Welcome to Fab SMTH Up Off-Road aka FSU Off-Road. Originally established in 2012 as a small group of off-road enthusiasts who enjoyed pushing the limits of their Jeeps, over the years our hobby evolved into a love for custom fabrication and Ultra 4 Racing. We've created this channel to share our journeys with you as we build custom rigs, hit the trails head on, and take to the tracks of Ultra 4 Racing. If nothing else, we hope to inspire to just do it, whatever your passionate about. We hope you enjoy.
The Vinyl Wrap is AWESOME!
Huge shout out to Routh Signs (@RouthSigns) in Greensboro!
With a tight timeline, they knocked the design out of the park. A special thank you for making this happen and making us stand out. If you need any kind of signage in the Piedmont Triad Area (NC), give them a call.
Tell me what you think!

YOu look like Steve-O
How have these trailing arms functioned since you built them? Any noticeable limit to flex? I’ve heard mixed things about only using the anti wobble and not dropping the shock down into the line of the joints, do you get a lot of slop side to side?
Any updates coming?
I notice in your colossus d300 the rear output shaft is exactly in the same straight line as the input of the transmission, while the behemoth usually presents it as being in the same straight line as the front output shaft. Can this be changed?
The DIY case can be built with either a driver drop or passenger drop depending on your needs. I believe you can also adapt different internals to make it a divorced case as well.
How did you tie in the reservoir to the pump? You might have said lol
can be use on my 2000 TJ WRANGLER???? please reply to me soon
Yes, you can build it as a passenger drop or driver drop. Depending on trans output, you might have to change the input as well as the adapter. All can be sourced from JB Conversions. Highly recommend.
What thickness of aluminum are you using for the dash?
Sorry for the delay… I used 16 ga. Or 1/16 sheet.
did you make it out to crandon?
Unfortunately the trans wasn’t ready in time. We’re now planning for Nationals!
Would you be willing to chat on a private email? I have a jeep that could probably be set up to run stock class and I’m thinking I’d like to.
Would love to help where I can.
That was AWESOME! Well worth the wait!!! Nice build - GREAT JOB!
I have not watched you in a while so I'm playing catch up. Very sorry this happened to you. I appreciate you telling your story as you will prevent someone else from making the same mistake. You are doing great - stay the course!
Think you’ll make nationals in Oklahoma? If so I can pit for you.
Goal is Crandon Labor Day weekend! Fingers crossed 🤞🏼
Yes
Hell ya man thanks
hey bro, would you be able email me the plans?
Consegue-me arranjar o esquema?
I have a kawasaki teryx and we are doing exactly the same as you., thanks for your video man !!!!
How do you extend the steering wheel out that far?? Awesome video thanks for sharing
I used 3/4" round stock with a clamping lock collar to lock it where I needed it.
No music next time 😊
Hey man been waiting on the next episode! The ultra 4 race at Crossbar in Davis Oklahoma at the end of the year if your coming let me know I’ll pit for you or help anyway I can. Hope your well
I know, I know... I've been pulled away from editing. I'll do an update soon on everything. I appreciate it! I'll keep you posted, not sure our race schedule now that the car needs a lot of work from KOH.
@@FSUOffRoad no problem man! just letting you know should you go to davis oklahoma in October let me know i can help you!
Pretty impressive
Great video! What are you going to use to paint your rear axle if anything?
I just spray bombed the axles with paint/primer black.
What paint and primer did you use?
@@FSUOffRoad what paint/primer did you use?
@@jbt7115 was a satin black Rustoleum
Hows this paint holding up? They recommend using a primer, i was wondering how it does without primer like yours.
I would recommend the primer; however, the paint works really well on the bare metal. Only reason I would recommend a thin layer is material prep.
I’m signing up for 2025 rookie program and your video is the only one really explaining what it’s like for a newcomer.
I highly recommend the rookie program. There is so much to take in on the lakebed and for a newcomer into the sport, it can be super overwhelming. Luckily the program helps in so many different ways, not just for the race. It's super beneficial. Best of luck with the journey!
What doesn't kill us..creeps up.. makes it harder to get out of bed in the morning..and makes others think we are lesser..and sissies in the end..f...mmmmm
Bruh. Safety equipment did its job.
Glad to see you’re ok. Too bad for your rig. Really enjoyed the build videos.
For ultra 4 rules, one thing I’m having a hard time finding a answer on. Is the factory main hoop ( B pillar ) on the TJ legal? It technically meets the material diameter and thickness spec and would be a decent starting point to build off. I ask because I am currently building a 4600 class TJ, all that’s left for me to do is the cage and the rest of the safety equipment.
The issue with the stock tubing is that it doesn't meet the structural material requirements in 2.6.4 of the rule book. To save you some heartache, I'd just mimic the hoop with a DOM that way you don't have to worry about it.
@@FSUOffRoad thank you! I couldn’t find a for sure answer on that. The measurements on the stock tube are 2.5 x .120 wall but i didn’t know if the material was up to standard so I didn’t want to go ahead and build off it then come from Canada to not pass tech 😅 we are allowed to use the stock hoop up here in our tmr race series so I honestly wasn’t sure. Thank you for clearing that up!! Very much appreciated
Thank you very much for detailing your entire process, so we realize the degree of difficulty it has, you are very skillful bro. Congratulations.
Great video! Looking into getting a switch pros setup for my rig. The switch pros just saves a bunch of headache with relay failure and fuses blowing. Haven’t done much research on it but I’d like to wire up the ignition and start up to be a single press on the start and have it kill the starter once the engine fires. I’m sure it’s doable. Running the same setup. Ls with a terminator x. Very nice rig!
Thank you for posting and for coming out!! Can we share the link to this video?
Of course you can. Thanks for asking and sharing.
What was the build cost of that machine.
I have a video coming out in the future regarding how much it cost. Stay tuned.
Sweet. Man I have been working on 2 of these one a street legal and one not I have been working on mine since 6 months after covid. This stuff is so time consuming to get it right then when your done it only just begins. But yes really interested in your build costs. To do that out of a garage is so impressive just blows my mind. If I didn't see it I wouldn't believe it. Enjoy your youth looks like you are smart with your time. Hats off to you.@@FSUOffRoad
Anthony what type racing will you be using the car for?
Ultra4 Racing... We'll start the year off at King of the Hammers!
Diggendeeper Justin wills
Oh wow! Too cool! Awesome job guys!!!! ❤
Color certainly pops on the race course!
The camera's are going to love it. Nice job.
Looks awesome!!
good lawd lol.
LOL
Did you have to tap the threads for the trans cooler lines? I have the 1/4 NPT fittings from ATI and they will only thread in less that half the length of the fittings.
I did chase the threads with a tap so the fittings would sit more flush. Hope this helps.
Time to never take it off road😂
Not me thinking she was about to give birth 😭
Looks good
"Steering control module " orbital is actually a brand name of orbitrol which has become sort of a blanket terminology. S.C.M is easier to say if you catch my drift.
I want their flip kit
Awesome time. Enjoyed riding in the new build !
Now if we can get you to a race lol.
Geez man!
Just gotta send it lol.
Bro, i love the legend build. Slow down though with your speech. You sound like youre always out of breath, and anxious. Breathe...
LOL, thank you for the follow and reminder. Trying to fit everything into the videos is rough. I appreciate the feedback.
Looks like you needed a bigger BFH, Juice.
Definitely could of used a bigger one! Lol
Wow! Looks awesome man!
