HIS 396 Yanis Varofakus Guest Lecture Part 1
Thank you for uploading. Very informative. Lucky class to have Stephanie and Mark!
mark needs to do a series of lectures on economics and post them online. his ability to translate concepts that only the heavily vaccinated can understand into plain english is first rate.
Starts at 6:51
Miners, writ large, should do very well in any Green Transition. Though coal is condemned, and may be eventually abandoned as a power source, many other materials will be needed in vast quantities to provide for electrification. If there were to be some set of technical breakthroughs of sufficient magnitude to make solar generation north of 45 degrees latitude carbon neutral, an increased supply of mined materials would be required to construct the needed power generation, transfer, and storage capacity. Wind and tide generation of electricity, though not facing Solar’s diurnal-nocturnal periodicity challenge, still requires increased power storage and transmission infrastructure.
Yep, you can check out the guest lecture Dr James Galbraith gave in the class (also on my channel) for more about exactly what you've just mentioned!
If p lying there was some dam solutions.
Who are all those people in funny masks?
I think one of them is Stephanie Kelton.
Your mom.
First words start at 8:41, the lecture begins at 10:30.
One problem capitalists face is they have to sell their goods and services, this is hard to do if you've ever tried selling something online. Then again, I guess they can hire someone to do that, in which case, the brand becomes important, otherwise the sales people could just start their own companies.
Again, absolutely brilliant. Hundreds of years of essential econ theory summarized and explained in an hour (or 40 mins at 2x).
Is the woman Stephanie Kelton?
Yes she is! She was the lecturer for HIS 396 at Stony Brook in the Spring 2022 semester.
