As an old man who originated from 'traditional, wooden boat building', ancestors, I must say that all this brought back so many happy memories in making wooden boats and sailing in them, As a dockyard apprentice I remember the rope making and the sail loft and all the terminology in my own language describing the different parts of the sails and the tools that made them. Congratulations all, including those on the original Bluenose. It must have been a hard life back in those days, and the modern life is not any easier, made possible by the dedicated professionals and the volunteers seen in this video. Need not say any more. Here is an old man , alone in this room, half way around the world appreciating all your work. Congratulations all for your interest and your team work. Do not let the modern world destroy your tradition and your community work as there is a richness that can never be evaluated in a financial sense Best regards and keep it up as long as you can. Well done.
Gotta love the Rankins!
Very enjoyable to watch ...... thank you
I am building a mo9del of the bluenose from model shipways and I can not find any info. on the compus on the back cabin-also the planes look like the post at the back of the cabin has metal about half way up the conor post. I can" find any more info on this . Can you help me ? Thank you very much. John
In May or June 1985 my Grade 12 Phys Ed. class was touring recreation sites in NS and we stopped in Lunenburg. The Bluenose was in harbour being painted and I got to put a few brushstrokes on the stern. And that was my 'Heritage Moment', lol.
Thanks for sharing this. It has inspired me to paint a picture of her racing in the ocean. I am trying to get your book from the library to read it. 👍🍁🍁
❤❤❤❤❤
I went for a ride on this ship when I was a kid in the 1970s and I thought 💭 it was in Boston Harbor!
Класс. Спасибо ... Удачи ...!!!
Дякую ... Дуже цікаво .... Успіхів Вам ...!!!
Many years ago, I was at the Ontario Science Centre and spent the majority of my time there gawking and drooling at Ben's models, of which there were plenty. Such incredible craftsmanship! I recall watching Ben using a small jeweller's file to cut all the cogs into a gear for a windlass. Wow! Thanks Ben, you've started me on a career of model making from wood and from scratch. I've made a number of models now and donated most of them to museums.
Beautiful work.
Nice to 'see' you again Dan!
Good interview with his Grand Daughter , loved seeing the old Black and White photos of the Bluenose under Sail :-) Best regards from Montreal :-)
@ Mr Ben -- if you were to still have those detailed plans for the Columbia ? you could have them re - printed ( a series of copies ) and sell them on the internet for a pretty penny each ! / it would keep you in wood for quite a while :-)
The Shipwrights did an amazing job of the re build ! She's stunningly Beautiful ! :-)
Captain Dan let me volunteer crew the Ernestina Schooner with him in 1987 from Mackinac Island to Toronto Canada. My payment to him was an ivory scrimshaw of the Ernestina Schooner on a brass business card holder. Amazing voyage through Lake Huron & Lake Erie on a real genuine wooden historic vessel. Thanks again Captain Moreland, all these years later your still at sea, what an amazing career.
How can I get a print off the 100 year poster
Finally caught up to the online museum tour thanks to a tip from a friend in Kingston, Ontario. Loved it and learned a lot. Maurice
I just got the book and look forward to reading it this winter by the fire!!
Bluenose was the Flying Cloud of schooners. Bluenose was a perfect schooner.
What an amazing tour! I love hearing the stories!
Way to go Dad! Great video!
Well done Mr Croft, thank you :)
Why wouldn't you send the cameraman below to shoot some scenes alone and then add the commentary later? The size of the berths is fascinating.
Very well done and informative. Loved singer and guitarist.
Great tour with wonderful information. Learned a couple of new things too. Lovely to see home today.
Thanks for putting that online, since we couldn't get down this summer. Looking forward to being there again!
What a wonderful interview. Thank you very much! She DEFINITELY is "our" Statue of Liberty.
A very lovely and informative performance. It is really great! Thank you for all your hard work!
Very well done, and very informative! Can’t wait to see her this summer!
Well told, Susan!
Loved the subtitles. Awesome to see Bluenose II written variously as bluno’s two, blue knobs, blue nose, etc. Roué as roey. Lunenburgers as luna burgers (great name for a fast food restaurant)!
Well Done everyone!!! A wonderful tribute and important vehicle to honour and promote The Bluenose legacy
