Battle of the Octaves: Boss OC-2 vs. OC-5 - Which One Wins?
Переглядів 426Місяць тому
Quick notes: The Boss Oc-2 came out in 1981 and features a low octave and and EVEN LOWER octave! The newest member is the OC-5 which does have a higher octave and a vintage and poly mode. The poly mode tracks much better with complex chords imo but..let me know what you think? There is something charming about the OC-2.. 3 Tips for Writing Your Own Rock Guitar Riffs!
I have a 1952 les Paul. Serial number is not on the back of the headstock. It's stamped into the wood on the end. Number 820. My father bought it new in the early 50's. I inherited it. Also, it has the trapeze bridge.
???? Two totally different pedals. A tube screamer is not technically a high overdrive/light distortion pedal. So yeah no comment
Hey thanks for watching. This is just a comparison between the two. I’m not sure what you mean though with the Ibanez not being an overdrive pedal. The first knob on it is literally a drive knob. Hope you have a good day.
Good review. Thanks for demonstrating how this little monster sounds at different levels of gain and volumes. Well done! You convinced me to buy this one for stoner metal and heavier stuff!!
Awesome man! And those are some of my fav genres. The amp will suit those well.
These guys still together???
Clutch? Yeah still rockin!
Some killer riffs man 🤘
Appreciate you man! Rock on! 🤘 been busy the last two weeks but back to making videos! We will get together soon man!
Kinda like the riff slower bro it’s way more powerful
That’s cool man! It sounds good slow too for sure
❤
Love this vid Cliff !
Thanks Dave! Rock on dude.
❤
Hey Ryan! Thanks for watching man!
Try a Electro-Harmonix Hum-Debugger pedal with the Tele... It'll get rid of the 60 cycle hum with single coils.
I’ll keep an eye out for one to pick up!
@@riffwithcliff you'll love it !....then probably make a short video of it.
I have both and use them as boosts. If I want more mid I’ll throw on the tube screamer but for chugging metal riffs I prefer the OCD. I would recommend both of them since they’re so different.
My whole life i always assumed SG meant Satan's Guitar bc of the "Devil Horns"
They should consider changing it. I like this more.
Lobster claw, boxing glove or maybe it is Gumby's hand! 🤪 To be polite, I'll call its looks, "unfortunate." 😢
Lmao bro. It is unfortunate.
That gallop could easily go metal and those obscure notes towards could venture into some darker metal 🤘
For sure man! Metal James Bond is something this world needs too.
❤
Appreciate you dude
I really like the artwork on that pedal, but im biased with anything spacey lol
That’s the main reason I wanted to get it lol
love the cky songs man!
I miss CKY.
Hey Cliff, love the review. Just wondering does this SG have the same neck dive issue as other SGs? Thinking because it is much heavier, maybe it is better balanced?
It does but not nearly as much. I also barely notice it anymore because I’m so used to playing this guitar.
🔥 name of track please
Hey dude! It is actually a classic piece called Hall of the Mountain King I think!
Hell yea brother used to hear it when I was a kid just never knew the name and it sounds so sick off the guitar!
@@edwardbisono9889 Appreciate you dude. Keep on rocking
CKY sound!
Totally! and one of my fav bands
I was thinking the same thing
The difference is uncanny!!
Haha! Night and day!
The oc-2 has more booty power
Yeah there is some ass behind that an absolutely love. Thanks for watching man!
Cool demo and especially like these for solos. I could be wrong but I think Local H used a pedal like this as that band was just a 2-piece, guitarist/singer and drummer. So I’m thinking the low octave effect helped make up for not having a bass. Saw them live when my old band (The Guys) played at Springfest 99 in Pensacola
Interesting. I forgot about that band but I like them a lot. Dude the low octave really helps shape out the tone.
The intro riff sounds like uncle Ted’s Wang Dang Sweet Poontang?
Thanks for the heads-up! 😂 Any chance you think I can get royalties for that?! Thanks for watching dude!
They would sound good together. The Micro Dark had a darker sound whereas the Rockerverb had more mids.
Haha funny that you say this! I have actually combined the tones before and gotten excellent results. Cheers!
❤
Appreciate you man!
Keep up the channel! I love listening to orange amp reviews, so finding a new YT channel with high quality audio + banter like this is very rare <3
Thanks so much for the kind words! I appreciate you taking the time to share a rocking comment! Have a great day!
Man, I love writing parts with ambient reverbs!
Getting that huge sound with those ambient reverbs is amazing.
Cool riff man!
Thank you dude!
Definitely a couple crazy weeks for us!
It def has been!
Bro thought he could sneak Into The Void into the first 60 seconds without me noticing. Kidding of course, loving it!
It's messed up because no matter how hard I try not to play that riff,,,it always gets played. Cheers dude
We need a girl with a vocoder to make a response video and explain exactly what that booty do.
Hey Cliff love the graphics you added between subjects. Very professional!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching dude!
Great content dude!
Appreciate you dude! Rock on!
that riff is epic!
Appreciate you!
1940's heavy metal rules 🤟
\m/
Some cool sounds man! And that's a great way to do something different
Thank you dude!
It,s beautiful ❤
Great to hear you were safe through the storm. Thanks for the heads up. I never would have never looked at it from that perspective.
Thanks for the kind words rocker! Just trying to look out for rock n roll crew!
This may not be Kemper related but if you’re using an interface to plugin direct(like for VST plugins) there are specific levels for each manufacturer. Focusrite interfaces should be set to 0; I used to get weirded out by how much gain I had access to and ever since I started doing that my tones have been a lot better.
Interesting! I never really mess with plugs in that way but maybe I will start to and I’ll keep this in mind.
I have tried that countless times with aweful results. I never get enough saturation for my Metal tones with this approach unless I turn the amp gain or the input gain or both way up which causes way too much noise. Also all the VST companies say how "realistic" their models react compared to a real amp. If i have to turn the gain of a METAL amp to like 7 to get a usable saturated tone then that is everything but realistic. Lets say you are dialing in a physical 5150 with boost pedal in front. I can almost guarantee you that you wont go over 3 or 4 on the amp gain because everything else is overkill and starts to sound really horrible
@@metalpuppet5798that’s great to know, guitar tone is not a one size fits all kind of thing
Dude, I"ve yet to play through a Kemper (this means I'll be coming over soon!). I've always loved the sound of ENGL amps so glad you feature that. I also like that reverb around 21:45 in the video (I use that sound in a few of my songs and always loved that ambient sound). I'm wondering about the learning curve with this thing and how complex (or not so complex) it is. And what the core differences are between the Kemper and the Quad Cortex.
Dude can’t wait for you to check this thing out. Thanks for watching! That Engl amp was really killer.
@@Willemguitaryes I cut out like 90% of me trying to learn this Kemper in the video but I love that I did not really tweak the profiles because I thought that they all sounded good!
I have N4944336 but besides 94-95 I haven’t found anything else
I'd rock the F out of it.
Damn that’s one of the coolest sgs I ever seen My first guitar was an SG
Thanks so much! Yeah can never go wrong with an SG!
Most people care more about quality then if something glows in the dark
They’re fucking good
Super cool 😎 Oh, looks like it was made from old skateboards 🛹
yeah, EVERYBODY wanted it, which is why they are now 3-4k.
@rhettshull
corrosion of conformity??!?!?? hell yah!!!!
Awesome band!
