Incorrectly Installed Fans? Refitting fans in in my Kenwood TS-590SG
Переглядів 10 тис.7 років тому
My Kenwood TS-590SG was getting very hot when used in a SSB contest. Hot air was exiting from the underside rather from the rear. At the time Kenwood had not received any other reports. Now seems a lot of the SG versions have the fans installed backwards? Easy to correct.

Very disturbing playing music in the background will trying to explain the issue, I guess you have never done two many video's to understand what is the correct way. I would have liked to watched the video, but poor judgment on you part.

You don't need to take anything off to check fan orientation. Just shine a flashlight through the bottom vent holes. If you can see the fan labels facing the front of the radio, they're backwards.

Mike Thanks for Your Kenwood TS590SG Reversed Fans Video. I was lazy HiHi and hooked up a big dummy load and keyed it up on CW for a few minutes until the fans kicked on; then placed tissue paper under the front air intake and it stuck to the intake...Praise the Lord my fans were correctly installed. Got mine in Feb of 2015. Best of 73 Mike !! Lawrence VA7LTX

This must be sorted out by now.........the brochure photo shows the fan HUBS are forward, and the 'scoup' of the fan blades clearly grab air running COUNTER clockwise....

Wood actually is better for preventing static buildup than many other surfaces. An anti-static mat would be ideal but wood is fine.

Thanks Mike for the excellent detailed video. Yep, mine (B66......) were in backwards :-( But, thanks to your video I was able to correct the problem. As I understand it if you have a 590SG with serial numbers with B58 up through B67 there is a good chance your fans are in backwards. 73's

I have a 3 ele from Innovantennas for 24MHz. So far, after five years of permanent exposure to extremely high winds (85mph gusts thus far) and sea air, the antenna looks almost as new and has never caused a problem. More than that, the owner of Innovantennas is honest and reliable.

also thanks for the q. roughly about 40mins from hitching up trailer from farm and setting up with the 3 element beam to being on air. Only have to tow 500m or so. Everything is left in its longest lengths and the rotatar is left on and just have the tower at a slight angle when moving it. 73 de Mike M0ZDZ G7Y
