Watching a day late as the holiday weekend was busy. For me the PK has three issues. 1) losing the faceoffs repeatedly 2) easy zone entries - passive 3) not aggressive enough once in zone - if a team makes three bang - bang - bang passes so be it. We do have solid goaltending so play with more confidence. PP - too predictable - dropping puck to 97 or 90 for zone entries and as mentioned, shoot when the lane opens up. Wild will add a player come match. Picking up Jiricek also makes cents - $918,000 next two years. If things do work out as planned, we’ll be drafting 22 or later, so it’s unlikely we’ll get a player of Jiricek’s ability that late. If skating is the concern, Andy Ness will work on edge work like he did with Rossi. Jets 1-4 last five, playing goalie too much - Wild tied with game in hand 💯.

It may be an overpayment if you don't actually consider what they bought and what they actually paid. Let's say the Wild make the playoffs, the 1st round pick will be #17 at the best. It's more likely it will be in the 20's. Now consider the 3rd and 4th rounders aren't even the Wild's picks, they were acquired from they Dewey trades last season. Lastly the 2027 2nd is 3 full drafts from now and is probably 15 years old and if he does ever make the Nhl it will be in 2030 or later. All of the potential picks have an equal chance of not working out just like D. Jirichek or D. Hunt does. The point is, I'd rather give up those assets for a guy the Wild like and have scouted. They believe a former 6th overall pick, even if he was picked to high is worth getting even if he doesn't reach the projections of a top 10 pick. One final point, the Wild's current roster as of today has 15 out 23 players that were picked in the 1st or 2nd rounds. The price they paid giving up Hunt a 2026 3rd and 4th and 2027 2nd is not nearly that risky when you consider the likely success of those assets actually working out! P. S. This year draft is also considered relatively weak compared to the last 3 drafts where the Wild seem to have drafted some potentially good talent.

I really hope they don’t kick Chisholm to the curb. He is so nasty with the puck and I think he holds value offensively

Jiricek is 21 years old. Sounds like Jiricek is a project due to poor skating or poor transitions. It's an overpayment for sure, but Guerin did accumulate some extra picks along the way to supplement it. *KNOW THIS: a top 10 pick DOESNT necessarily mean elite talent. It many times means a GM made a TERRIBLE selection. Time will tell, but for me it's more proof Guerin has no interest in extending Rossi long term.

My concern is the wrist/hand injury from last season when Evander Kane launched him into the dasher, is it a nerve issue? He has not seemed really strong in his stick handling, passing and shooting.

IMO it looks kind of like Jirecek was treated the same way Dean handled Greenway! Am I wrong? Dean seems vindictive if anything. Gotta let the guy get some exposure to develop.

Chisholm is not on Callen Addison’s level of over stick handling and no defense but. . . He sure goes east and west a lot.

Yeah Wild need to see where he is at. Columbus had him in the press box too much. Whether AHL or NHL he needs to be playing and getting experience

Not excited to see them give up this much draft capital for a prospect who didn't meet expectations and might not turn out to be any better than the player we gave up. But, we'll see.

I don’t have a feel for how the Wild are going to integrate Jiricek unless injuries thrust him into the lineup. I believe they will treat him like the major investment he is. He’s going to get fast tracked in development and training. We need another big bodied defenseman heading into the playoffs.

Can we please trade Marco Rossi so we don’t have to pay him anything absurd…

I’m all for this! I think like Russo or somebody said this is like drafting a guy that we didn’t get to draft. Jay was right though, there is some risk but even if the worst is he’s a number 5 defensemen, you still got a guy that can rocket shots from the point that’s 6’4”. He’s only 21. This guy is a driver as well which is rare.

Good win against a bottom feeder you have to beat. Nashville had high hopes after some key off-season acquisitions, but to date, it just hasn't worked out. I dont follow them close enough to know if injuries have played a significant role, but my guess would be, at 7-19, a lot of the blame falls on Darby 😂 I predict Brunette gets the boot soon.

I’m not sure Zeev Buium will be playing a NhL game this year anymore. At the start of the season I was. But the Wild’s path has changed quite significantly since then.

Look at MN Wild blue line structure this year vs last year. So much stronger. Also look at Rossi’s improved skating. We have the D and skills coaching in place to help DJ hone his game. Huge trade for the Wild.

The guy is nothing more the a tall prospect. He’s still not NHL ready. Let’s not over exaggerate this guy!

The issue is the wild now will have a log jam at D in a year or two with Faber, Middleton, Brodin, and Spurgeon not going anywhere, Chisholm being one of the most underrated Defensemen in the NHL and then that only leaves 1 spot for another player to get minutes which in this case is taken by Bogosian who has 2 more years on his contract after this year. The wild have buium coming up, lambos, peart, jiricek, Kiviharju, O'rouke, Masters, and Soini all coming up within the next 4 years in which the only member from the current core I can see leaving is spurgeon who is now 35 but is playing great and just put up 3 goals in the last 2 games with his contract having 2 more years after this year as well. The wild have to many D prospects and have to trade some for a depth C/RW, or go get a franchise center (but those are a hard come by). To much talent is always better than too little still.

Kinda like an Aaron Ekblad, when he was young.. Ekblad, was an offensive defenseman that was big. Then, he had that injury. Worked on his defense more and became a defensive defenseman. Plus he’s a RH Defenseman. Teams can never have enough of those, ask the Toronto Maple Leafs.
