That liftmaster sounds like a hoover.
Wanting information on the wall mount opener, the one you have mounted. What is the point of this video?
The point of the video is I film my hobby of collecting garage door openers and accessories.
Nice to see an old Genie that doesn’t sound like my 850. 🤣 The 450 is yet another tank of an opener.
An old alliance made screwdrive was on my want list for a long time! About the only part I see that would fail is the carriage teeth, hell I didn’t even know the limit switches were all metal!
I have this exact same powerhead in my collection. Its a mechanical relay instead of a control board. I think your opener is a 1978, as they went to the electronic control boards in 1980. In my unit, the capacitor is dated 1978. I could not agree more with you. These old 70s and 80s genie screw drives were the best. A true direct drive unit where the screw goes all way through the motors rotor instead of a cheap flimsy plastic coupler like they are using now. Great video. So cool to see these units living on and running circles around the cheap units.
@@seangriffon6502 They were built like tanks! Mine does have the control board inside, my guess is that it is a 1981 unit then.
The opener is pretty quiet than what I've heard before. They're usually extremely loud now they become quieter as far as screwdrivers go I have a belt drive model 2028
Usually the older screw drives tend to be a bit quieter but they all eventually get loud without grease!

Nice! Those were awesome machines
I know! Absolutely love it.
Man those are sweet, i was so excited to find them lol. I'll have to keep an eye out for a code card receiver that actually works to use on this.
It would be awesome to have a matching set of original radio controls!
I have tbe matching radio controls. Its a black metal box with an aluminum antenna that hangs down, looks similar to the antenna on an old chamberlain radio style wall console. The remote i have is a white nylon case with a beige button and battery cover, you have to pull the tabs back a little on both sides to remove battery cover. Receiver and remote have a yellow tag. I believe its an AR series, but could be wrong. There is no dip switches remote and receiver has matching frequency, and you have to tune a coil in the remote to pair it with the receiver. I think thats how you do it. They had several frequencies available, you had to get one that was same as receiver.
Awesome! I have a AT-79 remote which has the code card system to program remotes. The remote has the matching code card so In theory if I can get a receiver the remote should work!
I have the same allister type 2 a opener powerhead with the gray cover like yours. Purchased it off ebay. It has a intercontinetal dynamics frequency 312 mhz remote and receiver. Both are brown in color. I think the opener is from 1990. It had a sticker on the bottom cover towards the light lens with an instsll date of 5/1990. My opener is tge ARD 1/3 Horsepower model. This opener has a much longer circuit board than the allister that has the tan color wrapper cover. This unit here of mine and yours is a great unit. Built to last. You can use any receiver with these. A Linear delta 3 recriver will work also as long as you have tge correct remote programmed to it. I am in search if a 318 mhz alluster branded receiver with the AD series remotes. The gray one with the bright green led light. Have any you want to sell me? Need one 318 mhz AD series remote and receiver to match. Let me know. I dont really care for the intercontinetal dynamics recriver and remote. Want the original Allister receiver and remotes.
Unfortunately I do not have any alister radio controls for sale at this time.
That's a pretty loud knock
Thankfully it wasn’t from the engine! It was something to do with the clutch basket iirc, never looked into it as the machine always drove fine.
@vemcomachines9634 always something going wrong with quads, tractors small engines etc. My buddy let his brother borrow his Suzuki king quad 300 when it was brand new him and his friend jumped it and broke the carb. They paid it off put it in a garage $500 later it runs but no power in 2nd gear or higher
I lived in a rental that had one of these. Lots of childhood memories.
Definitely an awesome machine. I now also have a light cover and multifunction panel for it!
Do you have a manual for this model? I need one to hook up the lights. thx!
Unfortunately I do not, I apologize!
That is a cool one I’m curious what year is it from
1991!
Does this have sensors

I have the exact model, although my remote keeps reseting the garage remote for some reason.
How to re-program remotes on these?
That same thing happened when i used to have an old gx9000
What about the keypad? Model number? Does it work?
No idea if you will ever see this, do you know how to clear the codes? After pairing a new remote all of a sudden my neighbors clicker is opening my garage.
How in the hell do you program remote openers for this thing? Every manual I've found is not helpful.
Love these units! Will last longer than any 87504! Bet ya if you put one of these on a door and the other with an 87504. This thing would still be there 30 years later! And the 87504 would be long gone haha. Great video!!
That’s quiet that just as quite as the 1280 or
Do you have the Liftmaster model 1280 R
No I do not.
@@vemcomachines9634 ok that opener sounds just as quiet as the 12 80R
Great video that’s a very quiet garage door opener
Nice man super quiet, glad to see that stanley button put to use finally
Yeah me too! But I liked the 98lm to much hahaha
Cool
very nice Stanley and happy labor day!
It’s actually amazing how many of these things are still around. My old neighborhood was full of them. Nice Machine!
My neighborhood used to have tones of them, unfortunately there are none left that I know of!!
Poor garage door opener hopefully it will get fixed soon
Nice find! You’ve got those doors running really nicely!
Just need to replace the plastic rollers that have been installed on both doors for at least 20 years LOL
such a smooth opener, so quiet and looks amazing. love that challenger man, looks sick!
Nice man, super quiet even with the square rail. Challenger looks hella clean too
I was very surprised how quiet it was with the square rail, It would be nice if it was a t-rail though
About time you uploaded a video on UA-cam
I have not had anything to film and I don't have the time for UA-cam anymore Lol.
@@vemcomachines9634 oh I see what you’re talking about now
Worthless video!
Don't watch it!

The stanley put some foam in the case to damp some of the vibrations
Kind of reminds me of a chain glide on the track. It even kind of opens like a chain glide. But it you look closely, It’s just a regular chain drive.
I believe I may have a matching genie receiver for your AT-79 remote. Let me know if you're interested.
I've replaced so many of these openers over the years. They were great machines, even if noisy. I wish they had kept the boxy case designs like these, when they came out with the more rounded cases in the mid 2000s they sadly became much louder.
These genie machines with clutches are my favorite genie machines!
I think the door makes more noise than the opener does lol
I think the genie is quieter LOL
This is why I like the old Genie's. All they need is maintenance and they're really good machines. This video reminds me of when I showed up to RGDMan's. 🤣
That blue max is so quiet! I’m pretty impressed. Jesus that 8550 is really wanting to kill itself lmao. Great video!
my lw5000ev wants to kill itself its about as loud as the 8550
Awesome Love those old blue maxes
I still can't believe how quiet the genie was
Dude, if they're kept lubed, they are really good ops!
Clutch genie screw drives will always be my favorite openers
Nice video That’s the first generation style garage door opener I like the first generation style openers
Any update
I missed this comment completely I’m so sorry, I haven’t touched the machine in about a month but I couldn’t see anything wrong with it internally, I was talking with the garage door geek about it two months ago and we couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it… I am unfortunately going to part ways with it but it is going to someone in the community and for the sears I’m getting A genie bluemax screwdrive. As of right now there is an old red cased V-belt sears on Craigslist I might try to grab so that might be in the collection soon!
I actually have this exact Sears now and basically it closes just fine, when it's opening it moves little tiny bits at a time when the down limit is still pressed in, but as soon as it gets off the down limit it runs down and stops on the limit again, so if you know the issue let me know, I'm working on it as I'm typing this
@@TBHD724 I wonder if the limit switch is no good, see if you can source a replacement. !
@@mcdlt8414 it actually just magically started working lol. I ran it 2 full cycles just fine
Shit, that’s sweet ride. Wish I had one lol
