Museum of American Speed
United States
Приєднався 10 жов 2011
The Smith Collection of American Speed is a non-profit organization, with 501 (c)(3) status, founded in 1992 by "Speedy" Bill and Joyce Smith. This museum was formed to preserve, interpret and display physical items significant in racing and automotive history. Moreover, it presents a continuous chronology of automotive racing engine development. The collection results from the Smiths' personal involvement in racing and hot rodding, and their lifelong passion for collecting and preserving racing and automotive history. With UA-cam we can now bring a little of the museum right to your computer.
The Eric Zausner Collection
Eric Zausner was a brilliant collector who loved expressing his ideas through custom cars and hot rods. We are honored to display all five creations from the mind of Eric Zausner in collaboration with Moal Coachbuilders.

An absolutely amazing collection
The music junked another video👎👎👎👎💩
Thank you 😊 from a long time fan
1972 Phoenix Arizona my father knew these racers we went to the kon tiki and I met John Singer Roger Rager Bubby Jones and Jan. They all treated me as one of them Jan actually took time to talk with me for awhile he Was genuinely the most influential person I ever met . He won the western later that night. All of these racers created a hard core sprint car monster even now it drives me to build a better car. The latest design is for Jan he would approve I still have that connection.
I met first JAN at PHOENIX Manzanita Speedway . He was very friendly even with us Hispanics. My deepest condolences to his family,RIP 🙏🤲✝️
Awesome custom. That is dedication.
Still get goosebumps,,on past automotive hot rod pioneer's, 👍 🏁
THE ONLY THING I REGRET IS THAT I DID NOD SEE JAN RACE - HE WAS MAJIC
I am proud to have supported Mops and Pops caring for jan .I still have the letter she sent me.I have only wore my Opp tshirts 1 or 2x ever.Rest In Peace.
Everyone needs to read where eagles fly.
Went to Eldora Speedway for first time ever,1972 ,I was 7,Jan won that day
I saw Jan win a feature in the rain at PortRoyal Speedway one night . It started raining with 5 laps to go and Jan was battling with Smoky Snellbaker wheel to wheel. Neither driver would slow down With 2 laps to go Smoke finally backed off and " Jan the Man" took the win. At the end it was pouring down rain . That was in 1972 .
Jan was the greatest sprint car driver ever!
Many would share your sentiments....I believe his Sprint Car is on display at their museum in Lincoln Nebraska....honorable mention to Dave Darland, Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Doug Wolfgang, Tom Bigelow, Rich Vogler, Gary Bettenhausen, Larry Dickson, and Sammy Sessions.
Thank you so much for putting this film together. I met Opperman in June of 1976 at Sky Valley Speedway ( 1957 -1977.)
My sister was friends with AJs daughters, I had the pleasure of meeting AJ on a couple of occasions. I wish I would have known then what I know about him. I was very young but remember how kind and open the family was to let me just hang out. They were defiantly a different level of cool people given the fame of their name. God bless them and I will forever hold those memories in my heart. What a great childhood I had growing up in Speedway Indiana
Awesome 👍🇺🇲👍
NO donuts in the parking lot as your leavin'? C'MON!!! ;>) Break a leg Buckaroos!
Beautiful car
Thanks for sharing this. Think Jan's only fear was GOD. He truly believed in our LORD. He sure drove with his head as well as with his foot. GOD BLESS Jan Opperman.
I know this is a Old video but my Dad has a 1950 Ford shoebox with a V8-Flathead were putting on a Fent-N aluminum intake with trip 2br.ford carburetor's we're just trying to figure out what linkage we need , we're really not sure any help or tips would be appreciated thank you 👍✌️
What wonderful thing. Those people and that amazing machine they built .thank you for this video
Good luck guys my father and I drove a 1903 Packard from san Francisco to new york in 1983 to commemorate the old pacific trip. You are in for a great adventure.
Evidently I have distant family that are also into racing, cool stuff!
I saw Dan waxing his shop today. It's absolutely an amazing shop.
One of my old bosses Was friends with Ed. Ed Perlburg Raceland wrench. Learned alot from Ed.
This wealth of knowledge will be lost forever unless he has taught an apprentice along the way
Imagine how this guy would have been with a proper education and today’s computers. I’d heard of Isky all my life and not really ever thought about the man himself. I’d love to see this guy speak sometime. Ycats
Awesome
Someone found the original, they're setting up it's restoration now
It's going to be at pomona for the grand national Roadster Show this weekend ..2/3 thru 2/5 /24 in It's unrestored find..the original
I've acquired a three deuce intake for a flathead ford, Strange thing is it ha the Ford logo casted into it, so who made this
Someone found the original, videos on UA-cam
What a looker, but still it's the sound it makes, man that sound is perfection.
Please check out my 1968 Barracuda fastback 512 stroker. I think you'll approve.
1:25 that formula 5000 T was in the hands of Ed Newton for a long time. There was even a picture of it with a primered body mocked in place in Street Rodder magazine many years back. Pretty sure Ed never finished it.
Great to hear Dan telling his story. His Ice Truck has been a big influence on my taste in hot rods!
Incredible collection obviously....and incredible knowledge.....that should be shared in books!
I'm a HUGE fan of Dan's work. Still have a 1970 issue of Rod & Custom magazine with the Ice Truck build feature.
This is fantastic!
This is an eye opener for me. Thank you.
He was a one of a kind.
There will never be another opperman
these mopars are so ugly-cool, I cannot get enough of them.
Cy is such an awesome guy to talk to. I've recently met him living in a town in MN called zumbrota and feel honored to call him a great friend of mine! As a car guy myself, we have great conversations! Awesome video, and can't wait for the 2nd!
An amazing person, story and car. Looking forward to seeing the pictures in the 3 ring binder! Thanks for sharing this
a pioneer and fords love it
I was at Jennerstown, PA in 81 when he had that really bad crash. You could have heard a pin drop when they loaded Jan up into the emergency vehicle. He has always been my Hero. R.I.P. Jan
I thought the 64s had 4 taillights and lights in the grill
And now the Unser museum has left Albuquerque NM and has gone to be part of the Speedway museum in Nebraska. Went there the last day it was open and it had a constant waiting line all day !
The one manifold that had two carbs facing each other brought back memories of my youth. My friend bought a replacement two barrel carb for his '62 chevy pickup with the in line six, and it was the wrong carb with the linkage for the throttle on the wrong side. We spent the night designing and making a linkage system to work! RIP Wendell!
I'd rather see 'em being used. But that's just me. One man's collection is another man's hoard.
