      @@Fishingwithfaithoutdoors23 sometimes thats all that bites around here. Most of the places i fish are shallow and when summer gets into full swing the big fish go lay down and wont bite. I used to bass fish all the time but with the little ones i had to adapt to keep their interest. I like to catch bluegill the size of my hand and realised one day that those little ones are bigger than their hand so to the kids those small ones are huge to them. • @dancegod1691
      @dancegod1691 4 години тому

      It’s almost too effective. I use a long rod and catch them right off the bank almost instantly by setting it on the top. Or cast and reel pretty slow. The fish want to see it move a little but they love an easy snack, no need to move it that fast like a jig. Also if you want to release them you can push the barb in with pliers to make the hook pop out without hurting the fish as much.

    • @byhisgracefishing
      @byhisgracefishing 3 години тому

      @@dancegod1691 I thought about bending the barb on these the next time i use them. I use a collapsible 10 foot fiberglass pole sometimes. @@raygissendanner1476 The one i was using is a silverstream sold at walmart. Eagle claw makes some but the ones around me are to big. I do know that Bett's makes their own for use with their poppers they would probably be the best. My only advice is if you use this method make sure to keep as much line as you can between the popper and the bobber. Some would think the bobber would scare the fish away but as it pops with the popper it attracts fish and they see the fly.

    Some nice fish in this one! I have used forcepts for about 40 years to take out fish hooks. They are so much easier than even thinner nosed pliers. I also use 6 lb. braid (1.5 lb. mono equivalent as far as line diameter goes) to get me casting distance. There are pros and cons. With no stretch, you do lose more fish. I usually use 4 lb. - 10 lb mono leaders. (Probably would use my 2 lb. Trilene Sensation for those mini magnets. I have some, but wasn't sold on those really small hooks. I found the fish were really swallowing them pretty deeply. Went back to the regular size magnets and more recently LarvaZ's and those TM's on those i_fish jig heads.) Usually no more than 18 inches. As long as you have a reel with smooth drag, that really helps a lot. I do set my drag very light to help compensate for the no stretch braid. Something you might want to try if you have never done so. You seem to have some really productive fishing spots. I wish I was as fortunate. Thank you for sharing. Blessings!

      @@chipseiler1766 I am a fan of ultralight braid, i have started using 4lb braid myself with a 6 to 8 lb leader because it gives me a little stretch and helps with line break when the occasional bass or cat takes the bait. I do use two pound mono on the pole I throw the mini magnets with and for some reason that bass pro microlite will out cast all of my other ultralight setups. These spots are good at times but have been over fished now because of greedy people. They dont believe in take what you need and leave the rest to breed, they want them all. Thank you for the comment God bless my friend and i have also started using forcepts on these small fish.

      Thank you for the comment. I love to catch panfish. I used to just bass fish but it got boring and i gave up fishing for years. When i decided to try crappie fishing i found out everything i had tackel wise was to extreme. That all changed one day when i was catfishing and reeled in a ultralight setup someone lost overboard. I still use it in some of these videos. And when i started fishing for crappie it opened up a whole new world for me. Now i fish on a whole new level. And still catch those big fish while doing ultralight fishing. And as far as a fight a 1 pound shellcracker on a ultralight will out fight a 5 pound bass any day. Thank you for the comment. God bless my friend.

    Get yourself a hook disgorger… or make one. It’s basically just a stick with a small “Y” on the end. Works very well for those deep hooks. I cut the head off of a cheap toothbrush, thin out the end a bit, and cut a slit on the tip with a Dremel cutting wheel. Been doing this for nearly 40 yrs. Every tackle box or fly bag of mine has one. Worth its weight in gold.

      Thank you for the information, i will look into that because on these small baits they swallow it alot. Thank you and God bless my friend.

    I have that bait in the jar. Where did you get the fry in the pack? It looks a lot less messy than the jar..

      I purchases it direct from berkley. I would like to try it in the jar. These packs of fry are made of rubber instead of the gulp material. Thank you for the comment. God bless my friend.

    1st I’ve heard of this bait. Going to check them out. What is the new rod you are using?

      This is a diawa proceyon. It is a good rod but has a very soft tip which makes me afraid it will snap with one of these bigger fish. Thank you for the comment. God bless my friend.

    Im not sure if you’ve checked them out before I’m pretty sure u have if you do alot of ultralight but mule fishing is a great company for ultra light tackle no matter where I go I preach mule fishing I love that company, fish anything is the UA-camr who runs it, his lures are meant to catch any thing from blue gill to bass even works in salt water applications. Extremely durable plastics i recommend the donkey tail jr, horse fly and the burrow bug. Get some size 1/64 and 1/32 ounce jigs and boom perfect

    I love that you give thanks after each fish caught. I’m impressed how far you are casting that small jig head.
