🌟 WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
===========================
In this video, I take you through my 6-month journey and full First Lite Transfer pack review, show you how I used it, and set it up for both saddle hunting and mobile bow hunting (with a hang-on stand attached to the day pack). It is a well-thought-out hunting backpack.
The Transfer Pack has approximately 2000 cubic inches of storage and expands out to around 2900 cubic inches of space. It has a soft, quiet exterior and tons of pockets for storage. It even comes with a pre-installed bow rope system. It is customizable for your torso length and has excellent hip pads to help with the load. Its internal metal frame really helps balance it out and makes it capable of being both a day pack or a 3-day pack.
In this full bow hunting backpack review of the First Lite Transfer Pack, I show you how it works as a saddle hunting pack, as a hunting day pack, a mobile hunting pack, and more. The First Lite Transfer Pack saddle hunting configuration is shown in the beginning of the video and then I display how you can break the pack down and turn it into a mobile hunting pack as well.

    How would these pieces do with snagging thorns and collecting prickly seeds? That a big concern for the first 2 months of my hunting season.

    • @theeverydaybowhunter
      @theeverydaybowhunter 14 годин тому

      Not great. Both are very thin. The pants rip stop feature will help minimize tears, but thorns are going to go right through them. I can definitely tell you that lol. I don’t think prickly stuff will stick to the pants very well though. The merino top is not going to do well with either. With early season stuff like this, Asio, KUIU, and Huntworth have better options for environments like that. This is what you’re going to deal with when buying gear for hot weather hunting.

    Explain this to me. I've been hunting with the same Brothers for 12 plus years. One shoots 28-in draw 70 lb 362 grain arrow and he blows through elk. His brother has a 27-in draw shoots 70 lb and blows through elk with a 350 grain arrow. Everybody is trying to get high FOC and heavy arrows. But technically compound bows nowadays are so powerful. You really don't need it.!

      @@toreyyoung1518 first, shot placement is everything. Second, blowing through elk is also about the shot placement. But, this video isn’t about what you can do with the right shot placement. It’s about optimizing your arrow for what you are hunting and your hunting style. Watch it and you’ll see.

    I bow hunt from the ground a lot and I wear ASAT because it works. I like the ASAT 3D leafy suit. ASAT fools the deer. There is no need to hide. Once the deer see you and look you over, they will determine you are not a threat. Once the deer makes up its mind that you are not a threat, it is hard to change its mind. You can get away with movement and make a shot.

    thank you great information. Having a very difficult time choosing the correct arrow weight for deer season. Here are my spec; IBO 321, dl 29, dw 67. I dont plan to shoot past 40 yards. Current arrow weight is 389gm(400 speed) . So, Im worried weight. Current speed is 290. Any recommendations would be extremely helpful Thanks in advance

    • @theeverydaybowhunter
      @theeverydaybowhunter 6 днів тому

      You could safely go up to 500 grains. Arrow speed would be around 260 fps, but your KE and momentum look really solid (around 74.5 ft. lbs, and .575 Slug FPS. At 550 grains, your speed is approximately 243 fps, 72.1 KE, and .593 Slug fps. It really depends on what you want out of your arrow's flight. At 40 yards you would see a lot of drop out of the 550, but not terrible. If this is something new for you, I would start in the 475 to 500 grain range and see how that works for you.

  • @MrChiumiento
    @MrChiumiento 7 днів тому

    I just wanna say one thing about insect shield. People pay all this extra money to get these clothes that have this insect shield built into them. I have multiple issues with this and I’m gonna explain why. You can type in insect shield yourself and you can go right to their website yourself and you can pay very low money to send your clothes to them and have them permanently treated with the insect shield without having to pay the extra cost that these clothing companies are charging us. Go ahead and look up videos on how good it actually works after the first wash never mind multiple washes. It does not stay in the fabric. You have to retreat your clothes every time after washing, it is unavoidable as far as I know. I did extensive research on this myself this summer after pulling about five ticks off of me. I’m not saying that the pieces of clothing are bad. All I’m saying is that paying the extra premium for what insect claims is a permanent treatment is not worth it in my opinion. What I have elected to do I now make my own permethrin mix and sprayed on the clothes myself. It is much cheaper and much more effective. I treat my clothes with permethrin and I also use sawyers picaridin lotion so I can treat the areas I care to treat and nothing else. With a spray bottle you could end up spraying areas you don’t wanna spray and end up with sent in areas you don’t want sent. I bought the Ranger ready permethrin bottle just for the spray head because it has very good coverage. And I buy the 10% Martin’s permethrin and I dilute it down to a one percent mix and I put that in my bottle and that’s how I treat my clothes. Just make sure if and when you do buy the 10% permethrin mixture you get the water-based version and not the petroleum based mixture.

    A LIGHT ARROW AND A HEAVY ARROW SHOT FROM THE SAME BOW HAVE THE SAME ENERGY PERIOD! THOSE THAT DONT UNDERSTAND THIS NEED A REFRESHER COURSE IN 4TH GRADE PHYSICS.

    • @theeverydaybowhunter
      @theeverydaybowhunter 7 днів тому

      I’m sorry but that’s not just wrong, it’s very wrong. The kinetic energy of an arrow is determined by its mass and the velocity at which it is shot. While both arrows may be released with the same initial velocity, the heavier arrow has more mass, resulting in more kinetic energy. That’s the basic physics of it.

    • @Th3mast3r69
      @Th3mast3r69 7 днів тому

      @@theeverydaybowhunter Everyone knows that a heavier arrow has more energy than a lighter arrow "WHEN THEY ARE MOVING AT THE SAME SPEED" due to Newton's 2nd law of motion. The problem you guys can't seem to solve is that when both arrows are shot out of the "SAME BOW", the heavier arrow is "NOT" moving at the speed as the lighter arrow because the bow can't accelerate the heavier arrow as fast as the lighter one because of the extra mass "THE HEAVIER ARROW HAS LESS VELOCITY". Another law that proves I'm right is known as the conservation of energy. You can't get free energy from nothing. You don't magically get more energy out of a bow by shooting a heavier arrow. This test has been done repeatedly by many reputable people and clearly shows the lighter arrows have just as much penetration as heavier arrows.

    I bought a Magellan insulated Parka at academy sports last year and I used academy's base layers underneath it and I stayed totally and completely warm. it was around 30° every day I hunted I could not believe how good that stuff works so I went and bought a new set of bib overalls and a new parka in REALTREE APX camo this year that stuff is excellent especially for the price you pay a hunter don’t have to pay big bucks for good insulated camo gear. That is a mind game. that company’s play on people. that you got to have this high dollar stuff in order to stay warm and a lot of people fall for it. Take it from me. You don’t need it especially Sika It’s about four times the price of what it should be.

    40 lbs and 400 grain arrows take elk and deer every year from woman. Just seen a 370 bull elk shot yesterday at 70 yards first animal with a bow, from almost the same woman setup. Nothing beats accuracy, 10 inch penetration heart shot will even dump a mature whitetail buck. 99 percent of Archer's are not accurate on a live animal in front of them.

      Back when Sitka released the first deer vision optimized camo, I didn’t like it. It took a lot of years to catch on considering they first released it around 2012. It took me some time and a lot of research to realize how it works for deer vision and why. A lot of people don’t realize why this style of camo was developed, but optimizing for how deer and other ungulates was the catalyst.

      @theeverydaybowhunter 13 днів тому

      The best way is to setup on a transition or travel route just off their bedding area, preferably between that and food. A solid feed tree dropping acorns would really be a plus too. The closer you get the better but this also means there’s a chance you could blow them out of the area. It’s a balancing act for sure. This isn’t a bad subject for our next episode.

    So in your opinion, should I return the $700 stratus bibs and jacket to buy the huntsworth gear?

    • @theeverydaybowhunter
      @theeverydaybowhunter 14 днів тому

      This really depends on your goals with it. If you have the money I would stick with what you have. My brother always says the Stratus Bibs are the best thing he owns lol. But, if you are looking to save and have the same features with a little less quality fit, then return them. Remember, the Elkins jacket is almost identical to the Stratus, but the Stratus bibs are slightly better. The reason I say that is because of how they are designed, not the wind proofing, etc. On another note, remember these are mid season items that work down to mid-30’s with a good base layer. The Huntworth Saskatoon, while it doesn’t offer bibs, is warmer than both of those and one of my favorites. Huntworth stuff all have a regular fit as compared to the Sitka more cut and tapered one. I hope all this helps. It’s a tough choice for sure.

    Get a light gray top, and light brown bottoms. Then paint them yourself using browns black and whites making sure your shoulder areas and legs have opposing colors and patterns. Make irregular shapes, and don't hold the paint can so close that it actually saturates and builds up on the material. Then use a paint pen to draw twigs over some of the areas, but DON'T makes those symmetrical either. The paint should not be so thick as to impede the movement and normal stretch of the fabric. Let it dry in the sun and then wash it a few times in UVKILLER detergents, and test with a blacklight. Then test the camo against the backdrop of your hunting area and adjust as needed. DO NOT us to many dark colors and large spots. If you look like a dark blob and 30 to 5 yards you failed and need to start over. So many "amazing" camo patterns turn into dark blobs at distance and the shape of the man stands out perfectly. Most camo patterns on the market are designed to catch the hunter... NOT the hunter's prey.

    I’m curious your thoughts on the different material the sleeves are made from. It almost looks and feels like a cheap hoodie material on the outside. Also, how heavy and how long did the rain last that you sat in it with? Thanks.

    • @theeverydaybowhunter
      @theeverydaybowhunter 15 днів тому

      It’s a polyester soft shell meant to keep the sleeves tighter against your arms, minimizing bulk to make it easier to draw and shoot your bow. As for the rain. It was a steady, but light rain over the course of a few hours. Basically my entire morning hunt that day. The outside micro fleece felt wet, but nothing came through. I hope that helps.

    • @akomara1
      @akomara1 14 днів тому

      It does thanks. I put the thing on today and did some shooting and was really impressed with how quiet it was, and how there was no interference on my left arm when shooting. The interference was my main driver for purchasing a new heavyweight coat. My old one was a cabelas parka from 1998 when they still made good stuff. I also ran my arm under the faucet and it beads off like wool does. I let it run for about 5 mins, until the fabric was feeling saturated and heavy. I took it off and put my other arm up in there and it was 100% completely bone dry. It’s been soaking for another 30 or so and is still completely dry on the inside while the outside is soaked. You are right on the money with there being some Inner membrane or something, I’m not sure why they don’t call it “waterproof” instead of water resistant. Can’t wait to hunt with it later this year.

    • @theeverydaybowhunter
      @theeverydaybowhunter 14 днів тому

      @@akomara1 good. Glad to hear it. When these companies list their gear as water resistant and that they are treated with DWR - Durable Water Resistant protection, it means it will degrade over a few years depending on how often it’s rained on and washed. That’s also why you should always wash your hunting clothes in cold water and hang them to dry when you can.
