Louisiana: the State We're In. Phelps Correctional Center Closure
Переглядів 37 тис.11 років тому
A small "documentary" on how much of a bombshell was dropped on employees, families, and communities as the decision was made to close PCC. The C. Paul Phelps Correctional Center is one of few Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections facilities that offer education and re-entry programs for offenders, make clothing, do farming, offer special programs for employees, and offenders. I can tell you from personal experience that this had to be the safest prison/correctional facility in Louisiana. I never saw or heard of one violation or stabbing..no weapons found..ever. Only some fights which the guards would swarm in from everywhere to stop. After hearing all the prison horror stories, I was blessed to do my time here from 2002-2003. It's sad to see Phelps was shut down and inmates sent to Angola. 💔

I remember as kid, passing by the Dequincy Reform school, and and later evolved into a minimum security prison.

The main reason these people want these prisons open is because it provide jobs to people who otherwise wouldn’t have them. And that’s the reason prison are in all of these hock towns that has no other major business’s there. Where else would people work, in these small country towns? They provide jobs to the locals. And that’s all people honestly care about.... that’s the real reason America had the most prisons in the world. Jobs!!!! Money!!!!!!! Corruption!!!!!! Go get a real job.

The inmates with be transferred to hard core max prison and the 150 employees can get the same job by relocation. This does not break my heart in the least.

Even if the prison was preparing to close down, don't the system help those wardens who are going to be fired, unknowingly, to be replaced them with jobs option???

This the way of tbe world. Some private company will come in and open it back up. The prison enterprise will probably get some private company to get together and make it out of the prison they want to make. The way of the world

What is your aim here, what message of importance are y'all trying to convey through your music? What emotional connection are you trying to form with people who listen to you? Okay, y'all have like 240 views and only 4 people actually clicked like. And there are only like 56 subscribers to your channel. Either y'all are in serious need of better promoters and managers of your band and music, or you need to step your game up a couple of notches and think about throwing some experimenting with different styles until you develope a unique sound all your own. If you're just in a band for the hell of it and don't plan on anything big, then it's pretty much time, effort, and money that is being wasted on a garage band that sounds pretty much just like every other wannabe metal band out there. Your music doesn't have any build-up to the heavier parts, the music starts out heavy and pretty much is the same rhythm and beat for the entirety of your songs, almost as if it is on a loop. The singing and screaming starts and stops so abruptly it does not mesh and throws the whole song off. At one point the singer is singing and then "BAM" it turns into pure screaming then abruptly goes back to singing, there's no build-up to bridge the two together. And the theme starts out about whether or not the human race will continue on its path or change, but the lyrics, what I could understand of them, sounded more like a "love fine bad" kind of theme. In short, the themes were way off from each other and made little sense as if it's been written in haste without much serious thought put into it. I heard you guys tried to get a deal with Roadrunner Records once, but for whatever reason, you didn't get it. Those big record labels hear so much of this kind of garage style music it isn't even funny, plus your genre isn't really in popular demand anyways, people wanna hear music that they can understand and won't immediately get a severe migraine from, so no surprise that you didn't get the deal. But if that's how y'all roll then by all means, keep doing what you're doing, but honestly, don't expect much to ever come of it unless y'all do some major twerking all the way around.

Rayford Rowe you're literally commenting on preview videos from YEARS ago. this band has evolved quite a bit since then. Yes we tried with Roadrunner years ago. But the part of the label that we submitted to was part of their downsizing and they shut it down before they even listened to us. You have some hilarious assumptions that are based off little clips you're hearing on UA-cam. If you want the real experience, attend a show or purchase an album.

Ashes of Eden , okay, how far have y'all come since then? I know there was an issue with keeping lead singers and not being able to practice much?

Ashes of Eden, I went to school with the drummer, I also know the previous lead singer Donovan Fall because he married Erika West, another person I went to school with. So I've heard a lot about what went on with the band.

Rayford Rowe Quite a bit. We've rotated some members and finally found the vocalist who is the true voice of the band. We have been able to practice more often. We've toured. We've shared the stage with several big ticket bands such as Crowbar, Dope, Motograter, Flaw, Avatar, etc
