Upgrade Your Bambu Lab X1 Carbon: Interior Lighting Transformation
Mine is so loud!!! I built one from scratch and used the 4028, 24V fans. I took the printer apart and hard wired it to the built in 24V power supply. The fans by themselves are pretty quiet, but when I add the charcoal and HEPA, the thing is obnoxious. I guess it is better than breathing poison, but has anybody else experienced a loud Bento Box?
If you're prints too high You're going to rip that cable guide out and damage your cord
Thought you were gonna 3D print a poop bucket for a outdoor toilet truth be told, then I realized
Haha

Yeah.. You're gonna have to use PCB Way.. Or... and this might be a crazy thought.... You could put the printer in an enclosure...
You totally could
@RadDadsPrintLab I've ordered an A1 Mini. It'll fit perfectly in the enclosure I got for the defective Ender 3 V3 SE.
This is a micro bot
huh?
makerworld.com/en/models/376191?from=search#profileId-463208
I can't find the bins that lock together with pins. Can you post a link? I already checked your collections and searched pintables and makerworld. Thanks!
Why do all these elevated spool holders have to be rear facing.. If you have the printer in an enclosure, they are just useless..
Its one of my biggest complaints so far. Its great space saving, but I do wish it was easier to get to the spools on the back.
@@RadDadsPrintLab Yeah. I don't even have an A1 mini yet. Waiting for a reply from the store about refunding my Ender 3 V3 SE so I can get it. I do not need another defective creality product taking up space and not letting me print. Which is why I want the A1 mini as a starter now
To super glue magnets down without getting superglue all over your fingers, you've actually got a couple of different options. 1st: Use a steel or iron rod (like the back end of a drill bit) to hold the magnet and push it into the hole. You'll want a wipe handy to wipe the excess superglue off of the rod so it doesn't get build up Or, 2nd: I've discovered you can use two magnets of half thickness. Press one in, apply glue over the top and then drop the other magnet into the hole: it will flip the right way, and should self align. Ref: I've been magnetizing tons of WH40K minis. So many fiddly bits...

Any thoughts on how this would with a resin printer?
I imagine it would help, but I honestly have no experience with resin printing.
I built a $2000 Aquila X2 my first 3d printer and nothing of the original remains. I bought a used Monoprice select I3. It finally took a crap and I dont feel like spending the money to get it all fixed up. the only reason I bought it was to fix my larger 400x400x500 custom printer. I probably will buy this as a good backup printer. I only need enough build plate volume for mounts, hot end holders, bed tensioner handles, etc. but if it can print other things effeciently. then I am definetly game. nice video Rad Dad. I probably will pick up one of these bambu lab A1 mini's
Thanks! 400x400x500 is a huge build volume!
Where is the link to the ruler?
makerworld.com/en/models/856330#profileId-805694
Man, you gotta get the heat set insert tip for your soldering iron. Makes this process so much better.
I'll have to check that out!
My thoughts are the same. I am positive that the hygrometer is not reading the AMS. However, I am compensating by trusting that the desiccant is doing its job in the AMS and only using the hygrometer to give me an indication that moisture has reached the desiccant.
Dang I'd love to print the Pokeball! Unfortunately I didn't order my A1 with the AMS combo, so I'll have to print white and hand paint it myself :')
I might have linked the wrong one in the description. This one doesnt require the AMS makerworld.com/en/models/119346#profileId-128369
CANNOT PRINT ANYTHING FROM 3MF FILES FROM MAKER WORLD ... DO I NEED TO MODIFIED THE 3MF FILE TO MAKE THEM WORK? I SELECT AC1 MINI THEN DOWNLOAD ...
how did you get that pokeball, it looks sick, I have the A1 mini and I'm wondering if I can do this
You totally can, it’s super easy to do . makerworld.com/en/models/648914#profileId-575253 Here’s the video I featured it in also 5 Free Upgrades For Your Bambu Lab A1! ua-cam.com/video/jfSGcJeGPeo/v-deo.html
I first started out using a close relative’s Flashforge M4 Pro & M5 Pro Mini they taught me how to use & lets me use.
When it pooped at 0:56 I could hear the sound in my head
Suggestion - Time codes! Makes finding specific items you mentioned easy to locate after watching the video Thanks!
Great hypothesis and a valid concern. I did go ahead and printed this and installed the hygrometer in the print block and another just sitting in the AMS away from the desiccant. Both are reading the same +- 1%. So it might not be a concern. Currently, mine is holding at 10% inside the AMS and it is 45% outside. Does a great job. YMMV
Awsome!
first time viewer here. U sure are a rad dad
Love when people think stereo or whatever you use, which mostly worked, but when you were trying to show noise, it all went to my mostly deaf ear so showed me personally nothing and others, well nothing really. No comparisons I appreciate the video but all I heard was high pitches noises in that deaf ear. Idk how to fix it. I just know i just found you and don’t care enough to make me fit you
Thanks for the feedback, Honestly when ever you run into that, its was most likely just an accident. Unfortunately when switching between cameras the editing software doesnt always import the audio in the same.
@ respectfully, it may have been something on me since I came alive again today, similar issue. I would say apologies for not knowing who’s the issue.
Please tell me where I can buy printer for $339? On their site it is listed at $529. as it is om Amazon.
529 comes with the ams, it’s 339 for the one without
us.store.bambulab.com/products/a1?variant=41583355199624&skr=yes
@@MTBRadDad With AMS it’s $749.00!
@@RadDadsPrintLab Thanks. I figured that out and ordered one. Why the huge price difference?
No it's not its 339 on there site for weeks
Built the wirelessly powered version for it's ease of use and clean look but the 24V fans were always intermittent. Boosted voltage with step-up converter and still couldn't get the fans to stay fired up. Tried a couple of different wireless receivers and still no joy (many others had similar issues but got it to work with different receiver but alas no luck for me). Gave up on wireless and went the hardwired route using the through hole just forward of the box along the sidewall. Designed a facade to attach to the bento box to hide the wires. Wired in parallel to a 24V power supply using some wagos and voila, no more issues. Going to design and print a housing for the power supply and add a rocker switch for convenience. Ended up being much simpler than I thought it would, albeit not as cool.
I thought about trying to hook it up to a battery source, but decided it would be easier to just try and run the wires through the gap in the door. Thanks for Sharing!
Thanks for sharing these tips. I have noticed my cords getting tangled and causing issues. My fix wasn't as elegant so I'll try the top loading spool option.
What was your first printer?
Hopefully this one!!
@@matthewmann6502 Well its definitely a great option for a first one!
I got the a1 mini since I dont need the big print surface from the a1
the first print ive actually done stuff on (it was at school), was the ankermake m5, but I dont currently own any printer and only had moderate access to the printer at school :) *subscribed*
First printer was the P1S, then A1 then A1 Mini (for the wife), I have ordered 2 more P1S machines as I do a fair bit of ABS and Carbon. Did you name your other printers in the The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy theme ? I name mine after "Matrix" characters ?
Thanks for the video! Just ordered LED-lights and printing the frame now!
Glad you enjoyed it!
3 months ago there was a firmware issue causing leveling issues and excessive purging. This was fixed a couple of weeks later. Right now, this machine is in a class of its own for sure and if you have one you would only replace it when it breaks or when you need to print bigger parts.
I Picked the Mini up in august so that sounds about right!
What brad pla and is it matte?
If I recall Correctly, I printed it in Sunlu PLA Black ( Non Matte)
PTFE release tool link ?
Whoops! Here it is, I also added it to the video description. makerworld.com/en/models/392785#profileId-293912
@@RadDadsPrintLab Thanks
can you print an object that doesn't leave a flat bottom or is that with all 3d printers
Well, its a bit of a complicated answer. You could, but it most likely would require supports.
@@RadDadsPrintLab how do you add supports
I'm trying to get into the 3d printing hobby, I was looking at a bunch of videos, and most people said to start out with the creality Ender 3 V3 KE (ridiculous name). i actually picked it up this Thursday, I set it up the same day. I kept getting a 2194 error ( cough cough creality 🙄)and at that point, I just returned it. So now I'm waiting for my bambu lab A1 mini to come and hoping it works. 😂
I feel like I should get an ender just to see how good I really have it 😂. Enjoy your a1 mini, you’ll be up and printing really quick .
I've been using Wham Bam since my first 3D printer; the Monoprice Delta Pro - where Michael at Teaching Tech recommended it. I was so impressed that it was a mainstay on my other printers too, and now also with my two BL P1S'es.
Yeah, I stil love this build plate.
I want to print the top mount but now I’m curious how petg will work.
I think i printed mine in PETG-HF . Im trying to rack my brain to confirm that. But I think PETG would be fine
Is PETG-HF stronger or better in some way?
@@jasonhagen Easier to print mostly
I use the Bambu Lab Home Assistant integration to notify me when the desiccant in my AMS's needs changing.
thats amazing haha
If the hygrometer reading starts to rise, it shows how wet the dessicant is, so when it rises above 45% its time to dry your dessicant.
Whats the power supply you use for the bento box? Trying to decide between wiring to the PSU or an external power supply.
I went thru my junk drawer and found one. Personally I didnt like the idea of wiring to the PSU. One option you can do is getting a Panda Branch from Big Tree Tech if you use 5v fans. biqu.equipment/products/bigtreetech-panda-branch-v1-0
I don’t deal with the bouncing beads. I bought Wisedry in 20g packets and use them. They seem to do well enough and are also easy enough to recharge in the microwave.
Just got my 10 year old one for Christmas...I think i will be using it probably more than him lol he will probably print fidgets and toys so I'm not worried about the size
They are gonna love it! My 9 year old is toying around on tinkercad already, These skills are going to set them up great as they get older
@@RadDadsPrintLabHow hard is it to learn how to use? (for someone relatively new to 3D printing for about 5 months)
I have the rectangle hygrometer version. This one unfortunately leaks the dessicant beads all around and even inside the hygrometer itself as there is no separation between the hygrometer chamber and dessicant chamber. And yes, it skews the readings. My solution was using the middle box just as a holder for hygrometer and I only use two more boxes next to the middle one. It is enough to keep my AMS sub 10% for weeks or even few months.
I was wondering if you printed the cable holders at the standard ratio or the 102.5% I'm reading about to counter the increased tube thickness in the newer models? Also was this the small or large size? Cheers.
I just printed the default print profile if i recall correctly
Where did you get the articulating dinosaur
flexi factory
I think I will just omit the dessicant from the unit with the hygrometer.
I Started with ToyBox a year ago .. Some one gave me a Ender 3 pro a week ago .. i already wana get something newer cuz i hate leveling the bed every time ..
I can totally understand that, for what its worth. Im actually working on the review of the bigger A1 at the moment. Its basically the same as the A1 mini, but just with a bigger build plate.
I know how are it feels on. Last Week the same with my A1.
So I got the A1 with AMS to replace my Neptune 3 pro and it's the best printer I have ever used and as I print a lot of stuff for youtube videos etc I decided to order the A1 mini as a second printer as 90% of the work I do will fit its smaller bed. For me in the UK the A1 mini is £150 so I ordered it 2 days ago and can't wait to get it. Great review by the way 👍
