Welcome to our Pressed Flowers UA-cam Channel. Our goal is to supplement our "Foundational Flower Pressing Course", which will soon be available to purchase on our website, with extra tidbits of information from how to glue flowers to make into art pieces of your own to when is the best time to pick a flower for pressing.
We try to source most of the flowers that we press from local flower farms or from our own backyard, as we find locally grown and in-season flowers are the most enjoyable to press.

How to Frame Pressed Flowers - Glass on Glass Framing Mini Course
Переглядів 13 тис.Рік тому
This is a video that covers how to frame pressed flower pieces in the glass-on-glass style. We use a company called Picture Woods to source our frames out of Boulder, CO. In order to source our UV glass, we set up a wholesale account with Larson Juhl which is a worldwide company and they have frames as well. There are other ways to frame up glass on glass pieces, but this is how we do it. Affil...

Meditative White Pressed Flower Art
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
This is something new we are trying. People have expressed interest in watching longer videos of us putting together our flower pieces, so here's a timelapse of Keith working on part of this White pressed Flower Art project. We only were able to capture part of this one being made on film, but we hope to include the whole thing from start to finish for our next video!
Can I pl know how long these pressed art will last? txs
There are variables to how long they last. They can last decades but colors fade on flowers but the flowers are there with faded colors
Do you glue the flowers on to the board? Is that board?
We do glue all the flowers to the paper. You can use any substrate but we use paper. You could use whatever you’d like I suppose
@flowerpressstudio what's your opinion on pressing in the mixtures
What happens after you complete this part. What do you do next?
I would adhere the piece to mat board. Then I would frame it.
My 6 year old daughter loves to collect flowers and always feel bad when she has to throw then out. I found out about this great art and will introduce her to it. If like to start her off with this press. Thank you
This press would last her a lifetime. It’s a perfect way to not throw out flowers
I love how detail oriented you are! I'm curious if you color correct, if so what method do you like best? Thanks :)
Thank you. It’s a good thing but also a curse sometimes. We don’t color correct. Never have and don’t see us ever will. It’ll never be the same color of the flower so we let things stay natural and fade as time goes on
Also, whats your opinion on using glass vs acrylic ?
Don’t drop your tools 😂😂😂 Thanks for sharing 🙏🌻
Hahahaha. Yup I’m always dropping something
Wow 🤩
Thank you
Where did you find the tray?
It’s a silicone glue tray. You can find them anywhere. Easy peezy
What type of paper do you use
Rives or arches
Jamais vu un truc aussi inintéressant
Are you going to give it a go?
Hello, thank you for all your informative videos. I have a question that I have not seen answered anywhere else. When the pressed botanicals are layered on top of each other, like a stem of leaves and a flower on top, are the stems cut off where the flower petal begins? I have noticed that once the glass is laid on that the areas of the petals where the stems are can show through and create a line or a higher spot that makes the petals look bumpy and not lay flat. Thank you.
Good question. It’s personal choice. But I have cut stems as you said and then laid flowers right at the edge of the flower to mimic a fluid transition. That’s usually what I do. But I like to place the flower strategically into the stem sometimes. It’s sort of a puzzle to get everything looking how you want and then glue it down.
But you are correct. You can sometimes notice the stems if not cut through the flower but that’s also not a bad thing. It could actually be a very cool effect and I can envision doing that. It all depends on how thick the stems are, what flowers you are placing on top, and what look you are going for. Each look works.
Thank you for replying. Now I feel more confident knowing that either way works.
What beautiful art!!! I have a huge white flower garden that love but it’s usually brown by the end of summer- you have given me ideas how to save them to enjoy a lot longer! Thank you!!
Whites are beautiful but you will have a learning curve as white flowers are some of the tougher ones to press as the pigment tends to want to change quickly from its original white but it can be done. Love to see what you create when you start 🙂🙂🙂
They came out so well!
You my friend are nice to say that. Hahah. They came out but I think next year I’ll spend a lot more time with it and make a really fancy one 🙂🙂
Keith-the artist comes out with the delicate touch!
Hahhaha I’d like to give this a go again for a round 2. It was an experiment to see how it all went.
Lovely. Work of art.
Thank you for saying. Appreciate that
💞
🙂🙂🥰🥰
You're reading the fifth season
Omg it was seriously one of my favorite series. I was so sad when it ended. I joust wanted more. Hahaha.
Amazing 😍
Much much appreciated.
I used to press flowers with my mum to make cards and collages. Your work is so beautiful and full of life without taking the spotlight away from any of each flower 😮😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
It’s a really nostalgic art form. So many past times with moms or grandmas. Pretty great stuff. Appreciate you watching and glad it gave a good feel for you. 🙂 I think pressing flowers can really help get into a creative and quiet state.
Very very beautiful ❤️❤️
Thank you again 🙂
So pretty 😍
Thank you!! 😊
Very very beautiful ❤❤
Thank you so much for saying so
Very very beautiful 🎉🎉
You may have commented the most of everyone. Appreciate you watching
Very very best wow❤❤
And again. Thank you. I have a few more to post on here and this year am going to start working on some new works from things we collected that past months
woooooooiw
🙂🙂🥹🥹 thank you
yes a 1000 times
Thank you. Looking forward to working on some new pieces with foliage this winter
You're back!
Yeahhhh it took like 9 months. But we hope to make some more edicational videos on pressing and design stuff and a bunch of ideas 🥰
Beautiful work! I am struggling with framing some dried sunflowers right now and I don't have the luxury of using custom frames. Are you open to me sending photos for some advice?
You can email them to info@flowerpressstudio.com but I can’t guarantee I’ll be of much help. I’ll try though. 🙂
that's gorgeous work, i could watch this all day ❤
🙂 we are hoping to make some more educational content soon too. And more videos like this. 🙂🙂 thank you so much
So cute! I admire your art and your patience! ❤
Thank you so very much for this video. It is exactly what I was looking for! For the brushes you used, are you able to wash off the glue and reuse them or do you need to get a new brush each time?
You should definitely wash the brushes. I just let it soak over night in water and then give it a rinse, let it dry and reuse. Everything we do in our business, we reuse constantly. All paper is reused too
Hi, thank you for your videos and the course. Which glue do you use to stick flowers on glass? Can you use the PPA US Art Quest to cover flowers to protect them from discoloration?
We have out the PPA glue on some centers (like mums) so they do not fall apart but we have never put glue over an entire flower. You can try though and see how it goes. I use lineco glue for most sticking.
@@flowerpressstudio thank you very much
Did you paint backgtound black? do u glue the flowers in place? Can you cover with resin after complete?
we have not used resin as we do not know how to use resin and thats a process that would take time and space and we do not have either right now. but at some point we will try. we dont paint the background. It is watercolor paper. we glue all flowers. we have a glue video if you want to check that out
Can you use the lineco glue to keep the daisy center from shedding?
i have used lineco and PPA glue for that. :) it helps and does not do anything to the centers
@@flowerpressstudio thanks, I will try it on rose centers to see if it helps keep it from shedding
How do you keep the colour in the flowers ? Looks so cool
fading will happen over time. and all flowers react differently and age differently. we let flowers be flowers. :) but when we press the flowers and maintain color it is because of our pressing technique and we made a comprehensive course all about that. there are processes for all flowers.
@@flowerpressstudio I did pressed flowers on a wooden picture frame. Unfortunately all the flowers are now beige brown 🙃
where can i buy the pressed flowers?
Not sure. We press all these ourselves so I would suggest to press them yourself
It's gorgeous. Do you also do the flowers on the glass tutorial?
We do everything. I’m not sure I understand your question though
Hi, I have a question about your external spacers. Do you make these on your own? I am trying to find them at framing supply stores and no one knows what I am talking about. The closest thing I can find is glazing points to hold the glass in. Thank you!
Frame shops would understand, but maybe not framing supply shops. Usually spacers are plastic and come in white, clear, and black. That though doesn’t really work if you have wood frames. I started off by making my own and it was tedious and since all my equipment was old and not square, I went out to find a company that made frames and spacers to match. The two companies I know that so that are picture woods in Boulder Colorado (I was lucky as I’m in CO) and Vermont hardwoods in Vermont. Their frames are better than all. Handmade, Sustainable hardwoods. You can buy wood and make it yourself, buy it framed and stain yourself or have them do it all. They are more expensive but I positioned my product to be more expensive and used the best quality I could find. It’s good to understand framing, profiles, weight loads, etc. Glass is heavy so the frames were made with dovetails which is better than v-nails. Anything larger than a 18x24 glass on glass frame, I would increase the profile a step up and would also add flat corner brackets on the back to make it stronger and more safe for the customer. It’s all decision based if you are a business or just hobby based or how you want to be. I just wanted peace of mind always and went a bit further than most framing these up. But yeah spacers were tricky. Many people make them out of popular and paint them or stain them to get it close to the stain color of the frame. But I like the exact and cohesiveness the companies have. Hope that helps
Do you lay out your dried pieces before you put it together or just wing it as you go? I love watching the time lapse of how this came together.
They take 1-4 weeks to do. I lay out flowers and then take 99% away just to glue down 1 flower
@@flowerpressstudio I am very similar to what you do. I’ll arrange them all, take a picture and then rearrange and tweak it as I go from the pictures I have taken.
I love this!! Beautiful! I usually press and reconstruct wedding bouquets but I may have to try something like this!
You should totally
Hello even if the flower dry completely it can still grew mildew after framing please tell me what to do
I’m not sure. Make sure your flowers are dry.
Thank you so much for sharing ❤❤❤
You are so welcome
What’s the average price of ;for example 16x20) custom frame and uv glass?
Not sure. We don’t do any custom pieces for the public right now and it would depend on a few variables to come up with the price.
Which paper do you use?
Just regular copy paper
Is it okay to use black cardstock or other black paper sold at Michael's ?
Not sure. Probably. We use thicker paper though that is anywhere from 250-300 gsm
Do you apply any type of sealing on the frame to prevent moisture or insects?
We haven’t but have heard people doing this. I think it depends on the environment you are in. Also if pressed probably, it should be ok but I guess insects can always find their way in somehow.
We don’t frame anymore either as to ship the pieces we make, they need to be shipped unframed.
Thank you. I was looking for a great glue to apply passed flowers on glass and fabric. Do you have recommendations? Thank you.
Lineco
I Love it ❤
Thank you 🙂
...maybe i missed it...did you show a completed press?
I think the video shows a completed press. I suppose, what do you mean by a complete press? There were two ways to make a press in the video using two different bolt techniques.
I Love it ❤
Thank you
What glue can I use if I am only using one glass sheet? I was glueing the flower straight to the glass
I’d probably use lineco but you could check out our gluing UA-cam video. That make help you
