the hobby! I actually haven't had any issues with the walls falling over. But if you're worried about that then the simplest solution is to actually just take some screws and sink them into the bottom of the wall sections. They'll be invisible and they'll add enough weight that they shouldn't fall under normal conditions. And I'll add the Ettin to my list - thanks for chiming in!
I'm pretty new to the hobby, and seeing videos like this just gives me the urge to make something, lol. Glad you didn't have to title it as a failure, lol. Great video!
i love it, simple basic and cheap. With just a little effort and patience anyone can do this! Looking forward to the next rooms. You've inspired me to make my own new 5 room dungeon
Aweseome! Good luck!
Great craft. Mission accomplished using only dollar store supplies. FYI..sometime dollar stores may have sisal cordage which can be cut to make flocking and even some longer cuts can be used to make tall grass.
Good challenge, nice build. I like all the crazy things I can build from Dollar Store materials. Good video.
I love this, but one thing I wanted to mention was you said the dollar store doesn't have flock - well, it does, sort of. You just have to be willing to cut it up yourself. So basically you want to buy a green scotch-brite scouring pad. You want to cut, sand, grind, whatever it takes to use that. You can stretch pieces for bushes, grind up small amounts for small foliage.
Very cool idea!
You forgot a snack, every dollar store should have boxes of snacks that you can use the card of. Plus snacks are awesome before, during, and after building a creepy crypt.
How could I? Amateur mistake, you're right.
Wow, Dude! What a cool video. Thanks! PS. And you look WAY better without that silly beanie hat.
Nice thinking with the cardstock. I like to save up my cardstock/old paper/cardboard scraps (basically whatever is paper based) and cut them up into a bucket. Mix that up with water and let it soak overnight, then blend it. Boom, recycled paper pulp (kinda like sculptamold). Add some PVA and it's solid as a rock when it cures. Very good for dirt and rock texture.
Great idea! I did something like this recently for a project making rocks (using cardboard though, not card stock) and it worked great.
Another option most dollar tree's have that would work well for "flock" is to look at the fine craft sand that most of them sell, or you could go to the food part of it and grab green tea bags and just open those and seal them with some more white glue (or mix the two options together). Also, one thing that works for an extremely quick and easy option for headstones is to grap the larger craft sticks and cut the ends off. A long while ago, I made a pile of cemetary rows using them along with intact ones along with a few metal washers to add weight and thinned down some of the dollar tree's pre-mixed patching plaster mix that then got some sand on it...I did use some flock on them, but I made a couple of those...along with a LARGE pile of ones with two forms of simple crosses (first ones used the thin craft sticks with a dab of hot glue to lock them together before using some thread to wrap the join before gluing them down, then I switched to bamboo skewers because they were easier to work with). And, as a side note, some Dollar Tree locations stock a halloween village decor set that includes some mini gravestone options for anyone looking now...
Awesome notes, and very cool ideas!
Good call on green tea! Herbs like oregano make good flock as well.
@@manjr The main reason for the tea is that Dollar Tree tends to carry it... Hell, you can still get boxes of cheap green tea at a lot of grocery stores for around the same price...you don't want to go for the more expensive stuff there. I tend to only use it on more forest floor type things since it looks a lot more like the old leaf littler mixed with everything else than most grass, but it still works decently there
@@AzraelThanatos Tea in general is pretty useful. The fine stuff in teabags is good for dirt, and the longer pieces in loose tea are good forest cover. I dry mine all out and save it - can't get any cheaper than that!
Well done! Sometimes trusting the process is difficult. But i remember that my players don't care if something is out of scale, or not just right. They would rather get to hang out than have less game and better scenery.
Fantastic!
The dollar store sells dried herbs which make great leaf litter flock
Lol I did this and my project smelled like basil for a week
True! Good call!
Looks great! I'd be happy to play on that. The different greens were definitely a good choice for the ground. And my local dollar tree better hide their plastic ferns. Dollar hollar!
What a cool concept! I think there's a card game out there that uses a similar concept of five room dungeons but the name escapes me right now.
I love everything about this build easy to follow and even easier on the pockets, I hope you don’t mind but I’m gonna use some of your ideas✌️☠️
@@dungeonscronics3191 Go for it! Let me know how it turns out!
Awesome project! Looking forward to part two. The oil paint washes as grass are an interesting effect, and not a bad option in the absence of flock (or hand painting all the grass as is my preference, but one I’m sure not many share)
Tista Minis is a really cool store! They have so much variety and quantity of products for a small-ish store. Have you been instore?
I've never been! Just a little too far to be convenient for me, but I'm hoping to make it out there still.
@@dungeonsanddrybrushing It is 45-60 minutes depending on traffic so reasonably close but just that far away for my laziness...which keeps my wallet safe.
That is an awesome kit! Great unboxing video too.
I'm a huge fan and collector of Warhammer / Kill Team / Necromunda terrain. I pick up most kit, usually off ebay from people spitting big boxes. However this was the first fantasy kit I've picked up. I bought two of these kits and plan on making them 40k terrain with some magnetized greebles. Very cool kits.
Would be interesting to see them converted for 40k! Not sure I've ever seen that before.
I like the look of all of this apart from the tower. the house looks great and so do all the walls and other bits. The tower, though, looks like a child's toy idea of a fortified tower. Have to decide if the kit is worth it if I'm not going to use the tower. Looking forward to seeing it painted, though.
@@PatrickSamphire I do believe you can actually buy the house on its own! I think GW calls it a chapel in the separate kit, but it's the same piece. Not sure what extra bits it has though.
@@dungeonsanddrybrushing Oh, that's great to know! Thanks.
What's the difference between super glue and plastic cement? I always figured super glue would be fine for putting a set together and it's what I used when I dabbled in mech figures.
Super glue is totally fine to use! I'm actually going to talk about this a little in an upcoming video, but the short version? Super glue works like most other glues, and bonds two pieces together. It's totally fine to use and its what I use on some types of minis. Plastic cement or plastic glue only works on polystyrene plastics, and it's not actually a glue - it's a solvent. It melts the two pieces together so that they fuse and actually just become one thing. It's permanent. Once you use it, there's no undoing it, so you need to be sure!
Looking forward to seeing how you paint this set up 😊😊😊
This kit looks amazing. How are the instructions, are they easy to follow?
@@dungeonscronics3191 Very simple build and easy to follow.
Awesome I love these videos! They make me motivated to tackle my pile too.
This is very timely for me - I was just sorting through my bin of minis this week, deciding which are in a paintable state and which have flashing that needs to be scraped off (and their primer stripped as a result). One of the minis in the To Paint Pile is... a gelatinous cube. :)
How'd you make the cube? It looks kinda like hot glue drizzled over a plastic cube? That's really clever! (Also haha, it ate your mini.) I understand the need to go through a backlog! I'm kinda doing it now with my yarn. Sorta. Working through it aaaaand picking up a nice skein here and there. *cough* I'm human.
Thank you. Seriously, thank you. I feel such guilt about the unfinished and half started pile I have. We all need to feel less guilt and do those little wins 😊😊😊
We all have those extra projects sitting around, I think. And trying to inspire others to get back to their missed crafts is a great way of helping me get back to mine too! So glad you liked it.
@@dungeonsanddrybrushing definitely 😊😊😊
What a wholesome start to my Wednesday. Perhaps I’ll even pick up a paintbrush after work and finish one of my own projects
The gelatinous cube looks awesome The corrugated paper for the roof looks great. That corrugated paper will also make great columns I think.✌️
Just saw the doll house at a local Goodwill and remembered your craft. Great work and inspiration.
