Road Racer Tries Rallycross for the First Time on iRacing
Today I'll be tackling the next series on my sim racing list, the high flying world of Rallycross! iRacing really has it all and this might have been one of my favorites so far. Hitting the jumps in VR is honestly one of the most fun things I've done when it comes to sim racing. Also tried out a really dumb intro lol Let me know what y'all think in the comments! Hope you enjoy!

    Well done! My first oval win got me out of rookies too. It was at Langley. A track I really love - the lack of banking and grass infield make it easier to see the chaos unfolding. (I only have 4 wins in total, 3 are at Langley.)

    Talladega is a hell of a track to play with for someone with limited oval experience such as yourself. The largest oval in America and, I believe, the largest oval used in professional competition. At 2.66 miles (4.23 km) long and 33 degrees of banking, it is also the steepest track on the nascar schedule. Not the steepest known active track however, that goes to the half mile Winchester Speedway in Indiana with 36 degrees but i don’t think that’s in iRacing. And to answer why they’re called “Stock Cars”, that’s because the league quite literally had modified and strictly stock divisions when it started out and the stock cars are the ones that were pushed to be the headliners and made it to the big stage, but with that came many not-so-stock things being introduced to cap costs, increase speed, and increase safety. Obviously the cost thing didn’t work out so much but the other two did and now the top series of “Stock Cars” aren’t exactly stock but the name stuck around anyway. True stock car racing does still exist though in more local areas with Pure Stock, Crown Vic, & mini stock type classes.

    • @lucid__official__
      @lucid__official__ 27 днів тому

      Also, a Tri-Oval is a type of oval track defined by what the curve on the front stretch is which is also named the “Tri-Oval”. It’s a type of un-numbered oval turn called a dogleg that is characterized by being much more defined than most doglegs and giving the track its on that distinct tri(angle) oval shape. Talledega and Daytona have extremely pronounced tr-oval doglegs but on smaller tracks, such as Las Vegas, the dogleg is noticeably rounder. This is not to be confused with actual triangular ovals such as Pocono, Trióvalo Internacional de Cajititlán, or Lausitzring which all have 3 turns as opposed to the other’s 4 + dogleg/tri-oval.

    • @costangracing
      @costangracing 27 днів тому

      Hey thanks for writing all of that out it’s hugely helpful! I suppose that would explain why the track felt so incredibly massive lol the stock car things makes way more sense to me now. It’s always confused a bit lol

    • @costangracing
      @costangracing 27 днів тому

      Oh ok that makes sense. I just looked up some layouts of the these tracks and now I see what exactly what you’re talking about. I didn’t even know that had different kinds of oval tracks until now

      Hey thanks man! Can’t wait to see the window in window stuff I bet that’ll look pretty good! And yeah VR on this particular race was ESPECIALLY fun lol As for the cockpit it is a next level racing GT-lite pro. They also have a cheaper not pro version of it. I had to go with this one because I’m really low on space and it also folds up but it works really quite well. It squeaks REALLY bad though lol I’m running a ton of audio processing to try and get rid of it on the mic but you can still hear it a bit. It’s not rock solid stability wise but it’s 100% good enough for me to comfortably run until I can get some more space for a full rig lol

    • @costangracing
      @costangracing Місяць тому

      Yeah it was an absolute blast and I’m totally going to be doing more of that! As for the VR, I absolutely love it for sim racing! That being said I was someone who was super sensitive to the motion sickness early on. However if you do it consistently for short sessions after a week or two you get used to it and the sickness goes away entirely. The key is once you start feeling sick to get out of VR immediately and then try again in an hour or so because pushing through it will just make you want to die lol in this case though my “VR legs” as they call them weren’t quite ready for the hours of circling for the video lol I’ll bet the next time I hop in though I’ll be mostly used to it but the first time experiencing something new can be a bit nauseating lol So I would totally recommend it but be warned, it’s REALLY hard to go back to flat screen racing after VR lol

After I get a proper 80/20 rig and get off my desk, then I wanna get a DD wheel and loadcell pedal set, probably Moza I think, and then it's gonna be a visual upgrade. So I need to figure out if I should go VR or triple curved. 😅 Of course these upgrades will be over a good bit of a course of time because I'm a hustling 16 year old living on a Caribbean island... but I've got this far!(G29, single curved monitor, new gaming chair, all Logitech peripherals, and just got a freaking awesome gaming PC![I was running a painful 18 FPS on iRacing, now over 100!]) Hustling definitely pays off! 😁
