I would have been willing to buy a John Deere in 1972. Today, that company is an enemy of freedom & independence, and an all out enemy of anyone who believes he has the right to repair his own machinery.

Still own and operate my Dad's second 4020. Its a 1969 model. He traded his first 4020 off for a 4430 when I was in college. In the mid-70s he bought his second 4020. He didn't have the 4430 for long and traded it off for a 4440 in 1980. That was when I started farming. I used both the 4020 and 4440 for over 20 years. I sold the 4440 in 2005 and bought a new 7520. I've since purchased several other larger JD tractors, but I kept his 4020. I think its got about 7600 original hours on it and it could use repainting.

Square box fuel filter, canister oil filter. Roosa Master injection pump, and Syncho Range (?) transmission. But it had the console controls, not the dash mounts.

I’ve grown up on the countryside next to a farm. My grandpa also was a farmer and a vine dresser, so I’m a little biased.. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’d say that this old Deere is beautiful! 🤩

These JDs are when they had a good reputation and the dealers helped the farmers. Corporate JD and greed has ruined the brand.

Dad had that exact same tractor but with an air stack Gave $10000 for it Tractor was a year old He was supposed to get a 4230 ...Sold on his farm sale in 1984 for $10000

My favorite deeres are the 4320, 50 and 55 series then the 8000 series. The new gens of today are completely garbage and that goes for any of the brands

Back when Deere cared about their customers more than the bottom line. Made quality equipment THEY COULD WORK ON!! What Deere is doing now is making them lots of money short term but many farmers who wear JD green underwear who have been loyal customers are fed up with their inability to fix anything on their six & seven figure machines. Looking elsewhere for the first time in their families farming business and I’m right with them. Lots of great machines out there that are willing to work with farmers instead of padding their own pockets. This could do to Deere what happened to International Harvester back in the ‘70’s. Greed is a disease and a bad one @ that

My family bought a ih 966 and 1066. We plowed circles around neighbors that had 4020 and 4320. 😂😊😂
