K.I.S.S Kayak Fishing
Australia
Приєднався 21 лис 2017
Keep It Simple Stupid is my motto when it comes to kayak fishing and fishing in general. I try to do things as easy as possible.
This channel will contain videos of products I think make kayak fishing easier and my fishing videos of location in Sydney and surrounds, the lure/bait I used and include the wind and tide so new kayak fishers can see the effect weather has on water conditions in that area.
If your not interested in any of that, just come and watch a fisherman enjoying their time on the water.

Correcting a Hobie Passport 10.5
Dropped my rod holder overboard after forgetting to lock it in place. Was impressed with how easy the Hobie Passport 10.5 was to correct. Just a quick video in case you are concerned with correcting the kayak if you fall in. I am 100kg and not very fit, but still did it with ease.

Railblaza transducer and sounder mount overview.

Just a quick video to show the benefits of the Railblaza Transducer mount. It can be removed so you are only left with the 2 railblaza mounts which can be used for other options.
Hobie Passport 10.5 review
Переглядів 16 тис.5 років тому
Here is my review from an average Joe's perspective of the Hobie Passport 10.5. Most other reviews I have seen are from somebody linked to a kayak reseller. I have no links to any business (Which you can tell by some of the shoddy camera work). If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments.
Fishing Port Kembla 06022019

3 rat kings landed (One annoying loss) and 4 tailor 38-45cm. Took some pilchards and squid to Port Kembla outer harbour. Fish wanted nothing to do with the squid and could not get enough of the pilchards. Most were caught with cubed pieces on a paternoster rig with flashers. Could not get a bite on unweighted, but sent them down lower and the action started to happen. Unfortunately a couple of ...

Took my 10 year old out on the water for a quick session. Has only caught legal bream, flathead and Trevally so was very excited to get a legal whiting in the bag. He has caught bigger flathead, but in terms of species size ratio, this was his best fish. True to form, I still suck when it comes to the net.

Fished Lund full squid on a double hook snell rig which was purchased already made. Was only out for 2 hours at the end of the 3rd runway and got this rat king within 15min. Only took the bait when I was moving. One other take for the morning but missed it.

On the water at 6:20am (forgot orb light so had to wait for sunlight) with the tide running out. Landed 2 Kingies and dropped a couple more while another kayak got a few as well. Good time of year to get out there. Using a 5-8kg Savage Gear Salt rod for the 1st fish it felt like it had a lot left in it. 2nd fish I was using my new Savage Gear Stealth 6000 reel which felt smooth with my only com...
Fishing Nepean River Camden 20/12/2017 Carp 62cm
Переглядів 3,3 тис.7 років тому
Put in at Belgenny farm for a quick bass session this morning for an hour but the water was to hot for bass at 29c. Took some sweet corn just in case and drifted it out unweighted for carp. Geez, they are a lot of fun. 62cm version in the kayak on a 2500 Stradic CI4 , 10lb main and 8lb leader 2-6kg rod. Honestly don't know why I bothered with the net in the end, just habit I guess.

Great conditions to take my young fella out for his first kayak fish on the back of the Pro Angler 12 before the heat. Will need to invest in a rear seat as he got a bit sore. Fish were quiet until about 9am when we caught a few bream on the drift between the bridges using nippers. All borderline legal before the 38cm came along. Couldn't get the smile off his face when he got his 30cm Tarwhine.

Not in the kayak I know, but can't turn down the offer of a boat trip. Did some bottom bashing with squid and pilchards and caught about 12 different species of fish. Water was like glass and people would have had no problem taking their kayaks to some of the spots we went around Port Kembla. Deleted the portion of video that shows a grown man crying after a nice flatty jumped out of the net. P...
Watersnake T24 kayak mount on Hobie Pro Angler 12

This is a field test of the official Jarvis Walker kayak mount you can purchase for the Jarvis Walker Watersnake T24 and T18 trolling motor. It is a nice kayak mount for people that want a simple solution for mounting the above 2 trolling motors on the pro angler. Also shows how the motor performs on the pro angler.

You meet some great people Kayak fishing. Unfortunately I do not remember this gentlemans name. But he caught a cracking Kingy trolling live squid around the Port Botany breakwall. Nice bloke gave me his last livey because he had to go to work.

From my trip on the 10/10/2017 I was releasing a bream and after I released the bream I saw something following the bream. It was a couple of Kingies. Felt sorry for the bream because he would have been tired from the fight.

Hey mate, what’s the diameter of the motor mount with 4 screws? Can’t find any info online and wanna know if it will fit before I buy one. Thanks.
Does this need a fuse set up like manual says
how's the speed?
whare are the pros & cons of this kayak?
Are there jet skis in oatley bay
Not so much in. The bay but as soon as you get out into the George’s they are everywhere
I did exactly the same mate downgraded my pa12 for the exact same yak :) can’t wait to use it
They are a great yak. Starting to put on the kg which will test it.
What kit do you recommend for the 50amp circuit breaker or fuse kit?
can you please tell me what battery your using and were the buy it k.i.s.s kyak fishing
Is there any way to lock the motor straight without holding the handle?
Hi, Can I ask what brand wedge mount was used with the railblaza fitting?
Pretty sure it is the Hobie wedge mount and I just ran a longer screw through it so the railblaza mount fitted on top.
@@spoodge6 Thanking you. Watched a few vids such as yours and got myself a passport too.😀
Your bottom mount is around the wrong way
You need to get the prop deeper, I can hear so much cavitation
beautiful glassy day there, nice fish too !!
Thanks
Best kayak is the one you use. I got gear fever with my last boat and it was too difficult to handle. I run a 10.5' now and use it every weekend. Great video. 99% sure this will be my next boat
helped me out , just bought one
Glad I could help
The weakest part of this mount is the where the plastic mount connects to the metal tube. The 2 Phillips head screws screw into the plastic and this is all that is holding back the torque of the motor as the thrust relies to twist the joint. The screws work loose after a very short time and gets worse very quickly. I added 4 more screws and still couldn’t get it a solid joint as the original screws had made the hole in the lattice too large. I purchased a new mount and added 4 screws at the start but it still wasn’t good and with the issue with the thumb screws not being able to tighten enough I gave up and made a different mount. My suggestion, these don’t work well at all - don’t buy.
The best vid I've seen on it! So it doesn't work well without a rudder? Is it manageable?
I always used my rudder to steer and kept the motor straight. It didn’t work well just using motor to steer.
Ru using bait or lures
Both. Pilchards for some and trolled squid soft plastic for others.
Steering wont work as well on kayaks with rudders because the motor is fighting the kayak rudder. I would imagine that the steering is more effective if the kayak does not have a rudder.
Finally thank you bro
Just mounted a T24 on a Pryml Titan and that was very fiddly. There is no easy internal access on that kayak and I had to get the nuts on via the rod holder hole. Not the easiest job I have ever done but got there in the end. Haven't got ours wet yet but looking forward to see how well it goes. Good tip about using the rudder, save me having to learn :) The mount is now a bit different as they have done away with the stainless steel shaft and the top plate is angled. Might help with engine stability a bit - yet to see though.
You need to lower the motor a little bit more to stop the prop cavitating
Do you know what size the rail system is? 1/4" or 1/2"?
Well done! 😁👍🏼
Great Vid! Do you use a circuit breaker? Cheers
No
mate what kind of kayak setup do you have? I am looking for something like you have. Cheers
Oh yeah!! Please name of the kayak I means who makes It and where can I buy It from.
Hobie pro angler 12. They are heaps better now than the one I had. The more popular version is the pro angler 14 in this style.
@@spoodge6 Thanks fro the quick reply I look Into it. cheers
I've seen a nice and cheap mod you might want to try - you use one of those small polythene chopping boards cut down slightly on an angle and clamped onto the shaft above the prop using electrical cable clamps - there are videos here on UA-cam or Amazon sell a proper kit for about $ 60 bucks AUS if you can't be bothered making one. I reckon it would make a huge difference to the steering because all you've got is a tiny fin on the bottom of the watersnake that doesn't add any real steering. Cheers.
Thanks for trying to help. I don’t have this anymore.
What clamp are you talking
It’s a kayak clamp that comes in a pack with the t24. You can buy the t24 with the clamp or there is a separate pack that includes the clamp.
Thank you great value video.
Hope you did't lose too much gear. I have a Viking Profish GT which has a very low seating. Not as comfortable but makes it difficult to lean out far enough to flip.
Mal Drury thanks mate, I lost 1 rod so it could have been worst. It was the change from a pa12 to this that threw me off.
@@spoodge6 Does not look too stable. You should install the Hobie Sidekicks. Easy to install and guarantee you will not flip.
Thinking of buying one - seems they really need to redesign a better clamping system to prevent that motor movement or some sort of tape that doesn't allow the mount to turn so easily in the clamps . Is there any fitted tool supplied to tighten those clamps or is it just down to fingers or pliers ? Many thanks for the practical video on how it works.
Reg Watson no tools provided. If you don’t use your rear rod holders there are some good diy mods online.
@@spoodge6 Thanks I'll take a look.
Good video, very informative. Thanks. Might have convinced me to get one!
Aaron Clausen thanks.
Gets the rolls Royce of kayaks with pedals already for the same price as my house and then spend even more to get a motor...
There’s always secondhand bargains and they’re worth it.
My yak is PA 12, already have Live scope. Tourneys are not all motor approved. A small $169 motor as an assist is worth the $300 cost.
It seems to me to be asking to have no base, drop the vertical tube dropped down the rod holder just adjacent to where you have it mounted. This way you have no drilling, no holes in the kayak and it should be easy to remove.
Timothy Smith the bracket was newly released when I reviewed it. There were a lot of different mounting diy options at the time but I liked the thought of this.
Like garantido
Even if you instructed the little guy,, it was still irresponsible to have that child's hands 👐🏼so close to the propeller 😳
Armando Fernandez no idea what you are talking about. I made this by myself.
Thank you. Good presentation. I just installed my AST 24 on my Hobbie Outback 12 for fishing. I found the mount flimsy and am concerned the torgue might break the connections. i will go slow to start after seeing your startup. I ited a line to the motor in case it down break loose so it don't lose it. I am looking for a way to secure it in one position securely and with use my rudder to steer.
How did you get the bottom bracket and nuts without drilling a hole in kayak?
You have to drill 4 holes to attach the bracket.
K.I.S.S Kayak Fishing how did you access to put the nuts on though once you drilled the four holes I have a old town top water 106 but I don’t have a way to access to put the nuts on the bottom without drilling a hole to get my hand in to put taps on.
The hobie pa12 has 2 access points through the storage hatches to tighten the nuts. You could possibly try self tapping screws but I don't know if they will work for sure.
Hey mate do U get any king this time off the year in Port Kembla ? Very dry around yowie this time off the year no king's only salmon and Pilcher and few trailers ...🙄
b g haven’t been able to get out. Lose motivation to go in winter.
cool vid mate the rat kings go hard always lots of fun, got a few nice kings round port in the past the seals can be a pain at times tho
Granto’s Fishing thanks. Yeah if I see seals I know I’m going to have to peddle a lot more.
What rood holders are that ?
Jonas Zaunet railblaza II
I have a paddle kayak, Do u think it would be alright to fish at foreshore boat ramp if I don’t venture too far? What kind of fish do you normally get ?
sujaydsouz it would be fine. Bream, tailor, flathead
you have the motor set much to high, the propeller is cavitation ,,,,,,so that means the prop is sucking air ,,,,,
ahoy mate, i like the way you say "ALUMINUM"
Did your base plate with the four screws, did the long bolt that goes down the center, did it come with a nut? My was just a screw in bolt. Great video.
Tim Williford just a screw in bolt. That tightens the tension so it doesn’t swivel.
I have the exact same setup and was getting frustrated at the engine kick at top speed. Great suggestion about building up momentum. Will give it a try next when I can get to the water. Thanks.
Great video! What fish were they that you caught?
Tailor. You can fish off the rocks and get to them if you don't have a kayak
*This kayak is wonderful⊳⊳>**share4.photo/HKayak?48** Everything came as expected, when expected. The kayak tracks well and is a joy to paddle.*
It is heavy I can Do with myself
Omar Hassan I lift it with no issues. I don’t gym or do labour work.
am just making sure to raise it over the roof of the car how many pound?
Where can i buy that attachment for the sail port? Thanks for the video.
That's a combination of 2 railblaza products and a ram wedge. The camera boom is as per normal. What goes in the port is a wedge ram mount with ball taken off and a railblaza rail mount port.
@@k.i.s.skayakfishing1946 Thank you for the info.
