First Pelagic of 2022 Plus Deep Dropping || Hawaii Fishing
Caught the Mahi Mahi in March 2nd of 2022 . Its been a slow year for me, this was my first pelagic of the year . Took me an hour to catch 3 opelu in the morning and then decided to troll one out the back while i tried to catch uku and ended up catching this Mahi in 150ft . Trolled a little more and ended up chunking up the bait for bottom fish. Also through in a video of a couple of days later when i went deep dropping real quick.

Big Gindai and Banax 1000 Test.
Переглядів 3,3 тис.2 роки тому
Weather has been cherry but havent been able to fish because of work. Got out on Saturday and caught two 2-3 pound Gindai but only recorded this one. The Banax Kaigen 1000 is my new electric reel and it's a beast cranks hard and reels in quickly. Only downside is it drains my battery after about 15 drops to the bottom but thats fine with me.

super glassy day with zero wind and I either catch Opakapaka or Kalekale not sure which one. also my old Garmin unit broke and I took it back to West marine on insurance and got it replaced with a Simrad Cruise 7. Ended up not liking the unit because it was unable to show bottom past five hundred feet.
Quick Trip with Rough Conditions.

Quarantine has kept me at home the past 2 months. but its finally been lifted to where I can launch my boat and get fishing. Conditions were fair today and the moon phase was really good. Fishing was decent , was hoping for it to be better but with summer just finishing I may have set my hopes to high.

bait has been so hard to catch. took me an hour to catch 1 in the morning, then randomly i pass over a school and catch 3. ended up turning it into something special. Also I really want to catch a Shibi/Ahi over eighty pounds this season on my little dinghy hope i can make it happen.

Penn Squall Level Wind Reel Failed Me || Inflatable Fishing #5
Переглядів 22 тис.4 роки тому
Tested out my new conventional reel today... didn't go to well ,fished for 6 hours only had 3 bites two of which I goofed on and they got away. Last one was going well until the drag system on the pole decided not to work. It literally wouldn't pull any drag no matter how tight I set it. Ended up sending it back through amazon and they send me a functional one that I've yet to use.

Did the usual of launching my boat out at 5:40 too catch bait. Bait was easily found at 60ft. Headed out at around 100 feet and dropped my first bait when i hooked into a Aha (Hound Fish). They're pretty toothy and aggressive so I let my line go slack hoping it would wiggle itself free. After the fish got off I re-rigged hoping for my first ono, but A 3 to 4 pound Mahi Mahi bit instead. I've be...

Could have been a reel malfunction, but more than likely way too much line on the spool. I’ve made that mistake myself.

What size engine is that? Looking at a 12 foot inflatable and need an engine with enough power for rivers/back bays

Dont use braid on casting reels. It will embed in the reel and break. I went to straight mono for that reason.

Uhh, if it was really a 10lb fish you hooked no way would that break the drag on a Penn Squall series reel. I saw a video on a Penn Rival 20lw pulling in rays in California and that's supposed to be older tech than the Squalls.

All user error..the equipment did not fail you but you failed yourself because I catch King Mackerel and Cobia on these reels with 30 LB test braid and use 80 to 100 LB flurocarbon or wire leader.

I started kayak fishing, sold that. Bought a 10ft inflatable a 4hp engine. Love it, works great, just went out yesterday , uku ulua, lost something very big, maybe a shark, 6 ono strikes cut my 80lb leader, forgot the wire rigs. Been out windward side very rough, all white caps , handled fine. Better than kayak fishing . cheaper too. any questions lmk
