Testing ACROWRX with an Edge 540
Today I am testing out the new ACROWRX aerobatic training tool. This is not a paid promotion. The ACROWRX system has completely changed the way I practice.
The telemetry box was built by Boulder Flight Systems and the software is used with ACROWRX to create the best review software.
I decided to run through the 2024 IAC Advanced Known Sequence.

Borrego Contest Recap followed by adjusting the sighting device on the Edge 540 shoutout to Barry Hinrichs for the amazing photos from the contest Video Text: Feels good to be back making videos. Today I am working on adjusting my sighting device on the Edge based off feedback I got from the last contest. The last contest didn’t go as well as I had hoped but I learned a lot. Test Flight After Pulling The Prop

Test flight in the Edge 540 after replacing the crankshaft seal. Finally getting back in the air after a few days of maintenance and work. Not the best day to practice, but it felt good to get in the air regardless. The Edge 540 is a surprisingly easy aircraft to work on. The ability to remove panels and access everything quickly makes routine maintenance a breeze.
Aaron McCartan flys better than me

Today is all about 3/4 snap rolls on the vertical in the Edge 540 UA-cam has been an unbelievable tool for me throughout my aviation career. I watched aviation conent long before I ever got into flying and have continued to use it to learn to this day. This episode is centered around Aaron McCartan and a video he made about what his practice flights look like.
What Happened to the Bonanza? - a happy story

two years ago my dad friend and partner in the bonanza experienced a complete engine failure and was forced to put the airplane down. Luckily he walked away without a scratch but the bonanza was lost. After two years of waiting my dad and I decided to go in on another bonanza together.
My Favorite Influencers - The FCS Podcast

I know Jeff and Mark constantly rip on influencers, but they are some of my favorite influencers! Mark Pollard and Jeff Petrocelli are the hosts of an aviation podcast called the Fly Cool S Podcast. I honesty owe them so much for motivating me to get into my first contest. Plus all the insight from the guests they bring on has been invaluable. I highly recommend you give the FCS Podcast a listen.
Back in the J-3 Cub

The streak of flying had to come to an end at some point. While I could have tried harder to make it happen, I was glad I was able to spend a few days with my family out in Florida while on a work trip. I didn’t think I would be able to sneak a flight in today but the weather broke just long enough to make it happen.
Finally Addressing The Wheel Pants

I was able to sneak a quick flight in before the storm hit California. The “atmospheric river” is closing in on Southern California and I only have a few hours this morning to get a flight in before it hits. I pulled the Cessna out and took it for a quick lap around the lake before starting on a couple long overdue projects. I dug up some old footage to make it complete.

Edge 540 and Sukhoi Su-26 formation flight Ferrying a new plane home always has its challenges, especially when it’s a plane you’ve never flown before. My friend Brooks just picked up his new, to him, Sukhoi Su-26 and is going to make a stop in Hemet on his way back. I decided to have the Edge ready to rendezvous with him as he approached Hemet.
Radio Failed Mid Flight
Переглядів 9528 місяців тому
Some days I feel like my timing is just on and I can make the Edge do anything I want it to, others feel like I walked face first into a brick wall. Today was the latter, I felt like I was flying it for the first time. To add insult to injury, my radio stopped working and I had to work my way into a busy pattern with no coms.

Where did you get the snowboard goggles
I see your flying out of hemet, my buddy and I have kitfoxes and fly there quite a bit. Let’s meet up one of these days
i know you dont feel the motivation to post, because your really livin that life and it might not seem worth it because of the views right now, but i swear if you keep posting you'll gain traction, we really needa get as many people into this hobby as possible to keep competitive aerobatics alive
How about showing us the flight on the computer and debrief the flight?
i wish more people knew about this hobby, i always imagine the movie speed racer but with these stunt planes and it being world wide
man my life goal is to save up and buy an msx-r or a 540 i love these videos
Много 🎵
If I ever put my smoke tank back in, I’m doing it at annual when all the skins are off
That's so awesome...and super precise! Keep it up Alex!
Thanks dude! It truly is a game changer
Keep the videos coming!
Thanks dude! I’ll make another one this week
Glad to have you back; I've missed your videos.
Thanks dude! Felt good to make a video again
Welcome back!
Thanks Fernando! Felt really good to make a video again.
Gotta love P strips. I think I have 14” of 7/16” balsa triangle on my wing inline with my spades.
I think I overdid it. I’m cutting it back a bit moving forward. Probably only going to run 8’’
Make them smaller and move them further inboard. Makes them more effective at slower speeds. I’m gonna adjust mine in the next week or two
Glad to have you back in the youtube land. Im planning on ordering my boulderflight box next week!
It’s totally worth it!
Great seeing you again. Greetings from Germany!
Thanks Marvin. It’s good to be back!
Bout time
Hopefully I keep it going
Were you at Oshkosh this year?
Yes I was. Tuesday-Friday this year. Flew an rv6 in
Yes we missed you
Thanks Bernie! It’s good to be back.
30 years # landing Pitt’s, 5000 hrs tailwheel. . I have flown contest all over the World. I have never seen a professional Pitt’s pilot wheel land. . Never wheel landed one! Why? Please don’t teach this…. If you suck at it then practice more.
I appreciate your opinion on the wheel landings. I always watched Sean and Skip wheel lands their pitts. I’ve seen old videos of Kirby wheel landings. I’ve always felt it was more controlled and safer. I value your opinion but I believe you should teach people how to do both.
Miss your videos brother!
We are back!
Wow
Just a different perspective
It's a good landing, you walked away
Thanks dude
What part may I ask?
Fuel vent line clog
Excellent video. I love the quotes at the end too.
Thanks dude!
Great views!
I need to mess with a couple different angles
More videos chief
Out soon
Nice job! Love the Christan eagle
It really is an awesome plane
Can’t pull the stick all the way back without dropping a wing in the Hangar 9 RC version!
I want to get better at RC flying to see how similarly they fly
Poooo pooio head
Thanks haha
Awsome videos man!i like your content!
Thanks dude! I’ll keep the videos coming
Thank you. Nice video, nice Pitts too.
It’s an awesome plane. I’m super lucky to get to fly one
RIP, Edan. You are sorely missed by many. Fly high
Boeing 777 ?
That’s the Cessna citation x aircraft
@@kelmd1030 Learjet i think ....
This airplane just crashed over the Palisades Wyoming reservoir killing the pilot. It has the same tail number as the plane that crashed.
Unfortunately yes
Unfortunately yes
RIP Edan, very big loss.
Tough loss for sure
Wings are mounted with an angle of incidence to the fuselage. If the judges are looking at the wing, sight to that, then adjust to taste I’d think
That’s what I ended up doing, I switched it up a bit to match what the judges liked
Where did you get that hoodie man?
I made it. I’ll have to put them up for sale
@@alexandercoats if you put them up for sale I will 100% buy one
i heard about an argentinian guy looping this plane 1134 times in a row in 1952 is this possible?
That’s insane! I want to look up that record
@@alexandercoats I read it in an old newspaper from back in the day. Not sure if there is any other records
I took her out. It was a Friday night.
Did you walk alone or wear cologne?
@@alexandercoats I used to think it was walk alone but it turns out it was wear cologne 😬
What’s with the goofy helmet?
I like looking dumb
What’s the airport you fly. ? I want to fly aerobatics in MSFS 2020 flying simulator , thank you. !
That’s at Borrego Springs CA
@@alexandercoats thank you
Where’s all the new content
Finally getting it made
What type of chute works best in the Eagle?
Softie Wedge
Hi, thank you for always great videos!😊 I'm curious about your helmet brand!!
It’s not my brand, it’s a Bonehead Composites helmet. I can’t say enough great things about them.
So some unsolicited advice worth exactly what you paid for it. Zero lol. When you flick (snap). Don’t let the stick stop in the aft (for positive flick) position. Treat it like there is a spring there that it bounces off out straight to the unload. Time your foot accordingly. However fast you load… unload three times as fast. If you flick right. Only unload to neutral plus a little bit. You will find the sweet spot. If you flick left… unload all the way to the firewall!!!! And then try to push the stick more. Use full aileron with both left and right… but hook it. So unload straight and then right into the full aileron. For vertical snaps. Here is a good exercise, first do a level flick. Then pitch it up and do the exact same flick but maybe 25° nose high. Get real comfortable with those then increase the attitude so maybe 45° get comfortable there no keep increasing the angle by 10 or 15° doing multiple flicks until you’re really comfortable until eventually you get up to vertical should make a difference. Again, completely unsolicited advice, but I hope it helps. Blue skies, Rob.
Awesome vid mate, the 26 is a beast!
Aerobatics is a stupid sport. 😮😂
I agree haha
What is the tail number?
Its good to see that you are now doing something positive with your life.
How are spins in the Eagle two up? I’ve heard CG issues?
No issues at all. Two large people could move it back far but I haven’t reached that limit yet
