Hi. I've put a 16" or 17" diameter log on it but I put a longer bar than recommended. It's made for a 14" log. I think that's with a 20" bar. I put a 28" bar on my chainsaw. I have a friend with a logosol and also doesn't like to lift his logs. This mill seems a little.easier but I have never used a logosol before. This saw is made by Norwood Sawmills.

I really like the logasol , but it yeah , getting the Logs onto it would be a bit more difficult.For this is lower to the groundp. I just got off the phone about 2 hours ago from talking with Norwood.And got a quote From them, so, I'm definitely seriously considering going with the Norwood portamil. I definitely enjoy watching your videos. I haven't gotten through all of them. And I've been watching as many videos. As I can find out, there seems as though. There are some guys out there that. Do not like it, but I like the Lotus low to the ground. Part of it, so that is why I was asking you how you liked the Norwood. I do have a bamboo mill. My second one that I've got haven't had a whole lot of chance to use it. It's a Woodland Mills HM126, which I really like but. A lot of me is more partial to the saw mill.I grew up my dad using alaska sawmill. This is definitely less time consuming setting up

Also I couldn't tell what type of wood you were cutting.I didn't know how much hard wood VS soft.Wood, you ever cut with?I've been trying to find some pine that I can cut up for boards.But for the most part we have hardwoods like o hickory walnut locusts and stuff like that

The purpose of this mill is to be able to mill in areas where you cannot bring a band saw mill so the choice is. So you take the loss and you're still able to get the wood you want.

Not sure what you mean but if you're asking about the bar, it's a GB forestry bar that is 64" long

I've never had an issue with idling but I'll keep that in mind

What do you mean by jammed? It won't move forward ? What is your equipment ? How wide are you cutting? Is this the first cut using a ladder or something flat?

@ottawamilling yes it won't move forward. I have a new Vevor mill frame. We'll tightened up. I made the 1st cut with a rigid plank and it was tight towards the end of the cut. Saw is Husqvarna 61 with 20" bar and ripping chain. I am only practising on a short piece of spalted Lime about 12" wide. I want to mill 10 ft lengths of the same width. I had already cut 15 ft lengths of Leylandii with a homemade guide on a ladder. I then bought the Alaskan mill and ripping chain. Ripping chain was difficult to find but eventually I got an Oregan chain. I thought that maybe my bar needed to be replaced. Would that be a cause of tge problem.

The slab you cut, is it flat? If you out a level on it, is it completely flat? And is the slab the same thickness at the beginning of the cut and at the end of the cut?

@ottawamilling it looks flat. Thickness is even all over. I measured with a caliper.

@ottawamilling I mean that the saw is tight in the cut. It needs a very large amount of force to move in any direction. The chain is not stalled. Cut is about 12" wide. Saw is Husqvarna 61 with 20" bar and a new ripping chain. Vevor alaskan mill.

Those planks were not heavy enough to affect the saw . And I am not sure what you mean by not being able to adjust the cut

This is meant to mill in remote areas where it's not possible to bring a bandsaw mill. And I've been running this chainsaw for about 5 years now. No problems yet! But thanks for your input!

I did. This was a throwback video of when I first got it. It was a temporary setup. Now it's sitting on huge 10" by 10" by 16' cants with the ladder screwed into stabilize the mill
