Trolling COLD Water for Lake Erie Walleye

Recorded on March 31st, 2024. Carter and Hudson spent the day trolling the western basin of Lake Erie. We found our target species but it certainly proved to be tough fishing. When the water is cold, it's time to slow down your trolling. Surface Temperature: 41.8F We found one active pod of fish in 22ft of water. A custom flashy-blue and Taco Salad were the hot colours! Nice job! Cool video. BTW, I used to think that sliders went 1/2 way down as well, but I learned that it is actually closer to 2/3 after they are down there a while. I can see them on my graph, which is how I figured it out. It must be due to the blowback of the cannonball that changes the angle and makes them go deeper.

I'm sorry the video is all over the place, dealing with some GoPro issues. We almost never troll Bandits and worm harnesses together. It's going to be one or the other. Bandit speeds could be anywhere from 1-2.5mph. Once waters warm up and worms come out, we stick around 1.6-2mph. I hope this helps, thanks for watching!

I never minded, they are always cool, like these guys were. Just doing their job and it's a part of boating. You will meet them.\ Boating all my life, I know the drill without thinking about it. Is the fire extinguisher really required on an outboard? I have one ever since the Toronto Police told me to get one when they checked me out. They also insisted that I have my buoyant heaving line fastened visibly to my captain's chair. No arguments on my part. I want to be as safe/legit as I'm supposed to be. This reached a lot of the american sovereign citizens which is bad. Friendly reminder guys, here in Canada most of us know our rights but we decide to cooperate with LEO’s regardless cause when we know we’re doing everything basically within the confines of the laws it’s easier and quicker to help them out with what they need rather than be an unnecessary pain in the ass in the name of so called “personal freedom” most of our Law Enforcement aren’t corrupt power tripping tyrants like a lot of the ones you’ve got down there. Don’t wanna get arrested? Do your due diligence and make sure you’re following the laws. Hope this helps.

*Not sure about Canadian law but most mariners here in the states fail to realize as a boater you DO NOT have to cooperate with "inspections" like this. Here in the states maritime law gives the Coast Guard inspection authority however it conflicts with our 4th Amendment rights (this is only for PRIVATE vessels). The only way LE can board or conduct an off vessel inspection is with; 1.) A warrant, 2.) Consent, 3.) Probable Cause criminal activity is in progress. Without any of that they can't detain you, can't board your vessel and if you CHOOSE to show them your safety equipment it's 100% voluntary and minus a crime they have NO AUTHORITY to stop your vessel for any reason and/or detain you. If you're a boater/mariner here in the states NEVER speak with LE, NEVER consent to being boarded, searched or even questioned. NEVER speak with law enforcement, never consent to any searches (cars or boats) and simply ignore them. It's your 4th and 5th Amendment RIGHT.*

@@marcuslinton310 well...as the younger brother of a lawyer, I offer the following in rebuttal. Language within law is organized specifically for the enforcement of laws. In this case, the burden of reasonable doubt or suspicion, for law enforcement, is not waived because of language on a government document signed when being issued a hunting/fishing permit. Specifically because the permit is an AGREEMENT, not a CONTRACT. NOT the same thing. These scenarios present themselves in court fairly often, especially with motoring public: lawsuits against police agencies resulting from excessive detainment or unreasonable search...a motorist, collaborating with law enforcement, detained for 90 minutes (or longer), occupants ordered out of vehicle and entire vehicle searched, unfruitfully, causing major inconvenience for motorist and accompanying passengers, triggered by motorist (for example) lowering window less than insisted upon by law enforcement (although in fact, motorist is ONLY required to lower window sufficiently to allow verbal conversation and surrendering of documents ). Summary: if an angler is interviewed by marine law enforcement, especially under circumstances of random checks, and has his/her vessel ransacked by law enforcement, and the angler litigates against said agency for excessive detainment and intrusion, if it is revealed in court that the angler(s) were fully compliant...alcohol/license(s), bait type, safety equipment etc, then the likelihood of a judge awarding a settlement is very high, though usually not as steep as the absurd amounts $$ often pursued.

Here's the link for the scissors you see in the video, Master Chef brand. Canadian Tire lists them for $9.99 but I've found them on clearance for $4.99. I stock multiple pairs, so it doesn't hurt so bad if they go over board. www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/master-chef-8-in-1-multi-purpose-scissors-with-sheath-1422656p.html?rq=master+chef+scissors#srp If you find you're not a fan of those, I would then look for a pair of metal cutting snips. www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mastercraft-aviation-snips-locking-latch-cr-v-steel-straight-cut-yellow-10-in-0585820p.html?loc=plp
