Both sound great. 170 sounds more like Dime to me but the 170II isnt as scooped so will cut better. It actually kinda sounds like the difference in GT75 speakers (170) and Vintage 30s (170II) haha

What gives that "compressed" tone? i dont know how to explain.. I have a randall rg1503 with a mxr 6 band. The distortion is very crunchy and maybe too much as well. What should i add to get a better Dimebag tone? Thanks, your tone Is perfect🙏

pretty dam good man...i wish i could afford to get the gear tricks for those tones... i got that cab and its flubby to me... i got 6505 ii & mt15.. both awesome i just have to dial bass down with that cab i also run my peavey 212c through them it just lights everything up...v30 and g12t75 with zakk chourus and sd1 and mxr 6 band and rowin noise gate....its sweet...but not your tones

Does your 170i amplifier have the clean sound error along with the overdrive when the overdrive gain goes above 7?

I´m not that familiar with Dimebag but for sure liked the duncan way better, sounds crunchier more vibrant. Didn´t like whooshy palm mutes the B&B produce.

Yo one more thing, I saw a Randall rx412 available near me for a good price, I’ve heard mixed things about them, but it sounds amazing in your Dime tones. Would you recommend the cab overall?

Hey man, I’ve been following your Dimebag rig, just got a quick question. I have an RG75, which has a contour knob, I’ve heard that the gain voicing on the Century 170 acts like a one, but I’m not 100%. Do you find that the knob act as an overall scoop/boost control, or does it do something else?

Hey Kyle, how’s it going man hope things are going good. I just recently picked up an amp that I couldn’t really find any info about on the Randall Legacy manual page but when I finally did find it, it was on the same page as the Century 170 Mark two the Amp I have is a Century 500 combo, and apparently it’s the combo version of the 170 and the controller all the same instead of reading right to left. It reads left to right so my input and power are on opposite sides of yours but they’re the same amp just a combo version of it you know how Randall does, they have a lot of combo versions of the heads just with backwards control layout because of how they mount the chassis in the combo. But I was wondering If you could help a brother out and trying to get a decent tone to play along with the vulgar album. I’m rocking a pq3 clone unfortunately, cannot afford the pq4 clone being disabled 😂 but was wondering if you could what you’re amp and eq and pq settings so I could try and get close cause you’re tone is fuckin phenomenal brother. Like I’m sure even Grady would be impressed with it if he heard it.

Bro, you already have the most close dimebag tone ever!!!, being a tone freak all my life, certanly , dime have mid , but ,i think he put more in certain frequencies of mid and the cut other, shape is tone( 6 band/ furman eq) ,cheers !!!🔥🔥

Interesting that the Aphex 104 would into the front of the amp. I feel like that's not really going to do anything to the sound unless it was in the fx loop. Great Vid!

People have the misconception that Dime scooped his mids. His tone has tons of low mids mixed with tons of gain

Hey. It would've been great if you offered short sound samples of quad tracking vs 3 tracking with some drums and bass. I've only done 3 tracking once and it sounded great until I was trying to mix the whole album. There were problems with the vocals and guitars competing for space so I never did it again, but maybe I should try it again. One thing that I would assume worked great with 3 tracks of guitars [one in the center], would've been the mono compatibility issues. My mixes have no guitars when listening in mono. I kind of don't care about mono, but if my mix worked better in mono, I wouldn't mind :D

I was so thrilled to see you made another dime video. As someone who is deep into the dime tone chasing world, owning all that same vintage gear myself, you sure have nailed the tone better than anyone else out there. Thats why your videos get attention!

Get a noise gate man

I run Dimebucker and B&B L500XL on my Harley Benton. Dimebucker was what I could find at that time so it was the first pickup that I installed on the guitar. I have Furman pq3, Randall RG100, Jaguar 4x12 and a bunch of other pedals. I kept tweaking the eq and it still did not produce my ideal dimebag's tone. The EQ setting on my Randall keeps getting further from Dimebag's setting, with bass low and treble high. Then the L500XL arrived. I replaced the Dimebucker with it flipped and plugged my guitar in. Guess what, Dimebag tone immediately come out of the speaker. it allowed me to roll up the bass and lower the treble. My Randall now finally use the similar setting that Dimebag uses and it sounds fantastic now. So save your time and money, please get a B&B L500XL.
