Autosolo in a Tesla Model 3 - Brands Hatch, 27th February 2022
Переглядів 1,2 тис.2 роки тому
On February 27th 2022, Sevenoaks and District Motor Club hosted an Autosolo at Brands Hatch racing circuit. This event attracted the biggest entry of EVs in UK club motorsport to date. 9 Teslas and a Nissan Leaf formed the EV class. Up to now, only big international championships such as Formula E and Extreme E have seen more EVs competing on UK soil. An Autosolo is a great way to start in moto...
Repeater glare and how to fix it (if you dare!)
Переглядів 80 тис.2 роки тому
Update - We wrongly assumed that the redesigned PCB without holes had eliminated the glare, but it doesn't. Only the 149586x-20-D revision parts have eliminated the glare properly. The -C repeaters still have glare which comes from the glue holding the camera onto the PCB transmitting the LED light into the sensor. We'll post a follow up video soon with more details. A recent Tesla software upd...

TEVO Master Cylinder Bracket just released!
Переглядів 2 тис.2 роки тому
Do you want a firmer pedal? Come on, we all want a firmer pedal! A lot of cars suffer from this problem. The brake master cylinder, which transmits the pressure from your foot into the braking system, can flex at the point it's attached to the car's firewall. The answer is a bracket or brace which stops this flexing and gives you a firmer feel when braking hard which in turn gives you better co...
Removing Model 3 Headrests temporarily
Переглядів 68 тис.3 роки тому
Question: Can Tesla Model 3 headrests be removed? Answer: Yes, but always drive with them fitted! Follow up question: Why would you want to do that though? Answer: You may want to remove one temporarily so you can fit a coat/bag hook or camera mount, or maybe do some cleaning or search for an ear ring which fell off and you think might be in the space between the headrest and the seat. Yes, I k...
Shelsley Walsh Summer Spree hill climb in a Tesla Model 3
Переглядів 3,6 тис.3 роки тому
We entered a Model 3 Performance in the Summer Spree hill climb at Shelsley Walsh to see how it would compare to some of the fastest hill climb machinery in the UK. In the end, we did fairly well, setting a new production EV record at the venue and coming 2nd in the 'tin top' run off at the end of the day. We were using standard road tyres at this event. Most of the other powerful ICE cars were...
Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb in a Model 3

Shelsley Walsh is the oldest motorsport venue still running on its original course and we took our Model 3 Performance there to see how it does on the 1000 yard 'country lane' in the middle of some spectacular Worcestershire countryside. Just before this run a 1922 Frazer Nash can be seen setting off, so there's almost 100 years of automotive technology and evolution between us. We'll be back a...

@@TeslaGurus you are totally right. I had it in for 2 hrs and everything wasn’t gone… then removed it and the process went faster. Bad thing is that I still haven’t got the liquid tape so I’ll have to mount it and the remove it again…

Front aero shield was torn/hanging. I think it was from driving through a water covered freeway (going about 35-40miles/hour). Tesla is quoting $520 for repair/replacement of the aero shield... I've had the car since 2021.

Without doing any research I just drilled vertically up into the affected light on the bottom so the water would run out. I used probably 1/8th inch bit. I had a half inch of water in it after a year of ignoring it. It didn't clear the fog right away but now that it's warm weather it's clear and hasn't fogged up since. I didn't need to remove it.

Great job in diagnosing this issue. It's the first real explanation I have seen. I bought a used 2022 Model 3 and the taillight had condensation in it. The dealer I bought it from agreed to install a new taillight and I have not had any problems with condensation forming in it. So, it is possible that Tesla has corrected this manufacturing defect. It appears that is the case. It only makes sense because it would cost Tesla a huge amount of money to repair these under warranty. Again, you did a superb job in diagnosing and fixing this issue. You did an amazing job!

I hate how the 2021 to 2023 Uberturbine wheels and tires look. When I got my 2022 Model 3 Performance, the first thing I did was ordering a new set of wheels and tires from T-Sportline. I got the Aftermarket Arachnid style (TSS 20) 20" staggered 8.5" front and 10" rear. The tires are the very same Michelin Pilot Sport that used to come with the older wheels, but different size for the rear, so the fit is perfect since my front wheels are now 8.5" wide using the 235/35-20 tires and the rear have 275/30-20 tires. I could technically go with 245 in the front and 285 or even 295 in the back to make them real wide which not only looks better and gives more traction but also protects the rim outer border from scratches much better, but it would mean less range and technically a bit of less acceleration. I will be thinking about it later on when it is time to replace my tires (I am about half way with around 10K miles on them). One thing I made sure to select was the tires WITHOUT the foam inside. It has been proven by many people using electronics that the foam does not reduce noise, and if it does, it is so minimal that it is not worth the price and more important, the problems they create when they get a nail, which most tire shops will not patch them and will ask you to buy new ones instead. Just not worth it. If you want less noise, just get some sound deadening foam for your Tesla and be over with it.. or get the new Model 3 Highland that has more noise canceling parts like the glass on the windows. Also, the new wheels I got are a bit lighter so that is another plus. I am very happy with the package I got, the day I decide to sell my Tesla, I will be looking into either a new Model 3 Performance (Ludicrous??) or if I can afford it, a Model S Plaid, and I will be for sure getting again a new set of wheels and tires from T-Sportline, hopefully they will continue to sell the Arachnids, they look amazing, and they are a better deal than stock ones, even for the Model S Plaid, as the package is cheaper than adding the original Arachnid wheels when you order it, and you can sell the stock ones with brand new tires right after just like I di recovering at least half the money. It is just the right option.

don't put your headlamp in the oven, its a terrible way to dry, you need airflow through the headlamp. if you have a shopvac that blows, use an attachment that you can stick inside it and give it 10-15 minutes.

    • @TeslaGurus

Putting the light unit in a very low oven as we describe is no different to the car sitting outside in the sun on a hot day and is the best way to drive moisture out of the assembly through the Gore patch. There isn't an opening on these rear light clusters you can get an airline or hairdryer into and in any case blowing cold air into them isn't going to do a lot if a lot of water has got in.

Nice video. I went to Tesla SC to ask them to check the tail light as it has condensation. They refused saying that it's mentioned in the owner's manual and it's normal. This is the excerpt from the owner's manual: "Condensation in Head or Tail Lights Due to weather changes, humidity levels, or recent exposure to water (such as a car wash), condensation may occasionally accumulate in your vehicle’s head or tail lights. This is normal- as the weather gets warmer and humidity decreases, condensation often disappears on its own. If you notice water buildup within the exterior lenses, or if the condensation affects the visibility of the exterior lights, contact Tesla Service." It's anti-consumer. They want to get rid of their responsibilities.
