Your closing in on the magic 1000 subs keep up the good work! I have just started my channel
Tha KS for the support my friend 😁👍 it's appriciated. Good luck with your channel. It's hard work but worth it 😁
I've been following you for some time, Adie, and you've given me the itch to have a go at watch maintenance / repair. Can you point me to some resources which will show me the gear I'll need and how to get started?
Hi Niall, thanks for the support it is appriciated. So surprisingly you need very little to get going and have a try. Eye loop, tweezers, screwdrivers and somewhere soft to rest the movement. If you look in the description of one of my visa there are some links to give you an idea. They are not affiliated in anyway just ment to give you some guidance. You can probably get all you need for around 50 quid. Get yourself a working movement of eBay for around 20 quid and you should be good to go. There is also Wriatwatch Revival who has kits but I'm not sure on areas he will ship to but worth a look. I've attached a link to a video and his channel. ua-cam.com/video/_9czt3IK-o0/v-deo.htmlsi=eTdFE-kQDx_3Iocf Happy tinkering my friend.
Very interesting and informative 😁👍 thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just found your channel. Very nice work!
Thank you my friend, I appreciate your kind words. 😁👍
Nice watch Adie, long time since I’ve seen that type, proper old 70s style. could you get the scratches out one looks pretty deep 😊
Yea it's possible 😁 may very well do a video on it lol thanks for watching mate. 😁👍👍👍
Oh my goodness. Lid off, Lid on. Wasted exercise, but great work young Jedi
😂😂 thanks for watching my friend it’s appreciated.
The guy from My Retro Watches did fix a watch similar or equal to that. He has a collection of those watches. This watch is interesting. It is the opposite of current digital wathches that use a digital screen to mimic analogue hands.
That I think is where I saw my first one was on Mike's channel 😁 they are a cool watch.
What an unusual-looking watch, Adie I've never seen a jump watch before. It's a shame about the lost footage but these things happen 😥 Looking forward to the next one, keep up the good work!
Thanks my friend 😁 they are an unusual watch but I love them, couldn’t believe I got it for 15 quid though. Alarm watch is in pieces again 😂😂 wish me luck.
These watches are interesting. I have a Lucerne jump watch in my growing queue to repair. It has a Baumgartner BFG 866 pin lever movement (not as nice as the movement you have). Some day I will get to it. Until then, I have your video to watch.
I’m sure that once you get to it you will love it as much as I do this one 😁👍 thanks for watching my friend.
May I ask two questions?. From where do you order your jewels, and are they particular to the movement or do you order them by size?. How do you measure the OD?. This is one thing I have not had the opportunity to do yet and would have no idea where to even find new jewels. Cousins?. Sorry for being a pain.
Hello my friend😁 first thanks for taking the time to watch. And yes somewhere like cousins or Gleaves of London. There is also HS Walsh which is where I got these from. Some jewels can be bought by movement number but tend to be the expensive watches. If your lucky you can measure the OD with a gauge once you have removed it if in one peace or if you have a microscope you can get an eye peace with a rule on it to measure. Believe me I’ve ordered a few wrong sizes lol just need outer diameter and the pivot diameter which are the sizes jewels are sold in. Hope that helps my friend and there’s an email in the description please feel free to message anytime with any questions. 😁👍👍
@@HorologyHubub Thanks very much. That was helpful. Awesome!
Ive been wanting to get my hands on a jump watch also, id like to have one in my collection. Very cool
I honestly thought I’d be paying more than I did for it 😁. Thanks for watching my friend. 👍👍
This "ruler" that makes the spiral cuts on the screw is pretty interesting. How do you keep it sharp? Does it have a proper tool to keep it?
Hello my friend 😁👍👍 The ruler is a watchmakers die tool. I don’t think you can sharpen them but they are basically a hardened thread. Not very expensive thankfully so when that one gets dull I’ll purchase another. I do have an antique one but had bigger threads, and that still works 😁
I know that it is just a simple thing, but the ability to make a screw by yourself is amazing!
It amazed and made my day. Such a simple thing but what joy to make 😁👍
I'd like to see the case refurb and strap....err...Making?.. not something I've seen really.. Thanks in advance if You do film it!.. and No Worries if not Matey!.
Hello my friend 😁👍👍 thanks for watching. Future vid in the pipeline then 😋😋.
Not my style at all...but a total bargain at £15!.
I love it, a quirky movement with the dials and for 15 quid!!😂😂😂 again thanks for watching my friend.
Now you'll be able to do things that C Spinner Watch Restorations can do.
I can only hope 😁 that guy has skills with skills lolol
By the way, this table is nice 22:39.
I made that for the wife 😂😂 she is a space nut
It's funny every time you say "it will need a little bit of persuasion to..." It seems like you are calm outside, but inside you are about to throw it on the wall.
😳 where are you hiding…how do you know 😂😂😂😂😂 deep breaths lol
16:47 "I did googled some new bushes for this, but there are weird size and I can't seem to find any" This motor advertise itself as "universal motor", I don't think it is so universal as it claims😂.
See my trouble can’t you 😂😂 winter too big or too small so had to get bigger and trim them. Have been looking for a company to recondition the motor but no one seems to be interested.
Excellent work on the watch! I have one similar to it - cylinder escapement 8 jewel. Beautiful dial. No maker's mark on the main plate just a curved arrow. Mine has severe wear of the 3rd wheel pivot. The pivot will have to be replaced. Could you repeat what you thought was the maker's name? Thanks! John H.
Hi John, first thanks for taking the time to watch (puns intended 😋) it really is appreciated 😁 I thought it was a Stauffer, Son & Co pocket watch. Found some of that make with similar dials. I have another similar pocket watch with the same issue you have, I’m going to try and re pivot the wheel 😳 wish me luck lol once again thank you my friend 👍👍
@@HorologyHubub Thanks for the information! That looks like the maker.
I’ve got a tiny Sekonda watch similar to this that was my Mother’s. I took it into a watch repair shop yesterday but they said they don’t repair old watches. You are so clever to be able to. I remember when I was a child there was a Russian man who used to repair watches locally. Now it’s all big shops who just want to sell expensive battery operated ones.
I totally agree. To many ships are quick to say no or it would be more than the watches worth. Sometime sentiment and keepsakes are worth a fortune and the small cost of a service is nothing😔 glad you enjoyed the video though and thank you for watching (pun intended😋) why not give your mums watch a go yourself? Maybe get a cheap movement that’s similar from eBay to practice with. Can be serviced with remarkably few tools. 😁
Been a fan of this brand since the 60’s. Great AFFORDABLE watches. That are accurate if that actually matters to you. 😉
Totally agree 😁 they are a pleasure to work on and one of my favourite brands. Thanks for watching my friend. 👍👍
Walk away and give yourself 5 minutes is the best advice in watchmaking. Great video! I have just recorded a video on this exact movement! I did not see yours; if I had, I'd have skipped on to the next one in the pile. Hopefully you don't mind me covering the same ground. If you want a strap to use on one of your videos, give me a shout, and I'll send you one, on me! My info is on my channel page - All the best, Dave
Dave that is an honour 😁 I would love one of your straps but I’ll pay my friend and it will defiantly get a showcase on a video. That being said I know how busy you’ve been so only when you have the time. I’ll message you later in the week if that’s ok 😁 and of course I don’t mind you covering that movement mate 😁 I can’t wait to see it 👍👍👍 thanks again my friend and chat soon 😃
Thank you everyone for the advice and tips, it's very much appreciated. Please keep them coming 👍😁
I restore torsion clocks and I have done a few videos using a graver, very satisfying making things using a graver, if interested search UA-cam for TorsionDell, use Castrol Hyspin 5 spindle oil to lubricate headstock, the gravers you show at the beginning have the wrong handles and way to long as they should sit in the palm of your hand and they are engraver handles , easy to make your own with hardwood dowl and brass tubing, the tool rest needs to be close to the work.
My friend thank you 😁 I wasn't sure on oil for lubricating I had used some 3in1 when I took it apart but I'll be getting some Castrol now 👍 hope.ypu donti.d me asking but how often should they be lubricated? I'm kind of doing it just before each use. I quickly found out about the graver situation lolol I've chipped the point of the diamond shape a couple of times now but it's all learning lol thanks again for the advice and thanks for watching. I'm of to take a look at your vids now 😁👍👍
@@HorologyHubub yes just a drop of oil in front of & back bearing hole it’s designed to flush through to keep the bearings free of contamination, if using all day then mote than once. Thanks for watching my videos hope they help.
Hi, congrats on getting a watchmakers lathe. Those tools you showed at the beginning are your gravers ad they are basically the same that wood turners use only way smaller for the watch trade. Learn how to sharpen them and they’ll serve you well. The other item you were asking about should be a steady rest. It should have two more screws on it like the one at 4 o’clock…one at 8 and one at 12, and you should see holes for those in it. It mounts after your tool rest and before your tail stock, and it’s purpose is to hold longer pieces in place so they don’t bow while you’re turning them Good luck with your new tool, they’re amazing to have available and once you learn how to use them you’ll be able to make almost anything you can imagine for watchmaking. Look up Stefan Eric Pahlow on you tube, he’s into collecting Lorch watchmakers lathes and show a lot of work he does while using them. Good Luck from Boston Ma. USA
Just got to the part where you try to work the lathe…you had the motor running the proper direction in the first place, you just weren’t holding your graver properly. You want the lathe spinning towards you so as you’re turning it’s putting down force on your graver while it’s resting on your tool rest, otherwise you won’t have proper control of your tool. Also make sure your gravers are very sharp. You’re going to want your tool rest set so that your graver is about centerline to the piece you’re working on. Good luck again, and so far you’ve done a great job of restoring your lathe. Oh also I almost forgot, don’t mess to much with your tool rest, just give it a bit of oil and work it back and forth a bit and use it like that
My friend, thank you so much. What a wealth of information 😁 I will definitely check out that channel and thank you for answering a good few questions I had 👍👍 more importantly thank you for taking the time to watch the video, it's appriciated 👍
Outstanding 👍The Naked Watchmaker 👍 Joe is great🫡 Thanks for your inspiration 🙏 Good Fortunes and Great Successes 🤝
Thank you for watching my friend and thank you for the wonderful comments. 😁👍👍
Whatever next? This was great.
Thanks Niall my friend 😁👍 hopefully lots more projects with the lathe to come.
Well done, Adie That was great to see you're making good progress with the lathe 👍 I think the problem with the motor not reversing is that it needs a third wire for the commutator which is common for brushed motors, but I could be wrong 😆 Anyway, I love the screw, it requires framing 🤣Can't wait to see the next watch video as well. Keep up the good work my friend!
Ahhh electrics isn’t a strong point of mine 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watching mate speak soon 😁👍👍👍
Think it might be a center steady and the tools with mushroom handles might be small carving/turning tools
I think they are more for wood turning or hand engraving but they seem to do what I want them too 🤣 just need to learn to use it now 😁 thanks for watching mate 👍👍
The Cyma WWW definitely doesn't use this movement. It uses the Cyma caliber 234, an entirely different movement.
Ahhhh an article on the interwebs I read lead me to believe…. Google🙄 thanks for the correction and for watching 😁👍👍
In some parts of the video where you went quiet for awhile, I don't know if I could hear your stomach making noises or mine LOL
🤣🤣 could very well be mine. Thanks for watching my friend 👍👍😁
This was an awesome introduction to your channel as I'm restoring my great grandmothers pocket watch with an identical looking movement. Do you by any chance still have the donor movement that was to small? If so I would very likely be interested in taking it of your hands.
Hi thanks for taking the time to watch 😁 it’s appreciated 👍 unfortunately I already sold it 😔 sorry about that. Good luck with your own restoration 😁👍👍
@@HorologyHubub worth a shot 😅 But thanks again. This one will be seen quite a few times for the assembly, but there's a lot of good content, so I really appreciate you spending the time 👌
Its straps match nicely with the watche itself.
I've never seen springs in the bezels. First time.
There is sometimes a small ball bearing also 😜 tricky little things lol
I like the texture of this dial. Is there any specific name to that kind of texture?
Thanks for watching my friend and hope your well. I may be wrong but I think it’s called a sunburst effect, it’s very subtle.
Great video. I think we've all had those moments of regret where we realise the improvised technique we were using was indeed a bad idea as that niggling thought wsa telling us. Love seeing these inexpensive watches get another lease on life as i've got a few myself in diabolical states. You've inspired me to dig one out the next time the bench is clear.
Thank you for the awesome comments and for taking the time to watch my friend😁. Really must learn to listen to that inner, wiser voice 🤣🤣. Happy tinkering 👍👍
Hi great video, Just wondering if you can offer some advice to me, I am just about finished a cylinder movement very same as yours, im stuck with the keyless works, the setting lever thing that the pin pushes wont align correctly, if anyone thinks they can offer some advice please let me know and i can send photos or a video of the movement. thanks
Thanks for taking the time to watch my friend it’s appreciated. 👍👍 email me some pictures and a video if it will allow. horologyhubub@gmail.com
Another great video.

I have watched and a Corvette watch….now I need the Corvette 🤣🤣 thanks for watching my friend. 👍👍
Nice Job. to answer the question on Corvette, There's a Man in the UK that has a youtube channel called: Gentlemen's Watch Services. The video titled: Servicing a mystery watch. Who made it? Is it any good? He talks while servicing Corvette about a Parent company called Avia that marketed a whole list of watches that he scroll's while doing what you did. He's got a good sense of humor to boot. ua-cam.com/video/hI5CmYdt7SY/v-deo.html
One of my favourite channels 😁 I love his narration. I must have missed that one. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Well done, Adie another great video and a great result at the end 👍Did I hear a slight grown when that spring went flying, if so, that's quite restraint from what usually comes from me when things go flying 🤣
UA-cam doesn’t like the colourful language that normally comes out 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watching mate
To my knowlege it has nothing to do with the car but is a sub brand of one the swiss company's of the day . Nice job & great results , re; the mainspring winders have a look at A-x you can pick up a half decent set for around 30 quid that do the job .
Everything I searched linked back to the car 🤣 but I had a feeling it was nothing to do with them but couldn’t be sure as there is almost no info on the Corvette watch brand. Thank you for watching my friend. 😁👍 I have a cheap set of mainspring winders but there as much use a butter tea pot. 🤣🤣 will take a look at Ali though 👍
Wow
EXCELLENT video! Yes, I love the Nekkid Watchmaker too. Marshal at Wristwatch revival was the one I saw first. I was hooked! So, I have been buying up all the tools and to many watches to practice on. I will be setting up my space this weekend and then will get started. Again... Nice job!
Awesome 😁 you won’t regret it ….well maybe spending so much of your hard earned money on tools and watches but it definitely very rewarding. Good luck my friend and keep me posted on your adventures. 😁👍👍👍
Like the title of the video!
Thank you 😁👍
Starting watching your video now.
Hope you enjoyed it my friend.
Yes I was watching again :) - at 33.30, has someone drilled holes in that wheel? I assume to alter how it runs.
