@@songkhun6727 it's just a flash device, it's not anything specific for the cause of what I was demonstrating. Merely a cartridge with a piece of tape on it for gripping. Any cartridge could be used for this, though it's best you don't use it on top of a cartridge label.

Hey, thanks for watching! This particular port is quite interesting, while not a complete port, it definitely has additions and such that I unfortunately didn't touch upon for the most part when I made this video, I was pretty busy at the time so I didn't have the extra time to explore and record more, that and the lack of knowledge where video handling was concerned, go figure I end up figuring most of that out much later lol. I can honestly say that this pitch is pretty impressive for its time, considering this would have supposedly been what we would have gotten rather than Sonic Classic Collection, granted I have my own thoughts about that collection as well, regardless, there is certainly a lot here that I missed the first time around, the additional characters like Tails and Knuckles, the extra levels that I have yet to fully explore and document. The audio aspect is also quite impressive, most people doubted that the system could reproduce what the original games had for music, I personally felt it was possible, one just had to be a little clever with how the technology is utilized to make it work. If this and the Sonic CD port pitches would have panned out as intended, I feel like we would have had some solid entries for the Nintendo DS family, and who knows, likely would have pathed the way for something special for the Nintendo 3DS at some point. I plan to explore a lot more of these pitches at some point.

The device isn't worth it, you can use Nitro Hax to do literally the same thing, it's basically like the Action Replay DS. The only downside is it doesn't work with DSi enhanced titles. Alternatively you can dump your cartridges (to get a ROM) and just use a flash device, TWiLightMenu, or emulation to run your dumped ROM instead, then cheat through those methods, which are better honestly.

The tape isn't necessary, I just stuck that there to pull the cartridge out easier.

If you have custom firmware installed to the system, then no, you won't need to update the cheat device. If your system isn't modded, then you'll need to update the cheat device.

@@ramirojimenez3916 yea, just follow directions according to the source that provides the firmware. Just Google "Action Replay DSi Update" and you should be presented with some Codejunkies links.

It's not necessary for the original Nintendo 3DS. Stick the device in like you would a normal cartridge. The design of the original Nintendo 3DS is more standard versus the way the New Nintendo 3DS was designed in regards to where and how slot-1 was handled.

I've actually played survival mode in this and succeeded somewhat decently....until I accidentally overwrote the world data on accident when testing something lol.

Well that's some severe bad luck, defective maybe? I've had this one for a some years now and it still works just fine, I've also got a few older original Action Replay devices for the the Nintendo DS/DS Lite and they too still work just fine. I won't lie and say these are high quality devices, but they also aren't lowest of the low, I'd say they are about average, though in terms of functionality, they aren't a great solution due to some limitations, better off using a flash cartridge over one of these.

I did this to make it easier. Making the game cartridge angle a certain way to make it collide with the metal ejector actually causes some wear on the cartridge plastic the more you do that, you shouldn't do that, much like you shouldn't use pens and what not to lock the ejector like some folks do, you can even bend the ejector a little bit provided the angle isn't straight like it's supposed to be. Just do it correctly, tape isn't expensive either, you can remove the cartridge with your nail by gripping the edging of the cartridge with it, but that can cause wear on the plastic too. Tape is the safer approach.

The Action Replay DSi is backwards compatible yes.

Due to the design of the New Nintendo 2DS XL, there is no feasible way to make this device fit properly in the system slot. There are alternatives to achieve cheat access, Nitro Hax for example works similarly to how the physical cheat devices operate, just without requiring a physical device for your original game cartridges, the only downside with this solution currently, it lacks support for NDSi enhanced titles. A flash cartridge is your only other alternative that has support for cheat codes, by that point though you would have to run a backup dump of your original game(s) using that device in order to get the most out of such features.
