@@xmas4203 if you disconnect your battery the stock radio will not function unless you go through the process of unlocking the theft deterrent feature. This requires a code. I believe the factory used a default code on all the radios. I found mine in the owner’s manual. If someone changed the code, you will need to know the new code. Reset the code was not the right choice of words. I should have said “use your code to reset the radio”.

@@hartshut That explains why I've never needed a code. I don't have the theft deterrent feature. It's an 02 and I've disconnected the battery a half billion times over the past 22 years. 😁 Thanks for the response.

Does the cylinder turn with the key? Is it stuck in the run position? I guess what I’m trying to say is you must have the key even if you can’t get it out and you must be able to turn the cylinder to the off position.

I ended up using shellac. I sanded it back to wood, mixed flakes with alcohol and used a French polishing pad to wipe on 4 to 5 heavy coats of shellac. Then sanded smooth with 400 grit. I had to do this 3 times to get all the pores filled. But I did it in one afternoon. I have built another guitar since then and used shellac on it also. Thanks for the comment. I watch your videos and really enjoy them.

One tip I might pass along to you is that you can use a little coarser sandpaper between coats. It may make the sanding easier for you. You could probably use up to 220 paper between the coats without a problem. The 400 certainly will be smoother but may take more time. If your key is broken off in the ignition, you should be able to turn the ignition with a screwdriver or the tabs on the lock. Unless the broken off part of the key is not all the way in or it doesn’t have all the teeth of the key remaining on the broken off piece. Unless the cover for the pins and springs has fallen off completely. I’m only guessing here. If the key was broken trying to turn the lock, I think there may be something preventing the lock from turning. In my case it was the piece that covers the pins and springs (I referred to it as a door or cover. See video thumbnail). That piece is oriented downward towards your knee if you’re sitting in the driver seat. In my case I had to pull the cylinder lock away from the steering column as much as possible and use a very small and thin flat screwdriver to get into the small gap and push up on the piece covering the springs and pins. It had come loose and dropped into a slot in the steering column that needs to be there for a tab on the lock cylinder. If you have a new lock, look at it and you will see what I mean. Pushing up on the cover gets it out of the slot and will allow it to rotate. Then you should be able to turn the ignition lock. Without being there I know I could be completely wrong but that is my best guess. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I used the same bent nail shown in the first video (21:45), centered on the forward end of the tongue, hooked my tape measure on it and made sure the spring hanger was the same distance on each side. Since I used that center point on the tongue to run a string line to the rear and made sure the tongue and frame were centered to each other I knew the axle would be 90 degrees. In video 3 I explained that while the trailer pulled fine I felt I needed to move the axle back about a foot. My suggestion is to look at other trailers of similar size to what you want to build and put your axel the same distance from the rear of the boat. Sorry you didn’t like the music. @@hartshut Thank you for the clarifications. I thought there may be some "simple", "rule-of-thumb" calculations to determine center of weight, axle placement, trailer capacity and so on. Also, wished you would have included cost of materials and perhaps where you acquired the steel. What passes for "music" is often a very subjective topic and everyone has their opinions of course. Personally, it seems most of the YT videos with soundtracks, would be of much better quality without them. I look for sound (no pun intended) information and quality of delivery, not background noises.

As I’m watching this the first thing I thought right away was the front axle leaf hanger was way too far forward. There should he a 60/40%split where the axle should be making the trailer tongue heavy to pull right.

The alarm worked for about a year after this repair then it started giving false alarms. I took it apart and found what I believe to be a tiny capacitor burned out. I say “believe” because I’m only 90 percent sure it is a capacitor and I don’t have anyway of testing it so a dark coloring on it makes it look burned. And with so many unknowns I decided to buy a new one. They really are a good buy for the money.

@@hartshut Gosh. Thanks! I have a different receiver(it's round) but my transmitter looks identical to yours. I'll check it out. My receiver actually has a crystal but the transmitter has the blue oscillator. I think I ordered the set from a commercial supplier. I'll let you know if I figure it out.

I just now from hauling junk around trailers with a little more tongue weight or the axle favoring the rear of the trailer more so than being in the middle seemed to pull better. Should back a little easier too. I’m getting ready to strip & redo an old eagle boat trailer we’ll se how it goes lol
