    Thanks for the video and info, I Bought a 2018 XMR1000r for a good deal but I am not a Mudder and hate the ITP crypted rough ride on grass dirt and pavment. I plan to swap wheels and tires and get it tuned. I used to have a renegade 1000r xxc so I am used to a stiff ride. I have a maxx seat and wanted the ability to carry a passenger.

    great video, first one I could find of an atv with the Maxxis Carnivores. I want to put these on my 2020 Renegade XMR, just wondering how they ride? I had an 8 ply tire before (STI Outback Max) and they rode like an absolute brick. How are these for absorbing the bumps?

      ROTAX are one of the worlds largest suppliers of aircraft engines and have a great reputation. Now that doesn't necessarily mean it's the same engineering in the ATV engines but I can attest to their reliability when treated properly. You can go on ATV forums where people use their CanAms as trail machines and treated properly and its nothing to see them with 15,000 miles+. You can tell CanAm started with the ROTAX and then just built their ATV around it because they aren't easy to service. With the introduction and cost savings of CanAms new single cylinder 700cc ROTAX that may be a better route, I've heard very good things about it. Their v-twin definitely adds weight.

    I'm with you that I don't go out looking for mud, but I like to have the rig that can handle it. I had a 2019 Maverick Sport XMR, but found the suspension to be very stiff. Looking at an Outlander now... debating on the XMR or the XTP. In the XMR I like the rad relocate, 30" Criptids, and Lower gearing, but the XTP I like the Fox shocks, beadlocks, and rear seat. Ideally I'll get one and add the features of the other as time and money allows. Both are the same price and have the front locker. What do you think?

    • @stephensmith745
      @stephensmith745 Рік тому

      There is always a compromise no matter what route you go, that being said the XMR offers a lot of advantage depending on how you use it. Like you said, gearing, rad relocate, extended chassis makes it amazing for hill climbs, stability, etc. One downside is to maintain the ride height and ground clearance you have less overall shock travel so it's stiff no matter what. Airing tires down a bit definitely helps. In a perfect world we would a modified XMR for some rides and other rides have a setup for comfort and speed. But again, if you are gonna drop a lot of coin doing all the typical mud mods, way better starting with the XMR. Guys in the CanAm forums usually end up swapping the Fox shocks on the XT-P with Elka's, they say they are better than stock but not night & day difference.

      @@wheelstandr I have run a lot of different sets of tires over the years and the Bearclaw HTR are in the top 5 for me. One thing I like about them is they run true to size. Even the 25” is a decent size compared to most 25” tires. You won’t be disappointed. Very good traction and tread life. The 25” has a less tread depth than the 26” so if your wanting a meatier tire and more clearance, etc then go with the 26”.

I want a 26-28 " on 12 " rims, radial construction, smooth operation for 90% hard dirt road/ trail use. Are you happy with the HTRs? Arethey too stiff being 8 ply rating? I had bighorns 2.0 on my last one and they were OK...We are allowed to drive around town on pavement here and just wondering your opinions. Thanks in advance ;}

    • @stephensmith745

      The rubber compound in the HTR is very compliant. For an 8 ply they flex very well and aren’t stiff. One of my favorite tires and I’ve tried plenty of them over the years. Also, they run bigger in size than most. Their 26” are pretty big.

      msawheels.com/collections/wheels/products/msa-clutch?variant=35026642010264. Tires are Kenda Bear Claw HTR. One of the best set of radial tires you can buy for an Atv. So the exhaust, I assume you added the hmf programmer as well? Did you have to adjust it at all or did you just plug and play? I know hmf says they have a tune preinstalled on it just wondering how it worked for you?

    • @stephensmith745
      @stephensmith745 3 роки тому

      So the "tuning" should be pretty much the same across most brands of tuners because its a live tune that adds fuel depending on your throttle position and that shouldn't vary. If you have additional mods you may need to add fuel based on those mods which you can easily do. I did play around with the settings but found when I strayed from the presets it actually made it run worst. If you install a tuner on a factory Grizzly with no mods at all it will give you additional fuel which stops some of the popping, and is supposed to run a bit cooler basically defeating the lean condition that the EPA mandates.

    • @stephensmith745
      @stephensmith745 4 роки тому

      They are adjustable however at factory setting the front tires will rub under hard compression, meaning there really isn't all that much travel but its the price you pay for additional ground clearance. The ride is good overall especially with the proper tire. Its definitely the BMW of the ATV world (performance, expensive parts, difficult to service etc etc) so its just something to keep in mind. Also, the motor does a great job of hauling this beast around, but occasionally it will remind you of its weight. The Renegade is definitely the athlete of the bunch with a significant weight loss and better power to weight ratio.
