Introduction To This Channel
Переглядів 2033 роки тому
Hey party people. My name is Dan and I'm an urban gardener. For years, I posted my jamz on Instagram ( gardengraffiti btw), but am FINALLY gonna make a youtube channel. So many folks ask me questions and I want to be able to help as MANY people as I can. :)
Do you need the oil? Also do you need to burn that dark or can you put a lighter burn and not sand off char?
You can!
Any reason to buy and use a torch and I'm in.
QUE THE METAL!!!
Hey dude! These videos are great, well done, and informative. Good editing.
Good stuff. Well done video
Hey sad to see you don’t do videos much more good info very clear and to be frank refreshing that the garden video wasn’t brought to me by a Christian homesteader with twelve children. (Not that it’s bad live your life just gets old)
Awesome!!!
Yaki Sugi!! Nice work!
Totally Rad video bro!
But. . .isn't hemlock, your wood of choice, in and of itself poisonous?
I did not find Cropswap on Apple Store anymore, any updates ? Any other options?
No straw? Don’t forget to feed them initially. They need LOTS of nitrogen and water.
Hey super party friends. Wanted to ADD one more bit of recent information for this video: You can TORCH your wood WAYYYYYY longer than I did in my video. On my newer beds, I actually torched it far longer and it scratched off just the same (and it probably did a better job forming a better barrier with longer burning!). So yea. Just wanted to add that. I burned SUUUUUPER thick boards (2 inches!) so you're not going to totally singe the thing if you do it for longer. Love you all and BEST of luck to ya! This technique is really awesome and helpful and makes your beds purdy. :)
Don’t use black walnut.
Totally. Thank you for mentioning that Jim! You are correct! I do wonder though if black walnut would be okay if it was suuuuuper broken down and dead. I probably still wouldn't chance it, but I think all the problematic resigns might not be an issue...
Is pine wood ok to use or will that be to acidic? I actually did this for my 5 raised beds this winter I got started. Only I used wood layers, fallen leaves, compost, some grass clippings, some kitchen scraps, accept for what the raccoons took out 😂 and then bags of soil. I was wondering, you had 4 or 5 different types of bags you put in your top soil. What were they? Also, what’s the white pipe for? 😉 Great seeing you again.
@@DawnHarmanART_PHOTO Hey Dawn! As long as the pine wood is realllllly old and dead, it should be fine.
@@gardengraffiti thank you.
@@gardengraffiti I've heard conflicting opinions on it.
Just sharing my experience with smaller torches than 500,000 BTU. They didn’t work well for wood burning. Took too long to burn a section so go with the size mentioned in this video.
Thank you my friend! Great perspective to have. Yea. Powerful torches make it wayyyy easier
Great video!! I’m currently trying to find the best spot in my yard, but I’m a little worried because it looks like I’ll have to make raises beds in a row by the road. I don’t live in an HOA, but I have a corner lot with two roads that touch my property so I don’t want to upset my neighbors.
Traditionally, Japan used timber framing over masonry because they live on a convergent seismic plate, which causes severe earthquakes.
Douglas fir is slightly rot resistant, and usually available around the same price as other framing lumber such as southern yellow pine or hemlock for. However, cypress wood on its own tends to be highly rot resistant, but much more expensive.
Rad. Thanks Thomas. Yea. I used Hemlock just cause it's native (and wayyyy less expensive) where I live. But great note my friend and THANK YOU!
You are hilarious my good sir
And handsome. Really important to note that too ;) (I'm joking. Thank you for the comment and suuuuper good luck with your gardening jamz)
Who knew weird Al has a green thumb
Have you seen the new Weird Al biopic "Weird?" It's actually incredible. HIGHLY recommend.
Daniel I miss your UA-cam videos. I’ve followed you for years and now I haven’t seen you for 9 months. Anymore gardening videos in our immediate future? I know it’s winter but… 😊
Hey sister! Great to hear from ya. Yes. Just released one and have a bunch planned for the spring and summer. Working on one now actually!
What’s the purpose of the 4x4’s? Is that for aesthetics, durability, longevity? Also, MUCH better music choice. Thanks a million👍🏾!
Wait, are you saying you DON'T like the music?
@@gardengraffiti absolutely not. Love the music in this video. That heavy metal stuff in the other video I didn’t particularly care for.
How are these holding up
Awesome!
Brilliant video, thanks you for the information. Extremely helpful👍🏾
Awwwwe thank you Damien!
Why not linseed oil?
Linseed is fine too. No rule against it. I just used raw Tung cause I had it.
Very cool!
Metal = move to next video Soul destroying
Thank you grandpa. Next you should tell me to cut my hair and stop smoking dope! I'm just messin with ya. :) Thank you for your feedback. Have a good one.
My soul is ok, and i'm listening metal everyday thx bro
@@thibright2633 Hahaha
I have been looking for videos that show this process and this is the best one I've come across so far.
Awwwwwe shucks. Thank you. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Great video!
Thanks!
Awesome build, Dan! Great on-screen personality and music choice, too. Keep it up and your channel will grow fast!
Thank you the most. I LOVE your channel and have got a bunch of solid info from it!
@@gardengraffiti gosh, thanks man!
glad to see another video from you! Beautiful raised bed build there
More to come!
More metal bands plz
Tell that to MMC CROWNUS! He apparently didn't like it!
The intro is killer. Love the video
Hey I just discovered this channel and your style is often. I hope you get this notification and come back to make more videos. About this video, have you done the burnt wood treatment before? Curious how many years it lasts because most videos and blogs I see just mention that it protects against deterioration.
Do you. I just started doing it so I will have to get back to you on that. I think it also kind of depends on the wood you use. I used Hemlock but cedar would’ve been better. Also check it out. New video just posted!
No Poop! Yeah!
LOVE IT!
Thanks dude. Hope you've been well. I just moved to New Hampshire if you ever wanna roll out to New England. Ya always have a place to stay.
You're in New Hampshire now???!!! That explains a lot...
hahaha. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Live free or die!!!?
@@gardengraffiti So you're living free now? Carson was death?
The OG returns! Great to see you going hard on YT Dan :)
