After three months away from home, it feels so nice to sleep in my own bed again. Do not be fooled, this is not the end of the trip! We still have to make our way up to Norfolk, Virginia which is just a hop, skip, and a jump over the border. I have never seen conditions change so drastically being in the shadow of an island. I’m thinking of a light weight composite platform out one side over the outrigger beams. Then secure a self supporting swag onto platform. Secure swag to platform on each corner This system would help reduce windage when swinging at anchor as swag orientation would be fore-aft. Look forward to catching up with your content 👍
Beautiful video
You’re a gem mate, I like the way your brain works and the way you break information down. Very calculated not to get too technical all at one time so ius novices can take it in. Wisdom beyond your years.
The Formula classes were awesome! I raced fulltime on several F28 class boats and a bit in some other F classes in the first half of the nineties. Very hard work, but unforgettable! The F40 class died out a bit before my time, because they were a bit too heavy and too expensive. F30 was a lake specific light wind thing. F28 were much more extreme and F60 were ocean going, so those took over the attention and glory.
Dude that's a ,,Ti,,,,,not an Hobie Adventure island ,,,the Ti is a lot bigger than the Adventure island AMA 'S aren't big enough there much to small to try to make a diy camping tent on if the but the AMA'S from the Ti fit I don't know
Good sail!⛵⛵⛵
How many calories per day on average did you eat? How often did you have to pay to tie up to marinas to sleep overnight?
Keep it up Will. I enjoyed your trip on your Hobie AI. And the interviews you were able to collect. Climate change is so real! I'm 56yrs, born in LA, then lived in the desert for over 25yrs, and now 15yrs on the coast of the PNW. I have experienced climate change every day of my life. It disappoints me so much to know how we're going to leave this planet for our grandkids and their grandkids. 😢 Keep posting!
Is there some universal rule which says, as soon as you start to use your video, a neighbour will start using noisy tools, or kids will start screaming? Thanks for the video.
this channel deserves a lot more views.
If only the UA-cam algorithm agreed
Cool video Will, nice job.
Thank you much!
This is great. I was just imagining how to get a tent set up on a kayak system. Seems like you already have it figured out. You have a new subscriber!
Awesome set up. I have been thinking about getting a Hobie Mirage. I am from GA also and want to go out exploring some of the barrier islands. I have been to Cumberland twice but want to check out Sapelo.
Well done, Will! I applaud your courage for making such a lengthy trip on your sailing kayak. More importantly, I applaud your pursuit of those conversations along the route with people of varying opinions. You're helping validate for me that approach we should be taking, that of conversations, respectful conversations where we agree to, as Dan George put it, "let’s not look at what caused it. Let’s look at how to fix it."
Watched your videos during the lockdowns in my country great to see you’ve made a documentary about your experiences
I love it. Once I get my tandem island I will do a similar set-up. Thank you for posting.
Simply awesome adventure 💯👍👍
12:53 info on sleeping aboard begins.
i am binge-watching this trip
Will- fabulous series congratulations on your journey when you get the chance, if you could publish a gear list, that would be extra cool
You got such good video and the conversations sounds great. I'm excited for the final product!
Wow. I love that you're blending your passion for travel, sailing, conversation, and climate solutions together into this piece. Truly beautiful to see. I look forward to seeing the film!
Thank you so much Leigh! I am so excited to share this film and bridge the divide between adventure and climate storytelling.
I cannot wait to see the final product, Will!!!
Well done! Thanks for taking us along.
Subbed, hopefully your able to get back out there. Ow
Climate change is simple..heats up in summer and cools off in winter...how can water rise from ice when ice in a cup melts and doesn't make the cup overflow
Just discovered kayaking, so I'm binging on videos. This was awesome, great info. Congrats on your trip btw. Very inspiring. Best of luck in the future.
Wow, amazing to watch this two years later and hearing you speculate that the Covid era would be over in late May 2020. It’s been a gut punch.
So this whole climate thing…. How do you stop the largest NATURAL contamination? A volcano dwarfs all man made projects…. JS
Are you going to help stop those dad gum volcanos? You know they are the largest contributor to “climate change”?
Sorry got lost when I saw the Woodford Reserve. 😋. Nice way to relax after a long day!
Cool video bro
I was thinking of adding California to this system, a canal as the border barrier, though not literally on border generally. Figured if the wall money went to a canal instead, the project could pay for it's self and would bring water and new ports inland for both countries. Also the fill can help finish, build and repair the waterway any levy systems along the golf.
The water would have to be salt water though? (Not enough fresh water to do it) Would worry about salt water filling aquifers and killing all the farm land too
@@somethingsomething404 hard to say if there is enough water, I hear that the great Lakes flooded almost as the West is short in water, and I would not take it from the lakes, but all that water would flow to the ocean, or already to this canal system, minus that of that st Lawrence. If the continent were to really connect all these waterways, especially the st Lawrence, the reduced output of our continents rivers in to the ocean as they fill the canal to the West could actually reduce the amount of fresh water entering the Atlantic and off set the ice melt to fix the salt currents in the ocean and cool the earth. The claimant could cool before the water even gets to California.
Global warming bs.....hook line and sinker.....indoctrinated no doubt from pre K...
I see you registered your boat. Do you have a motor on it?
No motor, but in NC sailing vessels over 16 feet should be registered.
Excellent video. One question was about the pvc pipe. You mentioned it putting some of the load back on the kayak itself. Can you show what it looks like “installed” or in place to do this. Maybe I missed it but didn’t see that part. Thank you. Keep the videos coming and fair winds and following seas.
I cannot add a photo, but it was just a 1" pvc slid under the boards just in front of the steering handle
Looks really nice and well planned, Good job⬆️
That boat was made in a factory. Out of petroleum products. So we're the sails. Yep the navigation aids and the car u used to pull it. Hypocrite.
Would like to see 3rd person view 360 from the dock of the assembly. Badass thanks bro.
I think I have another video in one of my other videos!
Really high quality content pal. Keep it up 😁
Awesome series of videos. I'm tempted to make a similar series here in the UK on my Hobie AI 😁
Are there any AI people who gather in NE Florida
I do not know of any specifically but check out the hobie ai ti owners group on Facebook
Very interesting trip and record. Do wonder why you call this a kayak when I would think trimaran would be more accurate. Best wishes.
It definitely can be called a kayak as well. It call also easily have the amas and taken off and used as a basic Kayak
Very cool video and information
Well, what is going to be the next adventure? That AI was a fine kayak. Lots of capability in that yak. Whatever you decide to do good luck. MH
Thank you! Right now, my next big thing is land based up in Olympic National Park.
