Awesome! 👊
Thank you for this!
Glad I could help! 👊
Thanks for everything you do!
Thank you so much! 🙏
I was looking for hours for exaclty this. Thank you, honestly.

Is it possible to filter by more than one property? For example, status not started and checkbox not ticked. I have tried various combinations of linking 2 filters with zero success. 😢
Definitely! Here is a formula example on how you can filter by what you mentioned. prop("Tasks").filter(empty(current.prop("Checkbox"))and current.prop("Status")== "Not started").length() Where Tasks is the related database, checkbox is a checkbox property and status is a status property.
@ many thanks. Much appreciated 👍
This is exactly what I am looking for but I want to remove the ordering..e.g If I have 3 check boxes; A, B, C, representing Apple, Banana, Carror. and I click A + C...then I want the result to say "Banana missing" or alternatively Apple, Carrot.. I woudl like then to have any variation of that combination. Any suggestions?
You'd use the AND and OR formula functions. Here is an example in one of my videos: ua-cam.com/video/dV22oepBig0/v-deo.html
anyone help me. I want formula suppose I have 1*1 table in database if I Press A1 cell to Select A then B1 cell will show 2 if I Press A1 cell to Select B then B1 cell will show 20 if I Press A1 cell to Select C then B1 cell will show 5 if I Press A1 cell to Select D then B1 cell will show 50 How I can do this? Please Help me
You can use the ifs formula function. You can learn how it works in this video: ua-cam.com/video/zkB0pW_k20w/v-deo.html If you want to learn how to use Notion formulas in general, you can watch this: ua-cam.com/video/1_sRZkEmsXI/v-deo.html

Is it possible to filter for a different property instead of date? Such as person the # is assigned to?
I'm trying to add up the number of profiles assigned per person
es, you can. If all the names are unique, you could use the contains function to filter out specific names and use the length() function to count them up. Here is an example: ua-cam.com/video/nU45U4oOXNE/v-deo.html
Is it possible to do this but filter for a person instead of a date? I want to sum up # of profiles assigned per person and cannot figure out how to do that.
You could use the length formula function to count number of assignments. Here is an example: ua-cam.com/video/JB4DX8XiykU/v-deo.html
I don't usually leave a comment under a UA-cam video, but I have to admit that this video is a masterclass. I went through the whole channel and the content is really interesting. Thank you for sharing all these examples and knowledge. 🔥

Awesome video Ray, very valuable and educational

This button does not work if you want to "undo" your vote. Do you have any suggestion?
You can duplicate the button and then change the automation to remove person from the current page. You can access this setting by clicking on the toggle for "add" within the button action.
Hold up though, found an error here... Testing the two halves of your first formula: ".length() == map(prop("Contacts"), current.prop("Email")).length()" returns a number, but ".length() == map(prop("Contacts"), current.prop("Email")).unique()" doesn't return a number, it just returns the actual text of the email addresses in a long list. Due to this error, this check will always be false, because it's trying to compare a number to text. I checked this by simply assigning 1 single email to the checker relation, and still... no true report despite the number of emails matching the number of unique emails. To fix this (very easy) just add ".length()" after ".unique()" this will give you the NUMBER of unique emails instead of the text. Thank you for the video though! Will keep watching and note if I catch anything else.
No problem!
Fantastic work. Thaks very much!
Thank you! This is the exact problem and solution I need!
Awesome! 😁👌
what can I do when I have a "future" date? I used your formula, but in some rows, I have a date from next year, for example, and the formula result, ir returning me a negative number of months, what should I do to just show 0 for these cases?
You can add an ifs condition that says ifs(date > now(), " ", *add current formula* ). This will make any entries with dates in the future show an empty output or 0 for the formula.
I really appreciate your videos man, keep doing this great work
Thank you man, really appreciate it! 🙏

I wanted to do it manually, because I'l be doing for all months in collumns, so I did it like this: map(prop("Expenses") .filter( current.prop("Date") >= parseDate("2024-10-01") ) .filter( current.prop("Date") <= parseDate("2024-10-31") ) ,current.prop("Amount")) .sum()
Awesome!
Amazing!
Have I missed something? This assumes the database is complete. Any new rows added to the first "people" database won't be associated with the "duplicate audit" database and the whole thing falls over?
You can create a default database template to automatically relate all new entries to the "duplicate audit" datase entry.
You need some umph in your tone. Started yawning a couple minutes in. Other than that GREAT informative and simple. Thank you
Thanks for your feedback! 🙏
Hi, I'm very new to Notion formulas and your video helped me figure out how to solve what I wanted to accomplish. As constructive criticism. I really struggled following what you were saying, your voice tone is very calm and welcoming but you have dips in volume and some words you say are not clear enough. Otherwise the content is really useful. Thank you!
Thanks for your feedback!
is it possible in non member workspace?
Yes, as long as you change the page permissions where anyone can edit the page
Can be be customized to sales? Each time you make a sale, you can click an add button to keep score? Just don’t know how to set it up… Thanks!
Yup, you could use a button to log a sale since Notion buttons are highly versatile. You'd need to customize the database to meet your needs exactly.
Thank you so much for the useful and easy to follow tutorials. I've been putting off learning Notion formulas for weeks watching other tutorials but you made it so easy for beginners to pick up.
By the way, how should I change the formula if I want to sum up entries of a particular month, not the current month?
Thank you!! That is awesome to hear 😁 Here is an example for January i.redd.it/ogpj8ucvtd4c1.png?app_web_view=android
@@NotionWorkflow Thank you so much. Looking forward to more useful content and tutorials from you :)
The formula really does work and this video has definitely been helpful but i think where this formula will really shine is when you say have a weekly report database linked to a tasks database. Here what I'd want to happen is whenever i check a task as done it records the completed date and uses that to add it to the corresponding weekly report. So it automatically populated my weekly report with a list of tasks completed that week. I think I'm going to need an automation function to do that since i cant use the date range (from the weekly report database) in a formula for a property (this formula prop will be something like assign this task to this weekly report) in the tasks database. If you know anyway i can do this with only using formulas it would be great.
You could use a formula property to filter out completed records specific to a current week and capture a snapshot of it somehow via a PDF or some other method. Here is a video explaining how you can filter entries to current week. You'll need to manipulate the formula further to get closer to what you're looking for. ua-cam.com/video/9u_HLcZTkQU/v-deo.html
Thanks for this! This worked for me but it's a bummer that the colors for the status or select type don't propagate through and it's just plain text.
Great! You can use different forms of styling to get what you're looking for. "c", "b", "color_background","color" are some good functions to add some more pizzazz to your outputs. Here's an example: ua-cam.com/video/nFlSIU-JmZo/v-deo.html
Do you know if there's anyway to show the most recent "meeting status" in the client database? Ie if there were 3 meetings for client A and the most recent status was "Okay" i want to show that as a property in the client database.
Great question! I made a video explaining exactly how you can do that here 👇 ua-cam.com/video/abvRwk_upuY/v-deo.html
can we do this without automations? like using formula?
Nope, you can't edit other properties or entries in other databases with Notion formulas.
Explain detailyyy
You can find details on this template near the end of this video: ua-cam.com/video/SesnuQDyd68/v-deo.html
Hello! Thank you for the time you take to help everyone by creating your videos! I wanted to ask you if you know any way possible way to bring a property date (with a date and time range [start-time and also end-time]) from one database into another with a usable date property that you can add to a calendar view? I have been reading a looooooot of forums, watching videos, chatGPT, etc trying to create a Master Calendar in Notion, by bringing multiple databases date (with time start and end) properties but there is no way that I can get this right! There is a fromTimestamp formula that brings me closer, but the problem is that it does not convert the end time (only the start date and time)!!! Please!!! 🙏🏼
Hello! You can use the dateEnd() formula function to extract just the end time and then use the fromTimestamp() formula function to convert any dates that have been converted using the timestamp() formula function. I don't think there is a way to recreate a date range using formula functions though. The closest thing you can do is to use Notion calendar directly and then to link all your databases that way so that you have a "Master Calendar" for all your different databases.
Thanks, I really appreciate this video.
Awesome! 🙌
this is very helpful, thanks so much! One thing though - I was wondering how you could get your 'output' table to dynamically update when new rows are added to the 'Input' database?
Actually - think I sorted it, if the input uses a template that already references 'Output', could that work?
Exactly. You can use a database template to pre-configure a specific relation to Output 👌
@@matthewappleton74 It's a good idea, but I have table with thousands of records... Is there a better way to do it instead of adding them all manually? It would be so much easier if we could reference a database instead of items in a relation. Also, there would be no need for a template and a two-way relatioship.
@@NotionWorkflow It's a good idea, but I have table with thousands of records... Is there a better way to do it instead of adding them all manually? You can bulk edit relations with a table database view by hovering to the top left corner of the view and clicking on the box that appears when you hover there. Depending on your load limit (10,25,50,100), if it's a linked database view, you can change the relations of many different database relations in just a few clicks this way.
Is there any way to hide / avoid weekends?
Unfortunately there isn't. You can in Calendar view though.
Imagine i would Share the Link / or publish the Site. Can people also vote, if there are Not in the Team or workspace, so Random people? Thanks for the Video:)
Great question! If you publish and change the page permissions so that anyone can edit, as long as they have a Notion account, random people can vote and edit the page.
@NotionWorkflow Thank you for sharing. I tried publishing the page as a website, but users need to click the edit button in the upper right corner to edit. Only then can they click the voting button. Is that so? It feels like it’s quite troublesome for users.
Hi there! Could you help me with a formula to sum the cost of sub-subtasks? I was able to come up with this so far: prop("Sub-item").map(current.prop("Sub-item").map(current.prop("Cost"))) - it will show the cost of the sub-subtasks (grandchildren) separated by a comma, but I cannot figure out how to sum it instead. Thank you!
Great question! Here is a video I made that goes over how you can do that. ua-cam.com/video/VLpj-4xEBuE/v-deo.html
